  1. Glad the pilot is okay
  2. Hope it's still for sale when I relocate to brisbane :)
  3. And with any luck reduce the lead times, generally by the time I read the mag it's all 2 month old information. I support the digital idea, with a paper subscription option.
  4. Yep, just wondered if it was only showing investigated incidents rather then all of them.
  5. The fact the "crash" hasn't been reported in the News, to ATSB or by AMSA isn't enough for you?
  6. They could be getting alot of "tyre kicking" emails, maybe it's best to call sellers direct when you can as it may show more genuine interest? Best of luck with search
  7. Deemed a Hoax from JRCC and ASA. I hope they catch this guy, be nothing worse then having to listen and respond to such calls as a controller and thinking you've listened to an aircraft to it's demise, not to mention the wasted resources.
  8. Some of his point is right and was mentioned earlier last week. We do have a collection of clerical staff whom I'm sure do a great job, but how much of their day is wasted doing tasks that should be automated. For example receiving my pilot renewal in the mail and processing it.
  9. Sorry Andy but I'm going to have to strongly disagree with you on this one, all members regardless of their experience, time with the association or other qualification has the right to share their view and opinion and be taken as valid as any other member The fact the whole story may not be known is not the fault of the member but the fault of the management whom feel we as members don't need to know the whole story.
  10. Cutting wages doesn't mean we have to lay off staff or cut their pay. By implementing an automated/online system and reducing the amount of clerical staff. This can be done by not replacing/refilling the positions as staff move on. From memory someone is finishing up in a few months... I hope as a first step that position may also be wrapped up
  11. I might be wrong here but my understanding is the production and delievery of the magazine is contracted out, which RA-AUS pays a set amount (unsure if it's per member, per copy or a standard amount). The advertising is done by the publisher who profits/uses that money to pay the rest of the magazine? Maybe someone who is in the know can confirm or correct as required?
  12. I doubt casa will be forthcoming with any extra cash, they have their own saving cuts to deal with. Also non for profit asking for more handouts when they have a couple of million in the bank will most likely be laughed out the door. We either find a way to be neutral (before our savings dry up) or it's game over, something I think the board are pushing us towards (being neutral)
  13. I got the impression it wasn't such a basic system at all, the amount of man hours that would be required to examine the day to day "paper" business and convert into useable design seems high thus the money?
  14. The ACT act as it stands doesn't allow it, but that's why i asked had we made any effort to have it changed/updated. It was pointed out at the time a few states do allow it, but moving isn't really on the table so lets focus on seeing if we can get the ACT Govt onboard?
  15. I'm assuming some expertise will need to be consulted. Money well spent if we get some results.
  16. One thing i've noticed (and heard from others) was the aircraft sales area should be avoided due to the negative and troll like comments. Maybe one way to go with it is remove it from a "forum" and go with a market style classifieds with comments so people can ask questions etc but the original poster has easy access to remove said comments, something like a cross between the forum and what Facebook. If done well it may be an avenue for paying for the forum (i.e. $5 to place the ad until it's sold). The site as a whole is a great resource, not just the forum but the aircraft section, the events etc. Minor improvements would be welcome but no massive changes as i think it works well. Get RA-AUS on board to have member only discussions with board members and ceo (like the Q&A session but online). Could be done either as a forum or online chat rooms.
  17. I've heard nothing confirmed but I wonder if it related to an earlier article about mustering endorsements I think was made by the Ops Manager. The fact it was turned down is good news if it is indeed related to that issue. I had intended to come, for me it would have been a flight to melbourne and a drive from there, sadly the local aero club also had their AGM on the same weekend. However I support the idea to have all AGM's located at fields close to the capital cities (i.e. within 45-60mins drive) to provide easier transport options for those who can't fly in themselves. Andy I'm sure most here will applaud the work you have done so far (both on the board and before then), but please remember most members have been hearing the same stuff now for the past few years, that management has bigger fish to fry and new board members or managers so things need to be put on hold. I'm in the process of drafting an email to the CEO, but maybe you have some idea on this issue. A couple of meetings ago a resolution was put forward to allow postal voting at AGM's, it was then realised the ACT which we are formed under doesn't allow it. What if any action has been taken to try and have the ACT updated to allow postal or electronic voting. Has anyone from RA-AUS been in contact with the relevant department or minister or other associations whom this may be affecting to see if we can get it changed?
  18. Valid points Keith, the way I see it is the admin of the organisation has gone up thus that portion of the fee has increased. Getting rid of the mag means that portion goes down (from the membership fee), the net gain for membership fee can afford to stay at the current rate rather then go up inline with the increase in admin costs.
  19. I also find the discussion on Facebook lasts only a matter of days before it's lost "in the feed", here it lasts for a lot longer and provides search function for old topics
  20. sounds like a few people here know what they are talking about, might be a good idea to ask for expressions of interest for a steering committee to advise the ceo and board?
  21. It's not as easy as that nev Setting up procedural seperatio. Is very complex and at the end of the day to use it you'll still need to be CTA endorsed, otherwise why should casa or Asa trust we can fly a route without compromising the procedure.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up
  23. Thanks Andy, a few of the motions reference other material/reports.. Will these also be released as part of the minutes? Also 2 motions were past as part of Governance but not included? Are these considered in camera?
  24. Sadly flying in isn't an option for me, but if it was located within say the basin of a capital city which I could get a RPT flight I would. Alternating locations or teaming with saaa makes sense too. Getting public turnout would be good too (again needs to be close to the population)
  25. I'm not too sure how it all works but i think if you are under $500 in the year, they offer you a set price for the following year, based on your previous usage. I'm not sure they wait till you reach $500 to charge you.
