  1. Great offer Rod, We are going up to Orchid Beach saturday so will try and drop in on the way back. Tomo- Flew over Cecil plains on the way up to Caboolture from Armidale on Thursday and called into Jimbour for lunch but alas they closed down 3 days earlier. So it was back to Dalby for a pub meal at the Oasis and then dodge cloud all the way to the coast. Terry
  2. Thanks Neil, hope to catch up in the future Terry
  3. Gidday Geoff, Finally got here to Caboolture. The weather is on the improve I think. We will head up to Orchid Beach Saturday. There are quite a few from here heading down to Evans Head after chatting to Neil in a J120 so have a great day Terry
  4. Hey Qwerty we had an airboat but was really really low altitude stuff. Good luck with the flying boat. Terry
  5. There is a fly away to Brown Brothers Winery for lunch today- the Jab is going with about 6 or 8 other A/C. That will be a long flight--about 6NM, The website is to be updated very shortly Terry
  6. To increase your screen size if I am on the right track--Hold the control key down and press the + button and the screen will zoom in Terry
  7. Keep your speed over the fence about 60kts and you wont float too much. I find if I have my revs at about 2000 by the base turn I am spot on flap speed. Enjoy. I will be in your area early in the new year- might catch up Terry
  8. Alls good now. I got onto Dynon support and all I needed to do was do a DSAB config. Sounds confusing but was a simple step in the set up menu. Thread closed I imagine. Thanks Captain for your help. Terry
  9. Thanks Geoff for the response. Yep we did the EFIS first and then the EMS. So I will post on the Dynon forum and have a chat to both Jabiru and Horsham aviation if needed. Terry
  10. Righto all you J230 owners with an Efis, Ems and Avmap and SL30 linked. I thought it was time to upgrade the Dynons with newer software which all went very well. But on a flight to Hamilton yesterday on trying to split the screens the Efis wont pull over the Ems screen. It says No Ems connected and I am also unsure if the other instruments are synced or not. Help please. I thought no probs it is just a setting- but cannot find anything that helps on the instruments, dynon site or the manual. Any Ideas ?? Terry
  11. Fantastic Walter, thank you, I will try my best to give at least give Straddie a go and maybe try Orchid Beach as well if I can get away with my Bro in law while the wives are busy elsewhere. It's a pity it will be the second Saturday and not the third. Blackrod-Well Cessna versus Jab-hmm where do I start > i have been flying C182's for about 15 years, great work horse, can get them into most strips and out - Love em. The Jab- have only been flying since January. I am liking and appreciating it more every flight If I had the money I would have a 182 and a jab but in my situation I can afford to run a Jabiru and not a C182 or C172 etc. I can do more flying now but only with 1 pax but so be it, I am at least up there and free and hope to do a few more trips next year. Terry
  12. Thanks Shags, I will try and get something out there in a few weeks. Terry
  13. Gidday Walter and all. i am flying to Queensland in the Jab early January with the co-pilot who shall be obeyed and would love to find a couple of spots that you guys can recommend or a fly away happening in the Caboolture area. Straddie sounds and looks great. Any ideas and spots would be great. We will be based on Bribie. Terry
  14. Gidday guys, we use Skyfuel. they gave us all the cards and we get an account every month. Very happy and they were great to deal with. Terry
  15. Have done a little bit of NVFR in our J230 and haven't noticed a problem but have only been in the circuit and haven't really been looking at voltage etc Terry
  16. gidday Ozzie, we went there last year with 2 of our young teenage girls and had a ball. I would go back again any time. Terry
  17. Well done Owen. Are you doing this solo or are other aircraft going ? Terry
  18. The Painted hills are fantastic and are different to the painted desert. They are on the Tarcoola WAC chart and marked as Painted Hill with co-ordinates about 29' 34 min and 135' 50min at a distance of 48NM from William Creek on a track of 207 degrees Magnetic. I also have the co-ords for the Marree man (in the GPS )which is then on track from the painted hills to Marree but you need to get up to about 8500 to see him properly- it is a bit ordinary now. Terry
  19. We stopped at Marree recently and had a great time staying at the Oasis caravan park. Good cabins and a great outdoor meal by a huge campfire every nite put on by the owners. Fuel up at William Creek and then down to Marree but on the way you must fly out and see the Painted Hills- they are magnificent. Terry
  20. Great reads guys. thank you Terry
  21. Gidday Pabloako, The ELB thing-Our club bought 20 off these for club members locally after looking at the idea of buying them in the states. Definately speak to AMSA and maybe an elb company here, but the story we got was the Hex code had to be changed here and set to OZ. They would do it but charged a heap. Terry
  22. About 3 months ago I was on a converging course, head on, with a pelican. He spotted me when I spotted him and he folded his wings and dropped like a smart bomb. It was an amazing site. A pelican would make a real mess if it hit , wouldn't it. Terry
  23. Worked fine on my mac. But it wouldn't print--bloody wally, no paper in the printer. It worked great Terry
  24. Ok Nev, I will check it out further, thank you for your input, it is always welcome. Terry
  25. Yeh, the big screen is great for old blind guys like me. But you are right , they should have a front slot for the card or even an extended adaptor if they are made. Any how it's all done now, till next time. Terry
