  1. The people in this country have given Mr Stiff the business he has today because they believed the publicity and bought his products.
  2. Going to be a hell of a court case if it comes off. Got to feel sorry for the average man/woman who believes in supporting australian companies and purchased Jabiru. If the Camit engine is so good, how come jabiru branded ones are so bad. (if they are given the large amount of engines out there).. What percentage are we talking about. Fairly irresponsible to publish this without decisions being made. One way of spreading dissention and panic for no good rteason. All very well to say fit a rotax but who is going to be paying for that? Lets wait for all the facts before killing the fatted calf...
  3. would have got it except for the medical rules, wanting me to jump through very expensive hoops for a minor issue 6 years before I applied. Dont know about easier, and definitely not cheaper.
  4. andy, I have received 3 bills for landing fees so far from Raa Aus (ex avdata) that I did not run up. I proved they were not mine and they were withdrawn by avdata. How much did that cost us (Raa Aus) to do this for no result, (I always attempt to pay fees if I can.)
  5. If people just paid their landing fees there would not be a problem, after all, some of the forumites here think that we should be paying more anyway so what the heck. Try dodging landing fees at an airport where cta charges apply, which arm and leg do they want....just saying..
  6. You might try getting the Albury rules changed, might be easier than getting CASA to agree with all CTA. after all, I fly in and out of all sorts of Airports where passenger aircraft fly. Bathurst, Broken hill, Inverell, Armidale but to name a few. Just because someone sits in a tower shouldn't make it harder than doing it yourself.
  7. Not a priority for me, I fly a recreational aircraft, not a pseudo GA aircraft. Why the hell would I go head to head with a twin engine thingy or a 747 because I could. You want CTA, go GA.
  8. 2 stroke has always been there... had it on my cert for 7 years now...
  9. why would you not be surprised? Stood me in good stead for journey of over 3000km with many legs??
  10. Dont drink, dont smoke, next suggestion...?>??
  11. Oh well, if it gets too high there will be my aircraft for sale, resignation from Raa and I will take up boating, cheaper in the long run...
  12. David, I am real, the funds only go so far. If you have bottomless pockets then so be it, but some of us have to actually save money to be able to fly and enjoy the sport. $40 per year may not sound like much, but then hanger fees increase, flying training fees increase, landing fees at some of our airports are out of control and so on. May be chicken feed to you but not to others...
  13. Not all of us are company directors/ millionaires/rich bug.ers. Some of us work for a living and the yearly cost are a large expense for the average person. Any large (and $40 per year comes into that area) cost has to be weighted against continuing to fund a sport we love. With hangerage, aircraft costs, certificate costs, landing costs etc. Pain level can be reached fairly quickly.....just sayin' A furthur point, any suggestion of an increase "only for the time it takes to make the changes" is dreaming. Once the increase is in place, historically, they are never removed...
  14. I disagree with the increase. We have a situation where we pay for our certificates, pay for our aircraft rego. (over 200 per year combined) Membership is meant to include a magazine etc. We had an increase one or 2 years ago and promptly gave some idiot a golden handshake after employing him to do a job he never did. Why dont we use the available funds efficiently and correctly. Temora next year has been cancelled, they are looking at scrubbing the on shelf magazine, lets apply the savings back to the members instead of going in for a money grab.
  15. so if the magazine is canned, will we see a reduction in membership fees as that part of your membership has disappeared. I believe the magazine is part of the whole membership deal and as such, if it goes then we should be entitled to a reduction in membership fees. How do I stand with this opinion you legal eagles??
  16. I dont have a problem with paying them to attend board meetings at the normal places, if you read my posts you will find that I object to junkets etc. Board expenses are necessary, but lets keep them normal, especially when the powers to be are mooting another fee increase, looking at cancelling/reducing the magazine publication, etc.
  17. Yep re read it, still doesn't explain the junket outside Temora and Canberra, courses can be run in the office just as well. However, Methusala's comment is noted. My hat is off to those who do the governance job, its just the expenditure I am querying, not the people...
  18. With a perfectly good base in Fyshwick and a supposed flyin each year, why do we need to fly people all around the country and accomodate them when they can have the meetings twice a year any way. Lethbridge, jacobs wells and melbourne, yep, centres of civilization all. Can I carry bags to the next one and enjoy the extra to?
  19. If you are ever around Goulburn, we can do that also (Xair). Had my own close call.
  20. What the hell happened to just getting into an aircraft and flying for the fun of it. I thought it was called RECREATIONAL (you know, fun) aviation. Where the hell did the empire builders, golden handshakes, drunken GM's and bureaucratic bul..it come from. Some people need to take a big step back, get a reality check and think. The early guys in this sport did it for the sheer fun of it, why aren't we?
  21. They've taken it off as a test to see if they can save money so the empire builders can do something else with the money to loose it...
  22. "carry the debt till we can implement a system to cut staff wages" theres the quote. I would have thought efficient and proper management would fix things. So we throw more staff on the unemployment line. I give up...
  23. Geoff, where the hell do you get off cutting wages for a magazine, if I wouldnt be censored, I would tell you how offensive that is...
  24. Remember people, you are paying for your certificate renewal each year plus your aircraft registration each year. I am paying 210 plus 130 which equals 340 dollars a year. and you want to increase my fees, I dont think so,(you just did that recently). If 3000 members are in the same situation then you have $1 million plus for just those. Then the other 7000 members and their input financially makes a considerable sum of income per year. Has CASA been approached to contribute to the work they are creating (albeit from our previous incompetence). One would think the magazine would have been cost neutral given the advertising charges, returns from newsagents etc. How was it originally done when we were not in the financial troubles we are now. I dont know anything about our new head of state but I hope he can temper financial wisdom with people skills and not make a profit at the expense of the organisation (save the organisation, kill the income base?) Good luck to him.
  25. If the board is an agent for CASA then how about getting CASA to kick a bit more funding into the pot to enable us to carry out their wishes?? Do we have a contract with the magazine publisher that will cost us money to get out of? How does a magazine p[aid for by my yearly membership, and bundled as part of that fee all of a sudden become a subscription item and everyone assumes I, or all members have a computer and internet access to receive the electronic version of the mag.? Quite obviously the current membership is having to suffer for poor management decisions of previous administrations. Instead of pats on the back, life memberships and golden handshakes, why not get those responsible for the previous mismanagement to cough up the trough benefits they grabbed from all of us when fleeing the joint. Still, I suppose apathy is a wonderful thing. Members get what they vote for.
