  1. Something that the lazy ones haven't bothered with so far, but a good point along with the fact that most of this group will shift from government supervision and liability to private supervision and liability which will reflect in member costs.
  2. ....some difficulty to the Border Force guys who all spoke Mandarin. It was in a discussion with Richard Marles at the Geelong Yacht Club that Richard froze when Cappy and Turbo told him this story. What Nationality are they!?, he asked, alarmed. "Chinese" said Richard and turned pale. "That XXXXXXX!!!! Xi!!!!" he said, and Cappy and Turbo both offered to fly the first wing of the attack. The Challenger took them up to the Spratleys in three hours, they kicked the gooney birds and their nests out of the Cosair engine bays and they were away, talking out a complete squadron of Stealth fighters which had been sitting on the runway very quietly. They then turned their eyes to .............
  3. CTA is usually a breeze within the GA/PPL training system shortly after first solo, so by the time you are let loose to go out to the training area and make your own entry back in it's the breeze you say it is, and particularly the entry to the circuit and the traffic synching within the circuit. You're current and you've been trained by GA Instructors. The samed goes for RA students trained in CTA; you learn a lot of things over quite a few hours. However someone who's learning out in RA or has been flying for years out in RA is going to be hit with all that at once, and, he may not necessarily have been examined for radio procedure, entry, circuit entry, or ground procedures. "G'Day guys, can I get some help on how to get in here? is not a transmission and when I see people posting that that's what they do all the time and Airservices "looks after them" Airservices needs their bum kicked and should be doing follow ups because there are some very weird calls out there, and lot's of radios either not working or with issues. That's not something that can't be fixed but the RA structure and programmes needs to be changed to achieve it.
  4. Quite possible, that's another thing to look for in the wreckage.
  5. .....Border Patrol being made aware of the foreign languages spoken by these CASA people, so they used their satellite cameras to follow every CASA PIO and when he set up for a Ramp Check, their Agent would set up set up on him with video and listening device. They soon found that ....
  6. Yes it could. I've been in one a few times and never given the seat lock a thought. From previous investigation reports the seat generally slides back in the climb out and you are left with nothing to grab or reach, so loss of control is earlier in the circuit than this one. From other discussions its sounding like a possible issue with the aircraft.
  7. .....the associated fertilization does for the pastures. It wasn't long before the Pasture Improvement Officers from the Department of Agriculture got to hear about it, and after being given a few free rides in the A10, strongly recommended buzzing on every property. Not many people know that in 2012, to save money the DOA and DCA decided to share training costs, so the PIOs were sent on training camps with the FIOs, and quickly picked up the Stasi habits of the FIOs. Pretty soon farmers on the way into town for Friday shopping found themselves pulled over by Land Cruisers painted in Camo with flashing Green Lights (representing Pasture), and checked to see whether they had a Fertilisation Ticket, or Rygrass Eradification Ticket, and there were Education Nights where the PIOs said outrageous tings and got away with it, and Ramp Checks where PIOs checked Utes for Prickly Pear seeds in Queensland, and beer stubbys in South Australia. It had gathered so much pace that ............................
  8. When that happens the trim actuator, if found in the wreckage is usually robust enough to show the position it finished up in, so seriously out of trim is obvious. I couldn't find a Technam photo but this one's just good enough to show us the screw which is spun by the motor and a "nut" equivalent which slides along the screw, like a nut moving along a bolt. When the power is cut by the crash the nut stops moving.
  9. The AUF >>>> RAA was not established for cross-country flying; if you remember, it was grudgingly allowed provided you stayed in paddocks away from airfields; from memory 5 Nm away from all of them, and you stayed below 300 feet. Now that I think about it, the lifting from just clear of ground level to 500 feet minimum when practicing GA forced landings and precautionaries probably occurred to provide a clearance bwteen RA and GA aircraft out in Training Areas. Similarly CTA wasn't opened up for a long time, and even now requires a lot more than some people have suggested on this thread to be safe; but if you want to do it, and if you are prepared to comply with the conditions, there are no issues; some RA schools where students have to transit CTA have been doing it in compliance for years. It's the non-compliant transits that pose the safety risks. The CTA subject should have been raised separately to 760 kg.
  10. If people just bought their ASIC cards and got on with it there would be no need for discussions, but they don't, and we get this endless moaning about them. In the group I posted there are ISIS people, and anywhere Jihads are a part of the arsenal, there's a safety threat.
  11. sheep across the paddocks as they say in the USAF. OneTrack Defence Inc. had bought 10 of these with the idea of renting them out; a sort of Budget Car Rental on the battlefield. Of course they could up the insurance to cover the aircraft for $3 million per day, so hiring one was a good deal. Many NSW Cotton Farmers now cultivated the paddocks with the Gatling Guns of A 10s. It was 10 times faster that=n Case Steigers on GPS, and you could .................
  12. You're possibly right about the seat, but there's already another thread going which conflicts with this one indicating he was qualified in RA and starting training in GA, hence flying the Cessna.
  13. Some may have, but I think others may have been Palestinians; they were demonstrating just 7.5 km from the Springvale book store that was training ISIS fighters and the demonstration was against Israel and its allies.
  14. Well this wouldn't be the first time an experienced instructor went down in a student's aircraft as a result of a mechanical fault.
  15. Engine, TSO instruments, Regular Maintenance & Checking, Currency, knowing how to thread, modules and currency, correct radio etc. Certainly you can do it as an RA pilot, many have in Sydney; the last GA thread on it was 300 posts when the dream started in 2011.
  16. Dandenong a few days ago; these have been expanding exponentially; now hundreds per demo and regular demos supporting Hamas. What's the alternative?
  17. I'd be very interested to see what the GA people think about this; it's flying at a different level, and a lot of modules to learn for RA people.
  18. There are 6300 active pilots in RAA so the extra 400 would increase the numbers by 6.3% There are 3232 aircraft so the extra 400 would increase the numbers by 12% There are 9000 financial members, so the extra would increase the numbers by 4.4% There are only 160 Flight Training schools, which looks way under what’s needed to safely manage the pilots and aircraft. Given that more management of pilots and aircraft would be required, the expenditure vs income percentages are going to wrong way unless RA pilots are happy to pay more for these people to be managed.
  19. This is the link to the RAA anouncement on 18/1/24. it has more information, questions and answers: https://raaus.com.au/news/mtow-increase-601kg-to-760kg/
  20. Thanks rodger, just doing some basic comparisons now.
  21. ...........Echidna. They found that they could shoot an average of 35 bunnies with the quills from every shot. On one recent occasion there was a scream from the Acacia grove and on inspection they found a bedraggled forlorn figure crawling along with a quill stuck into he rear, obviously in pain, his glasses sliding down his nose and crying "Water.......Water" It was ex Chairman Dan. He told the story of how some rich businessmen (we can't tell you who they are because they are members of the NES) had promised him a US$50 million salary a year and a Penthouse in New York, how he signed a contract then resigned as the most revered and loved Premier of Victoria in history, flew to New York in the last clothes that weren't worn out, and found an empty office with a Sheriff's Seizure Notice on the door and a sighn saying Gotcha!, how He worked as a Santa in Wal Mart until he had enough to pay the fare home to Darraweit Guim International and how he'd been eating witchetty grubs and yams for the last four weeks and after a feed of Wombat steak, joined the rebel group as a front-line RPG holder. Of course these were the first foot soliders to be shot; usually by a Tank, or ..........
  22. That would have been a good thing to do at the start Skippy
  23. .....the bunch at roasting wombat steaks, and target shooting, which could be ..............
  24. How many Recreational Aviation registered aircraft are there?
