  1. Light aircraft with 11 people on board? This will be interesting!
  2. I'm in shock. Ross has always been there to answer any silly question I ever had. I don't know what to say...
  3. Daz...the SAAA have a Corby starlet on a trailer sitting in the hangar at Narromine for just this purpose! Scotty
  4. Just my 10 cents worth but I believe all the players need to get fair dinkum about this. How about pool money and pay someone $100K a year to organise this. Spread across all the associations, I believe it would be money well spent. The first Temora Natfly had movies shown on the side of a hangar, a bar for the campers, really good workshops presented by LAME's, the chance to get hands on while they were building an aircraft over the event. As a builder, thats what I want. I dont give a toss about looking at new aircraft but some of you will. Rotax wasnt even there this year. One of the major players in our hobby. I am a builder and I want to be able to see and touch product. Although a nice glass package is pretty to look at, its not for the vintage aircraft I am building. How about paying suppliers to come! Thats a novel idea! Its expensive enough in fuel and accommodation. Lets make it attractive for them to come. Spend money to make money guys! Its not rocket science. I want workshops where I can participate in. Making cables, wiring an instrument panel, how to use a torque wrench, actually building with some wood. Not being told "anything I need to know about building a wood aircraft is in AC43". I knew that but would have loved to have some hands on stuff. The highlight of Ausfly was catching up with all mates. The rest was blah..... Scotty
  5. The catering at Natfly 2 years ago was far better. This weekend there was a caravan selling more greasey food than my arteries could cope with and an ice cream van. What's changed? Are there no schools, scout groups, sports groups that wouldn't want to earn some good dollars for a few days work. It's been done before so what happened this time? The aeroclub put on a great spread at night for dinner but their attempt at a lunch time BBQ was very poor. There were many irrate people in the queue. I stood there for close to an hour for a steak Sanger. One workshop I went to the presenter was told the day before that he was doing it. This has been in the planning for months. It's got so much potential and I really want to see this work but they need to raise the bar. There were many comments heard from many visitors over the weekend that echoed this. Scotty
  6. Was a great social event! Catering was abismal and the SAAA workshops I thought were poorly organized. We can only go forward from here. Scotty
  7. Did he cut the engine before impact or was it an engine failure? Scotty
  8. Thanks guys...I have a few leads at present so will let you know how I go. Scotty
  9. I got a quote today for $2000. That doesn't include GST or insurance. Sounds a little high to me but then again maybe that is the going rate? Scotty
  10. Thanks guys...all good information. I appreciate it. I have contact CH Freight today and they are going to give me a quote. It weighs 113kg and is in a crate 760mm square. Scotty
  11. Hi Mark.....yes I have been laying low...lol. Build is really progessing. I am building the spars at present which is the last of the big stuff. Then there is the multitude of little stuff! You can see progress at www.scottyspietenpol.com Scotty
  12. Does anyone have any experience with freighting an engine from the USA to Australia? I will have a partially rebuilt engine in a crate to come over and wondering what freight forwarders people have used and what their experiences were? Regards Scotty
  13. Just had a look at the RAAus website and there is nothing much about Natfly. Is it happening this year? I dont want a slanging match about the pros and cons of it but is it on? Scotty
  14. Anyone on here going to this event tomorrow at Caboolture Airport? We arrived today and looking forward to it! Scotty
  15. I just purchased an iPad Air2 today. Very impressed so far. Scott's
  16. Andy...Get him to troll through the numerous posts on this forum relating to it. I simply dont have the energy to give to it anymore. The first Temora was fantastic and it went down hill very quickly after that. Its disappointing. I would love to see a big all in event. Scotty
  17. Andy....DO NOT blame the lack of attendance by the punters for the demise of Natfly! If the organisers had of listened to what the punters wanted and accepted the advice and support of those who have offered over the years, rather than putting on some half arsed event year after year, we wouldnt be in this situation. I am trying VERY hard to bite my tongue here! Scotty What is it that will get you (all of you who read this) interested in going to NATFLY Andy
  18. Chad...Glen McKnight did the sign work on my trailer. He does the car and boat wraps here. McKnight Signs. Scotty

  21. Just drove past Armidale Airport and looks like a plane has landed on it's belly. Bit hard to see but Ambos and Firies there. Scotty
