  1. Hi WayneGood to catchup. We'll do another fly in the Nynja next time for a longer flight. Was a great weekend at lakeside Airpark and the breaky on the sand. Thanks to Gary P for allowing the gathering and Scott for organising. Some photos of the flight with you along. Cheers Mike

These are the images that did not load up - 19 aircraft arrived for breaky.

Great Pics, bit too far for me to come from SA, but never know!!

  2. I agree, I've had mine for two years now, done 'bout 250 hours. If I'm not careful I'll wear it out!. Perhaps we could meet up at YWTO sometime & I'll tell ya a story about my visit to Gawler.

Interested to hear about your trip to Gawler, I fly from there. You also own a Zodiac 601 HDS? I have owned mine for a month.

  3. Thanks cooper. I really would like more details, to take to the next meeting of aeroscene where we discuss places to fly to.Maybe you could come along, it is at Parafield once a month.

I guess it would be an overnight trip from Gawler?

One I want to do too Bruce. Yes overnight trip for sure!!, maybe 2. I hope to be at the next meeting for aeroscene.

  4. Sorry for the confusion.I'm very much in the organizing and doing some test runs.

I did ask about Gawler as a possible destination - ERSA is silent on fuels..036_faint.gif.544c913aae3989c0f13fd9d3b82e4e2c.gif

    Avgas at Gawler 039_private_eyes.gif.ee730e198261239d6248af84b953d95f.gif..??

Yes the 360 is injected. Hartzell CSU unit etc.

I'll keep you posted as I go. I'm keen to see the RV market at Albany 024_cool.gif.7a88a3168ebd868f5549631161e2b369.gif

    Thanks again for the contact.

Just received the Avgas price at the Nullaborr Roadhouse today $3.40 per liter 095_cops.gif.448479f256bea28624eb539f739279b9.gif

Yes AvGas at Gawler, just arrange it with the Adelaide Soaring Club, will not be a problem (I am part of the club) as long as someone is there, ie during normal business hours, not far into town too or there is a bunk house at the club.

  5. Hi All,

I have just purchased a Zodiac CH 601 HDS. Now while it is hangared at the home base, I am planning on doing trips away and I would like to have a cover over the canopy.

Can anyone recommend a place to go to for this without breaking the bank?

    Thanks all.

  6. I hope the adjudicators do combine this with my original post. Hint Hint.As I stated in my post I am now in favour of using area. Reason being that Multicoms apply to several strips within reception of my home base, plus there is YGLA with a discreet frequency.

If I am using and listening to area I will not hear all those other irrelevant strip broadcasts, but I will hear anyone who broadcasts at my home strip, plus they will hear me. The only inconvenience of using area is that sometimes the frequency is too busy for me to broadcast, but then I just use see and avoid.

What really pisses me of is that there are a lot of pilots who will not use area and insist on using 126.7. That in my opinion is sheer stupidity and will land them in trouble if there is an incident and CASA investigate. It is also bad airmanship to completely disregard the requirements of CASA and consider they are above needing to comply.

If the discussion results in CASA saying we should use multicom or any other frequency I will happily comply, but I have only contempt for those who think they can make it up as they go along.

When I used area freq, air services tole me off and that I was on the wrong frequency.

  7. I made it back safe and sound yesterday, in my very 1st aircraft! exciting times. She's nicely settled in to her new spot in the hanger. I have to admit, I'm a new convert to Jabs, she handled and performed magnificently for the whole journey from Wollongong to Narromine to Coominya, some 587nm. And it was comfortable! My wife has been very supportive of of the purchase, but she says she's not keen to fly with me. However, she is keen to see it this afternoon..... there's hope!

Glad to hear you made it back safely.

  8. RA Aus provided an update on a facebook live session around 3 weeks ago. You can see the video on the below link and they talk about it at the 16:55 part. Some other good stuff in there (CTA is just before MTOW) so worth watching the lot.

For the increases weight, there will be a new Category G, with different requirements.

  9. I have a JP instruments FS-450 fuel flow and totaliser with only one sensor in the line between electric fuel pump and mechanical fuel pump (Royax 912ULS, similar plumbing as shown by Scre80). My fuel flow meter has been calibrated to read the correct fuel flow at cruise power and will read a bit high at WOT and a bit low on descent/low power. This is due to the fixed amount of the returned fuel (3-4lph) compensated at the cruise fuel flow of about 18lph.I have suggested to JP Instruments to provide a calibration function to off-set the return fuel from the total fuel to give a more accurate reading. They replied that they would look into that. Calibration would be easy: electric pump on, engine off, measured fuel flow is return volume.

A word of caution: if you have a LSA aircraft, you will need the approval of the manufacturer to change any of the plumbing or instrumentation.

    Cheers, Thomas

Thanks Thomas. My aircraft is a 19 registered, and I am not doing anything without speaking to our local Lame

  10. Well, I'm sitting in a motel room in Narromine after an epic flight to finally escape the clutches of the nasty Wollongong weather. 2 friendly and knowledgeable local instructors (Nev and Bruce) from Fly Illawara, and Rose from BOM, gave me some very helpful advice. Some nasty storms now to the north, but it should be good to make the home run via Warwick tomorrow morning.

    Tony

    Good to hear, safe flying.
