  1. Actually no you couldn't check the fence's at 500 ft!, not here anyway! as pretty much all the fences are lined with trees on one side , you just can't see them clearly. However As all the paddocks are clear of trees inside them . It would have worked out quicker( more fun) cheaper and most defiantly safe ( first thing in the morning endless open ground to land in at any given time etc) to do it in the single seat thruster . But it wasn't to be !! and to be honest 500ft is still pretty close to ground.....!! Keep it safe peeps
  2. My instructor spoke directly TO RAA and was told " CASA we're not allowing LL endo's after a spade of LL accidents and we're now organising specific coarses for Ll endo's January 2012... His belief is all pilot certificate holders should have some form of ll training either ground schooling or in flight.. He believes it makes us way safer especially in emergency situations ( ie power line spotting)there may be a time ( as happened last year whilst a pilot was heading to avalon) when you have to put down in a unknown field/paddock.,, here's where LL training comes in handy for inspection etc.... it's been pointed out on here before and I second it An awesome book " flight at lower levels". Have a read ... It Could save your life one day As for my LL. endo .well I'm just happy being safer and more aware regardless of the letters on my certificate.
  3. Ok I I did my LL. ENDO. Still signed off in my log book how ever Zane Tully denied it claiming my need was not warranted?( my need at time : over 8000 acres of grazing property to regurly check ie: fences water tanks troughs and live stock . Would been much easier to fly over inspecting everything but apparently that's not what a LL endo for?). So trained and paid but denied? There is a plus! I'm very aware of what can happen down there and I always got them poles in site.. So even with out some letters on my certificate I'm much better off.. much safer?
  4. Just been informed I bought his beautifully constructed avalon award winning nieuport 11 . I Feel very honered to be the next rookie to grace the skies in a truly majestic aircraft RIP peter
  5. It's factory certified and certified for training however when re- reg I answered " no" not for training use.
  6. It it can ! Just means at present I have not marked it as being used for training as it's private use
  7. Mine is 25. LW-1. Says certified?
  8. I'll have a look tomorrow for make( it's still in plane ) but any gps will work It was a couple years now so would have to search google but I still have all the free maps in my PC some where I'll have look a soon as I get a chance lil flat out at present I'll try post some pics also
  9. Ok how I did it.. First you need a gps! Bought a $70 car gps dick smiths.. Next on my computer I downloaded Ozi-explorer. About $40 I think. Plugged the gps into computer and copied the Ozi-explorer to the GPS ( automatically installs to favourites .. Then I found the free WAC charts ( I still them somewhere so could possibly send you them via email if needed) then copied them to oziexplorer in GPS and they automatically install to correct folder and done! Turn on gps select fav. Oziex and there you have it .. Change ground speed to knots select a aircraft or glier icon. Set tracks etccc... Hmmm but compared to oz runways,!,, Well no comparison just save for an old ipad( one on here for cheap I think?) and get oz runways ...., take it easy hope this helps
  10. Yeh seems they not avail anymore? I now use oz runways on I pad . but any auto gps can be turned into simple aviation gps with moving plane , plans etc... I also run my car gps with Ozzie explorer and have WAC charts downloaded into it.. ( just a back up)It was very simple to download and install! Then I installed my WAC charts ( simple again) . And pretty much the same as the old rec gps.
  11. Awesome pics Doug . Glad you had a good time Wind sock looks inviting

  13. I have an original set up ( box back ,NO Wing tanks) I hold 53 Ltrs in the tank located behind seat , solo I fly @5400 rpm 70-75 kts 12-14 Ltrs ph. 2.5 hr endurance with reserve. Easiest tail dragger to fly hands down. IMO.simple 3 point stall landings and wheelers are a sinch. Stalls clean at 36kts
  14. Hey mine looks like yours did crossing the never never
  15. That was awesome thanks Doug
  16. All sorted mate .very good response from our new techy and tech team also very accommodating . So when's the next fly in over your way?
  17. Alls looking promising , seems the new tech manager is very well informed on the situation and I applaude his efforts to help us owners. Defiantly a new breed of techy . Thanks for info techy I appreciate it emencly :cheers:Any one with issues we now have a very capable tech manger call him he actually doesn't bite.
  18. Hey yeh! Thanks for that pointing out:lost:
  19. It is a mass engineering order for all lightwings that's how the engineering order price is kept low$475 low? " yes we can do the order but it's expensive however we have been swamped with requests so are able to write up one order for all to keep the price down to only $495 just require credit card details and aircraft details"
  20. Ok a little more info. In 2003 owner x ( RAA/GA instructor and lvl 2) stripped the plane and rebuilt it. When it come to the new engine he contacted his nearest rotax dealer and asked for a replacement 532, and was told they have now become a 582 , same engine bigger bore and stroke.and that this was the replacement. He then fitted a 3 blade brolga and sent RAA the info stating the engine change, prop change(note original prop not made anymore) and colour change. This was excepted and the plane was registed . there was never a letter or mention of any engineering orders required! He believed no modifications had been made being a replacement for the 582 and as the prop was not avail anymore he sort in his opinion the safest prop option a 3blade brolga( very smooth, economical, loved it) IMO I feel RAA should organize with manafactures a way to resolve the issues with little to no cost to unsuspecting owners whome threw no fault of there own find themselves like me ,to be clear all that is required is a ph call to give credit card details and aircraft I'd. Then a order will be sent out. It's that simple!hmm but costs $495. so that's $625 for this years rego! I got $130 reg and a 3blade brolga wonder if howie takes trade . Lol thanks for your opinions, info and support guys I appreciate it emencly and being out here your opinions makes Me feel I'm not alone:thank you:
  21. Me too. Wish I could re new the reg
