  1. Won't be long before we see you out and about in your flying machine. Don't think I'll be challenging you to a short field contest, I reckon you'll be able to land on a tennis court!
  2. Yep, the Tecnam and Sav were on the way home to Kilcoy. Dropped in for a chat and brew.
  3. Hi All, What else could you ask for, great weather, camping at your favourite airfield and a Tail Dragger waiting to be flown. Maybe camping underwing on a NQ beach might have me beat........Doug how was the weekend?
  4. Hi All, Short hop over to Howard on Friday, first time landing at a friends strip in one of his paddocks. The Courier handled it with ease. Quick chat and a look at his ongoing restoration of a Bob Cat ultralight. Onwards to Pacific Haven for morning tea, followed by a flight along the beach. Here's a couple of pics.
  5. Easy option, set up the camper at your local airfield. You'll get to talk aeroplanes all day, fly whenever the urge hits, and enjoy a quiet night by the fire having a BBQ and a couple of beers. Best thing is roll out of bed at dawn jump In your beloved aircraft and enjoy a sunrise flight.
  6. Hi Mark, You lucky devil, it would be great to have a tour of the RANS facility, they really do have some nice aircraft. It sounds like the S20 will be a real winner, if it flies like the S-7S you will love it, and ideal for your property. My wife has always preferred side by side seating, I'm happy either way, just don't tell her I've got an intercom isolator switch, "ah the serinty" When your in the Childers area let me know and I'll take you for a spin in the courier.
  7. Hi Mick, It certainly was a nice day. Bundy photo is from Earlier in the week, dropped in to pick up a box of oil. Just about due for a service, I'll have to stop flying it so much! A while ago you asked about T/O and landing distances. I put out some cones and had a play last week. With about 7 kts on the nose I had a landing roll of 52m and a T/O roll of 25m. All one up, half fuel. Machine can probably still do better, pilot needs more work. Here's a couple more pics.
  8. Hi All, Every now and then you just have a glorious flight that reminds you how lucky we are to fly. Did that today! Launched from Childers and set sail for the Northern end of Fraser Island and Orchid Beach. Not a ripple on the water and plenty of boats out and about. Here's a couple of photo's.
  9. Hi All, The ranks of tail Dragger endorsed pilots was boosted today. The co-owner of our bueatiful Rans S-7S earned his TW endorsement and enjoyed his first flight without me pestering him from the rear seat. We have both been impressed with the aircraft. And to celebrate, of course we squeezed in a quick flight down the beach.
  10. Hi All, Took the Courier for a short run early today. Also fitted the turtle pac 40 litre Flexi tank to the rear seat for the first time. When I purchased the aircraft a couple of months back the turtle pac and associated plumbing/pump was included. The tank fits neatly on the rear seat, plugs into a fuel fitting+12v power+earth which is all behind the front seat. Started the aircraft and managed to transfer 20 litres in about 2 min from the turtle pac to the wing tanks. Seems like a good means of extending range provided you are travelling alone. Gives the aircraft a total of 104 litres. Here's a few pics.
  11. Here's some Rans Tail Dragger "porn" for your viewing pleasure.
  12. That looks like a great spot, now you have combined three great things, a Queensland beach, a barbeque and flying a taildragger, looks like I'll have to drop in and say hello!
  13. Nice photo's Doug. Particularly like the beach photo, it combines two of the best things in the world - a nice aircraft (taildragger of course) and a Queensland beach!
  14. Hi All, Dragged the Courier out of the hangar, loaded the talking baggage (on this occasion my wife) and headed for a lap around Hervey Bay, down the Sandy Straits, along the Mary river, into Maryborough for a cuppa and back to Childers. Nice calm morning, aircraft running like a dream, its great to be living in Queensland!
  15. I have all sorts of trouble navigating their website. After looking at an aircrafts details I can never go back a screen, for some reason have to close the site and start from scratch. Another whinge is when trying to pay for just one months listing they sign you up to a rolling renewal that requires further emails or calls to cancel. I'm not a fan.
  16. Hi All, Great morning for a fly. Scooted up to Bundy, landed and gave my old drifter(Yellow Hornet) a ground run. She is in a hangar awaiting her new owner. Said goodbye to the Hornet and Launched from Bundy - Elliott Heads- Burrum Heads- Buxton - Childers. Slowed the Courier down and enjoyed the flight along the beach with doors open, beautiful! Here's a couple of pics. If you have been out and about in your be-loved taildragger post some pictures for all to enjoy!
  17. Hi All, Late yesterday and early this morning it was time to start on my mate and co-owners tail wheel endorsement. Only early days but things coming along nicely. The Courier is turning out to be a nice handling, very capable and somewhat forgiving aircraft. I have managed to put 14 hours on her in the last few weeks and always finish up with a big smile on the face. After some circuits at Childers took the short hop to Maryborough for a cuppa with Russ from Pro Sky Maryborough. Here's a couple of pics, the lake is Lake Lenthils which lies between Childers and Maryborough.
  18. No problems Geoff, catch you next time. I'd be interested to see a picture of the C140 and hear how your familiarisation goes!
  19. Hi all, As of 0630 it is overcast, 5kts SE breeze, hasn't rained yet but certainly looks threatining. Not a nice day for flying. Breaky is on for those who live nearby and wish to drive.
  20. Hi all, it's Fri afternoon 1700hrs and I just inspected the airfield. It's in good condition except for the first 80m at the eastern end. It's a mixed forecast for tomorrow but if you do happen to get here the airfield is okay. I will update the Isis flying club Facebook page early in the morning. Fingers crossed!
  21. Thanks mate, hopefully we'll get lucky with the weather. Looking forward to showing you my new flying machine!
  22. Hi All, The airfield at Childers has held up surprisingly well, in fact aircraft were flying today. The first 80m at the eastern end is closed with a displaced threshold marked with white tyres. Looks like the weather will clear but there will be a moderate SE breeze. The cooked Breaky will be on regardless so fly, drive, ride or walk, all welcome on Sat 0730-1000hrs.
  23. Whilst we have enjoyed some excellent rain up our way like every other keen pilot I have been getting the shakes sitting on the ground. Today The weather gods gave us 2 hours of sunshine, scattered cloud and light winds so up early for a flight in the Courier followed by a flight in a J120. Tip for young players, don't forget carby heat on such a humid day, we had a good dose of carby ice in the J120 today. Here's a pic for all those still stuck on the ground with the weather.
  24. You'll have some fun with that flying machine. And if your not happy with someone you can go into a bombing run! Hopefully catch you next week.
  25. Nice one Geoff, I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and your time in the Drifter will give you a good start. Don't forget to put on your dancing shoes. Have you had a run in the Vixen?
