Hi All, Thanks to all that attended the Breakfast. Despite a dodgy forecast we were blessed with good weather and a good turnout ( 35 people & 12 aircraft). Keep an eye out for our next fly-in Breaky, most likely first weekend in Feb. Here are some pics.

Hi All, Reminder that the fly in breakfast at Childers is on this Saturday (7th Nov) 0730-1030. Forecast is for light winds, possible afternoon storm. Regardless of the weather the club will be cooking a Breaky so your welcome to join us. -
Found the strip, nice setup, your Savanah would love it. Tried to take some photo's but very blurry. Will try to take some good aerial shots for you next time I fly over!

The Yellow Hornet took a late afternoon flight around Childers yesterday. Finished off with a few circuits, nice time of day for a flight!

Hi Shafs, Yep, I was using a Go Pro. Still getting the hang of it. I noticed that some of the video's I put on you-tube don't play on I-pad/I-phone but work on computers. I'll eventually work it out.

Hi All, The Yellow Hornet ventured over to Pacific Haven for the Fly-in today. Around 50 people in attendance, 7 aircraft, quite a few drive ins. Bruce organised a cooked breakfeast, coffee & tea. I had the chance to catch up with a few members of this site. Finally got to see Geoff's X-Air Hanuman with the Rotax 912, a very nice machine. Some pics below.

Hi All, The Yellow Hornet in company with a Tecnam ventured to Biggenden yesterday for a quick visit to the best cafe in town. I have started playing with a Go Pro. Hi Mark, Sun morning is the fly in Breakfeast. There are several people flying in Sat arvo to camp overnight. Bruce has arranged a courtesy bus to take everyone into the local for dinner. Details also on RAA calander.

Hi All, Saturday saw the Yellow Hornet in company with a Tecnam and a Lightwing Rocket make the short flight from Childers to Elliott Airfield. Any excuse for a flight and a cup of Tea!

Hi All, Finally replaced all my eye bolts on the Jury struts.Here's what I discovered over the last couple of weeks. Despite getting a GA workshop to order replacement parts, there doesn't appear to be an exact match in AN bolts. The bolts in the picture below were tried however as OME alluded too, the unthreaded length and the overall length did not match. To get this to work you would have to re-sleeve all the struts. Next was the turnbuckle solution mentioned by Shane. I think this would work but be prepared to pay upwards of $100 for each turnbuckle(you can't just buy the eye end) Another solution was to re-tap the inserts in the struts with a 6mm thread and fit a 6mm marine grade eye bolt(easily purchased). I guess the Last option is to beg / borrow / scrounge some original parts from someone's dead or dying Drifter.

The Yellow Hornet is back in the air after a mini-makeover. 8 new eye bolts on the Jury struts, new rubber mount for the exhaust, new radiator support brackets and engine serviced. Still a few things to do but had a good flight on Saturday. Here's a couple of shots of the Isis/Burrum River junction and Childers Airfield.

Once again thanks for the info. Whilst picking up replacement AN bolts/washers/nuts the good folk at Maryborough Aviation Services confirmed the part number and ordered them. Once I know it fits correctly I'll post the part number/supplier/cost.

Thanks all for your guidance. I have looked at the catalogue OME advised. Unfortunately can't seem to find an Eye bolt that has the same dimensions. I can find a match on some of the dimensions, but not all. Being a mechanical numpty it is possible I'm missing something. If anyone has recently replaced theirs and has a part number guidance would be appreciated. Here's a pic with some measurements. I hope I'm using the correct terminology.

Hi All, Looks like I need to replace the Jury Strut eye bolts on my SB Drifter. One fractured through whilst flying on Saturday. Looks like stainless steel, tried a bolt supplies shop today without any luck. Looked on line tonight but couldn't find anything to match. Any ideas where to find 8 of these little eye bolts. Here's a couple of pics.

The Yellow Hornet ventured to Biggenden on Sat. A group of three aircraft made the trip from Childers. A short walk into town for Coffee & Cake at the local cafe. A good morning was had. Certainly beats mowing the lawn.
