  1. Good luck Bex I hope it all goes well clear sky's .
  2. One small problem with the design is only 3 power pulses for the six cylinder version and 4 for the 8 cyl per 2 revolutions of the engine making it a bit on the rough side at lower rpms Im guessing your using Suzuki or Daihatsu cylinder heads the porting will be the limiting factor if you are because if your using off the shelf heads they will need double the flow because you are in effect feeding 2 cylinders with one inlet port.
  3. What part of it could you put a patent on the opposed boxer engine has been done before not being smart but interested.
  4. Well done Sabrina I bet your dad is very proud and you picked a great aircraft to do it in.
  5. Its a shame to lose so many great minds in accidents maybe more thought for ballistic parachute systems.
  6. He did ,also a lot of camshaft pioneering work.with his company Waggott Engineering which was I think carried on by his son Peter and moved to Alstonville.
  7. I want one too that engine just looks and sounds great and suits that airframe as well
  8. Your right and their heavy and take up a bit of space in the workshop you would need to be doing it a lot maybe a Chinese milling machine you could do a lot more with one of those.
  9. Turbo you need to get yourself a second hand RVR or Serdi machine .they make that kind of work so much easier there would be a few around with all the engine reco shops closing down.
  10. I hope you get a good one and end up with a good result:smile:
  11. Yes we'll said I know what BHP is but not the other terms. Who Remembers The Repco Brabham Engine I wonder if Australia will Ever produce another formula one championship engine.
  12. Thanks Gentreau and Rankamateur I have never come across it before.
  13. Hi Nev please forgive my ignorance what is BMEP?
  14. Bex depending on the rpm range there would be little advantage in double overhead camshafts and 4 valves just a weight disadvantage.
  15. Hi Bex Its a sad thing that ACL engine parts a all Australian company that supplied Ford and Holden in this country also pistons and bearings for Jabiru has closed down and disappeared with barely a ripple they could have been a good supplier for your engine and employ hundreds of people in this country. This country is losing its ability to manufacture many things giving the Chinese a monopoly that will come back to bite us in my opinion.
  16. I agree otherwise we would all be still flying around in wright flyers .Thats why a lot of us are flying around in aircraft called experimental without people asking questions and exploring possibilities nothing changes.I think innovators like the guys that start from scratch and build new motors with cutting edge technology need to be encouraged .I asked if the engine would stop if a fuse blows or a battery terminal is loose or a circuit breaker drops out how have they solved these problems .
  17. I think with the redundent EFI system it would be possible to run 2 totally independent systems with a backup power supply the modern jet liners have a drop down prop driven turbine that takes over flight necessary functions in the event of complete power failure.or as Geoff says a small secondary battery.
  18. Here's a question will a dirty battery terminal,a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse stop this engine?
  19. I have never folded the wings on mine but it looks fairly easy if you look at the Irish and British websites xairireland.com they have pics of them folded and make a nylon adaptor that helps line up the spars to make reassembly easier.i think youwould need something to support the wing tips in the folded position .
  20. What is the information needed that usually holds things up the most
  21. The irish and GB websites show pics of one with wings folded and they supply a little nylon adaptor that makes refitting them easier I don't know how easy it is.
  22. Also the 912 is heavier and needs a radiator and oil tank and despite what you say they do stop and they have been known to break crankshafts and sprague clutches I also have a H with a jab in it and I'm very happy with it light quiet and good on fuel.
  23. Yes jabiru7252 and speed like the jab too
  24. What happened to the xair to end up like this?
