  1. Adam, no he had a nice low wing bluel and white 2seat aircraft, similar to a sportstar ?
  2. Met a couple at Kilcoy last weekend who recommended Bonus Downs near Mitchell, haven't checked it out yet, we are looking out for similar farm stays with an airstrip for holidays in August. Will watch if anyone can help us both. We fly out of YCAB in a Savannah. Graham & Val.
  3. Flew into Gatton Air Park for the first time today, and we're surprised to see a gentleman sitting in a sitting area in front of his hangar with a sign on top. Free Coffee and Tea Welcome. Val and I waltzed over and met John who welcomed us into his airstrip home and made us a cup of tea and enjoyed a good chat, history lesson of Gatton Air Park before departing home YCAB via overflying Coominya. Thanks John well done and much appreciated. Graham & Val.
  4. 27-28th Oct will be a great weekend, look forward to meeting you there. See original post for reference to all details regarding the organised entertainment etc for Toogoolawah. Regards Graham
  5. Toogoolawah Weekend 1st Update Report Flew in to Toogoolawah Airfield on Saturday and met with Proprietor Dave Mc Evoy (Macca) who again confirmed that we are very welcomed to join in the festivities during the Equinox Boogie. Val and I were shown around and for all those who remember the facilities; it is exactly as it was 8 years ago, like being in a time warp. While watching the activities, I met up with the chief Pilot and discussed the plans for the local flying groups to attend on the Equinox Weekend. He was very helpful with his recommendations for Aircraft Parking etc and informed me that they have a Unicom frequency 123.75. It was suggested that pilots call in at the 10 mile point and notify them of our position and circuit arrival time, It would be recommended that everyone enter circuit on a wide downwind leg and proceed as usual. It is intended that there will be VHF radio equipped taxi marshals for arriving aircraft. Runways are 06/24: length 908 Metres/ 2978 ft GPS position: 27.07314133, 152.37793168 For all accom options and bookings, check the Ramblers/ Toogoolawah website. Book early,so not to be disappointed and to have the accommodation that best suits you and your crew / family. I have included photos of the visit and will provide updates as time progresses. Any enquiries / ideas/ recommendations are welcomed. Graham

Getting back in the saddle, headed off in Savannah with Val to Gympie and met up with Brett Souter at Pro - Sky with a welcoming chat and excellent coffee, running a good operation/flying school, blasted off to Kilcoy and met past acquaintance Mal Shipton who gave us a update of the progress of Kilcoy Airfield and was having a working bee maintaining the Airfield. A sight to behold when you come in within a spectacular surrounds. Off to Watts Bridge and checked the massive expansion that's taken place, homeward bound to YCAB. Where to next ? Graham &Val.

  15. After reading the article of Facing up to CASA re-inspectors at Natfly with Bruce Avery in the latest Sport Pilot Mag. I ask do I as a RAA aircraft owner have to have carry my aircraft operations manual / Mainenance manual at all times especially on navs as in Bruce's case at Natfly ? I asked GA instructors and pilot shop manager today at Archerfield who were'nt aware of this practice in GA nor did I ever hear of this requirement while in GA training and as a previous 182 owner, have ensured I meet all the requirements that Bruce met prior to his Natfly trip. Thanks Bruce for the Heads Up, look forward to some clarification.
  16. I have chosen RGIB and have found them to be an excellent broker to deal with for pre loved Savannah, cost $1900 for $50,000 Hull Insurance see Aaron Stephenson, contact [email protected]. Graham
  17. Yeah know exactly how you feel, come from Hang Glider, instructor, commercial background and took some considerable prompting from old mates in the game to finally take the step to jump. It is well worth it and you 'd be surprised how little you've lost both in confidence and experience. Now have a Savannah and am loving to fly for my own enjoyment. Enjoy the journey. Graham and Val
  18. I have chosen RGIB, Aaron Stephenson for insurance which we found very good and comapred well with other quotes. Look forward to aircraft arriving. Graham and Val
  19. Here are some photos of our Savannah, some files seem to be to big to send. Have Hangarage at Caboolture now and look forward to the arrival of the plane from Lismore soooon. Graham and Val
