  1. Congratulations, its a nice looking aircraft, I'm very envious!
  2. We live under the Southern lane & I saw one very keen Cessna heading south today. In between the heat, the smoke and the 15G35 winds, I figured he had far more of a desire to be in the air than I did
  3. Was heading to Bathurst and thought the same thing. 30+ degree forecast with smoke and wind, not a great day to be sitting in a light aircraft/
  4. Well the wing is registered as 32-5194 so its apparently an RA-Aus weight shift. You have to wonder how its been over 4000 metres? Perhaps theres a transponder in there and was previously a GA aircraft?
  5. This is great news! The aviation options up there have been quite limited since it and Coonabarabong closed.
  6. There was one of the variants down at Camden in the hangar the aerobatic flights operate out of. It was GA registered. I also recall seeing one for sale in the last year in the RA Magazine.
  7. Personally I always prefer to be looking down at those hills unless its the one next to the field. Was the Albatross still running when you were up there?
  8. One of the interesting features of the J170 & its 135Litres of fuel is that you could cover the total solo time requirement for your XC and very nearly your PAX endorsements in one flight! Not sure I would like to be tackling the landing after a 9 hour uninterrupted flight though :) Heres hoping the westerlies go easy on you.
  9. I'm a member of the Hunter Valley Club http://hunterflyers.com.au/ They have a couple rental Tecnam Sierras, very good club and a good area and very RAAus friendly. Regards Dan
  10. I started the RPC with the idea of transferring to a PPL when I had some hours. I may still do that some day, but I am having more than enough fun so it keeps dropping down the priority list. The only real incentive I can see in the PPL is the ability to fly out of Bankstown or Camden in CTA or the prospect of 4 seaters or aerobatics. For general flying though I cant justify the extra cost per hour to rent a C150 or a C172 over a J170 or a Tecnam
  11. It was actually pretty good. Sitting that low is kind of a challenge, though no worse than precautionary search. Traffic wasnt that bad, though I did notice an aircraft quite close at one point. Radio calls were pretty easy, just placing yourself when looking for the Control steps. A GPS with them marked would help but all in all quite achievable and enjoyable
  12. I use myflightbook In addition to having GPS tracking on the iphone app it makes a very useful online logbook
  13. Big fan of the skyleaders, great to see theres an Aussie distributor
  14. Gotta assume its legal in Europe as the original video came via Tecnam, but I can't imagine trying this in a Sierra
  15. http://myflightbook.com Great way of doing it. From the iphone app you can also track engine time, Take off and landing and flight path. Its also free.
  16. Yeah, I agree They should have checked the runway and the circuit procedure in the ERSA, how were they finding circuit height if they hadnt looked at the elevation? sounds pretty dangerous to me
  17. Ouch, yeah Sunday was not a day to be flying in the Sydney region. Don't worry mate you will get there
  18. Bit Sunny today. I'm not 100% on this camera position, but I did manage to get rid of the wobble.
