  1. great angle for that Glastar photo Philfy, Were you in a tower or similar for that great shot? Hihosland! Excellent photo , I reckon Angela will like this, great light, colour, emotion and enthusiasm for flight. By the way couldn`t resist using this new fab Michael Jackson smilie.:rilla:
  2. bum spots Ozzie. You might have to enlighten the masses on what you mean by "bum spots". Could be confusing to some.

G`Day Jay Nice 'problem' to have. Go for the biggest and fastest one! Enjoy buying /building your own plane
  4. Love the sound of the sea fury and went for a fly in Matts CT4, very nice indeed so agree with you. I also love the sound, smell of the gas and oil of radial engines. Some one should bottlle it.
  5. Sorry Robes, I dont remember you but I dont remember a lot about some of those weekends. Thanks for refueling and loading up though
  6. But Yenn How many lives were saved by having radios???????
  7. I just read thru this thread and you have come a long way in a short time Glen, just wanted to say well done. Photos looking good. I dont know anything much about this type of aircraft but I did enjoy two flights in a trike, yours looks looks like a fun machine. This thread is a great example of how well this website works to help everyone out and grow the recreational flyer spirit.

Its a great site Brad. have a look into the 'never ending story' thread its a hoot.
  9. Louie, My advice to all when considering buying is, sit back relax and take your time and I mean t-i-m-e to understand your self , your skills, what you want from flying and an aircraft then spend lots of time trying them out and becoming an expert in the ones you narrow down. Talk to everyone and God knows pilots hate talking especially about there own planes. There are lots of planes out there and making a quick buying decison only to find one months later that would have been better suited could be an expensive and discomforting lesson. The planes mentioned so far are good but take your time, its lots of fun doing the research.
  10. I`m a 10NM man. For GA If you have to give a position to ATC or answering another pilots request or whilst inbound the call is to be giving in nm from somewhere plus a bearing and a height so they know where you are. They dont know how fast you travel so using minutes is not as helpful to them. "Traffic Goolwa (CALL SIGN) is 6 minutes 30 seconds south west." My GPS is my secondary nav instrument.
  11. Pilots without radios..scary stuff. What kind of dumb ass flies without a radio? Radios should be made compulsory rather than Transponders. A necessary tool to be considerate of others in the sky. We do have to keep our eyeballs keenly peeled for the tightarse in the circuit trying to avoid paying landing charges thats for sure. But on the other hand, can too many gadgets be an issue? Sort of like driving a car whilst talking on the mobile phone plus at the same time watching and listening to the GPS road map, with some hot sheila with a miniskirt sitting beside you..
  12. Welcome undertaker. Trevor could be saying if you want to fly a chopper you may need an undertaker!!!!! Fortunately I know one . Welcome and take a look at the never ending story some time to see how crazy and funny this site can be.
  13. Didgee, All your hours will count towards an RA license. Your CFI can guide you or do it if he is licensed to teach in ultralights.
  14. Terry I can t visualize the depth and length of the scuffs and gouges you have but if paint wont fill them so you have to use something like good old epoxy bogs and take the paint in the area right back first. As the threads have suggested you need to clearly identify the paint type you have on your plane and use the same type of materials for the fix and re-paint. Compatibilty of paint, fillers and the base building material is everything in repairs to plastic fantastics so do your homework first. There is a lot of good info on rutan aircraft builders websites as well, you know the variezes, longeze builders. Try Canard Zone
  15. Same here but not just those EZ planes but also the development into space aircraft as well. Very admirable and great that it can be done on a comparitive shoestring.
  16. How do you find the cobra arrow to fly. Often wondered about them but never see any anywhere?
  17. Nice choice of aircraft Ingo
  18. Saw you today Steve over my house in Elwood. Hope you enjoyed it. Isee you like pushers. NEARLY BOUGHT A LONGEZE. I so much admire Rutan.
  19. Agreed. As I humbly learn more about aircraft, their engines and the humans that drive them my brain tells me that choppers are definitely to the extreme edge of my flying comfort. I opt for the simplest, safest engines and flight systems, i.e. manual flaps, non-retractable wheels, , steam gauges, Fuel injected certified engines and where the whole system can break down is the knob behind the knob behind the stick. But the choppers are exciting aren`t they? I always look up when I hear one and love the sound of those old iraquois.
  20. two meets maybe better than one You will never get all to agree on one place and have them all turn up. It might be better to have two meets in close succession, one more to the North of the country and one more to the South. This way the Nth, Middle & sth Queenslanders get to go to a meet with the NSW boys somewhere on the border and adventurous Mexicans & SA people may turn up. Then the reverse for a later meet say in Corowa /river region for the Mexicans, SA crowd, NSW boys and adventurous Q/Landers.
  21. Dry cleaning fluid, cigarette lighter fluid will do it too.
  22. shares Sharing is a mighty good way to get into plane ownership but it is hard to find a partner and then, right partner. You dont have to be friends but you do have to run the partnership strictly and businesslike. It is still an expensive toy at the end of the day so be prepared to pay for it. Dot the i`s cross the t`s and wish for good luck.
  23. Welcome, where is pacific haven airpark?
  24. Hi Foto Flyer, Please note there is a monthly photo competition on this site with a 6 month membership of Pacific flyer up for grabs. have a look.
  25. Absolutely. You could get sponsership too maybe. Help support the site type of marketing programme with your exposure to many flyers. Need to ensure there are plenty of subscribers picies in it as well to boost sales. You have heaps on this site. 3000 site members 300 sales at $19.50= $5850.00 Rec Fly takes say profit of $4 per each? = $1200. Photos ideally should be inspirational to encourage other people to fly. Dreamlike to reinforce why we do fly.(balloon shot) Calendar should be useful with dates of meets, fly ins, CASA mtgs, Oshkosh & wanaka dates, your birthday etc etc etc . Air services australia Sartime info perhaps. Cheers.
