There is a repair called a keensert that will repair the thread and seat where a hellicoil won't do the job.

Hi Geoff you handled that the right way and kept a cool head well done,our 2 foxbats don't use aux pumps at all just gravity and the rotax mechanical pump they must have added them in the LSA ,the saddest part of the whole show is the effect on your wife I hope she puts it behind her and gets back in the sky:)

The biggest problem is using it on a 2 stroke that normally uses premix fuel is that there is no oil in the aerostart so your firing it up dry especially if it has sat for a period

I visited the brumby factory in Cowra two weeks ago I was impressed lots of aircraft being built and was given a bit of a tour even though I turned up out of the blue .

One thing I did notice in the underwater pics is the landing gear appears to be down if so it makes the ditching even more amazing ,it could have been released in the crash.

I agree Ozzie as is the responsibility of every PIC I am just saying he did well to get a jet down at night on the rough ocean in IMC conditions in only 2 pieces and have such a good survival rate

It has a trelleborg 6ply on the nose wheel and track king speedways 10ply on the mains the only problem with the nose wheel right now is slight out of balance the mains are perishing and are worn with lots of cat heads in them and are 9yrs old
