  1. Oops, too smart for myself. So where is Riddels creek? Terry
  2. I cheated, blew up the image and picked the Lat and Long and bingo, Riddell's creek. But I don't know what the hedge says but Ian could tell us as it is his home strip I think. Terry
  3. Merv, drop into Wang on the way for a coffee and a break or fuel. Happy to meet you if you want a lift into town or anything. I think Daves route would be a bit easier for you. Terry 0427 221106
  4. Hmm, good one Slarti, ya got me there for a minute Terry
  5. Thanks for the link Brent. Hey, haven't flown one of those jets, but cant be too hard, just pull back and things get smaller-push forward and things get bigger Terry
  6. Great site Mazda, haven't seen that one b4. I flew a charter flight in there a few months back- I wish the weather looked like that picture then Terry
  7. Well done Wayne, did it leap into the air being 1 up and catch you a little with the extra climb performance. Enjoy Tailwinds allways Terry
  8. Mazda, thanks for the info on Coota. We are heading that way first weekend in April, so if the weather is looking ok I might get his name and number off you closer to the time and touch base with him. Hey Brent, great pic of Lakes as well. I now know who to ask for a pic of any airstrip in the country. The new strip there is great, beats the old one, doesn't it. How many people can the B&B cater for ? Not sure on numbers but I think about 10 at this time. Terry
  9. Brent, thanks for the info, thats great and what a great pic. Maybe we will visit Mallacoota for a day after leaving Merimbula and then around to Lakes and over the hill to WGT- all weather permitting of course Terry
  10. Mallacoota Hey all, thanks for your help for our flyaway, the suggestions have been great. Definitely gotta get to SA in the future but this trip will be to Merimbula for a start. Mazda and Flyer, thanks for your suggestions re the south coast, have any of you flown into Mallacoota and if so, what is the airport like and is it a town worth visitng for a couple of days and maybe Gabo Island. Terry
  11. Bugger, I was going , not sure if driving or flying yet Terry
  12. Gidday Ian, Had a call from a mate at Bendigo, he has a strip at his home about 3nm from Bendigo and is back into maintenance for GA and RAA. He also signs off on kit building etc and testing. Give him a ring for a chat- he will travel and a top guy. Rod Shearer 0419 717212 Terry
  13. Bloody hell Biggles, my head is spinning now, can I get off the conveyor ;) Tezza
  14. Thanks Mazda, looks like SA is the place for a fly-away. Might leave that trip for when I finally get a Jab myself. Will keep these idaes, they are just what I needed. But this trip maybe East of WGT would be the go, a bit closer and cheaper. Any ideas for south of you-flown to both Merimbula and Moruya- can't remember what Moruya is like as a destination. Mybe we could start there and then Merimbula and coastal to Lakes entrance then over the top for Wang Terry
  15. Thanks Geoff, It is a tad far and makes the dollars add up on GA aircraft but I will look at it and see if they are feeling rich. Great suggestion, thanks Terry
  16. Ok guys , here is my dilemma. Every year a group of us fly up to the St Pats races at Broken Hill. We have done this for about the last 15 years and take 2 or 3 A/C, usually C182's or C172XP. Occasionally we stopped at an outback station on the way without telling the passengers and had a fantastic pre-organised outback lamb on the spit or similar and the station owner also had an esky full for the pax's, or we stopped at Menindee or Pooncarie. Well this year the Broken Hill races are too early and it falls on the long weekend in March (also wifes b'day and wedding anniversary) SO, I am trying to come up with a tour or trip of 4 days with a total flight time of max 6 hours at 120 knots, late March or early April with a different touch. The crew and pax are fromMelb and around Wangaratta. Departure is from WGT. The guys like a beer (or 3) and bit of sight seeing or action. Age range 40-50 (ish) Was thinking maybe Canberra way or Merimbula to do a fishing trip. Any Takers or ideas? Terry
  17. Hey, Deskpilot, was over your way Saturday. Couldn't believe the traffic on the air out of Murray bridge as we flew past for Parafield. Took a couple of pics as I flew past on the way back to Wangaratta but alas by the time I got the camera to work I was past and have a couple of distant shots. I must return in the future and drop in. Terry
  18. Yeh, but Ben the forward motion of the airctaft is not countered by the conveyer only the wheels are. So the prop will propell the A/C forward until flying speed I think
  19. Thanks Geoff, Have had a few meals at the pub as well on the way to the St Pats races at Broken Hill. There never used to be a cross strip and it wasn't sealed until recently I think Terry
  20. Looks like a bit near Menindee, but not sure if they have a cross strip Terry
  21. Fire pics Here are a few fire pics. A couple from this year and also the 06,07 fires. I think it is Elvis at Mt Beauty just dropping in for a load of water at the lake. Fills 10,000lts in 45 seconds. The Airtractor dropping the retardant is at a fire near Corryong 10 days ago loading from a base in the pines called Avondale (couldn,t find it on any maps, but a nice little up hill strip at about 3000 ft) And us and a Dromeda heading to Shep before we were smoked in for the night from Wang. It was like a air raid with 2 Dromeda's, us in a C172 xp, Skycrane and his helo as well as 2 or 3 other Helitacs.
  22. Ok, thanks slarty, I will give it another crack Terry

  24. Hey guys, I am having trouble getting the URL right for a photo I have already uploaded. No matter how I put the link in it is telling me it is not a valid link Terry
  25. Thanks Keith, I will check with the guy that took them as he gave them to me for a collection of fire shots while birddogging and air attack in last years fires. Terry it is a ripper shot isn't it. It was taken at Mt Beauty
