  1. tried to find the maintainers thingy on the Ra-aaus website, got a message I was looking for something that wasn't there?
  2. Geez Pud, that looks great. Is the older one in the hanger the next project? Can't wait untill you publish the flight data after its first flight. Rag and Tube rock! (from an Xair owner Cheers Maynard
  3. Si if its all doom and gloom, do I shoot myself now or wait until they regulate the size of the bullet. This is bloody depressi ng stuff.....!!!!!!!
  4. I think OP needs a reality check, from another OP.
  5. With the current, ongoing!!! woes in Canberra, Instead of RAA-Aus becoming a serial employer, maybe someone should be outlining what the base issues are, how we fix them, what is required and then bite the bullet, spend the money, get in the expertise as a temp employment thing and just do it. The expertise should not have stupid amounts of money thrown at it, a la previous GM salaries!!, but payment for performance. Spend the money and fix it or there wont be one to fix. RAA-Aus have had a long time to address these problems and don't appear to be getting anywhere fast. The lack of information coming out of Canberra is woefull. If they need the members to help them then how about telling us what the base issues are, what is needed to fix the issues, what help is needed, then ask for goodness sake. After all, it is our organisation and we do have vested interest in its survival!!! Keep the day to day staff running things and make a special project out of correcting the stuffups. There appears, by what we hear out here in the bush, to be a lot of politics being played and to me this appears to be a case of keeping the cocktails coming while the ship sinks. No point in making yourself look really good is the salt water is going to stuff up your suit. The elected reps are put in place by the members to look after the organisartion, not to set up and maintain empires and appease their ego's. Most of the reps, I assume, are genuine and are trying but are they being given all the information they require.? How is it that well qualified people are being scared away, or dropped, from the organisation, regularly. Is there systemic management rot that needs clearing out? I, along with many others, am willing to put my hand up to help but we need to be told what we can do to help. I would like there to be a viable organisation remaining at the end of the day so I can fly my aircraft and enjoy myself. Maybe the idea of a second body is about right to be raised again?.....
  6. I had a problem with spikes in my Xcom radio, installed a seperate battery circuit, which could be taken in and out of the main circuit by a dash switch as a filter Works a treat. I found the spikes were occurring at startup. I start the aircraft and then switched the radio on. I run a 582 and use a key west regulator.
  7. What, lost the chips off their shoulders? Theres no satisfying some people. My chip is alive and healthy and enjoying my flying and flyins, no matter where.
  8. I fly rag and tube, 60 knots full speed, 50kt cruise. 2 stroke engine. I have flown from Goulburn into Queensland, into Victoria and out to Broken Hill and Cameron Corner. If the distances area to much maybe we should make it ayers rock to be central. I, for one, have no problems with the distances involved whether it is Narromine, Temora or broken hill. I have flown into Queensland and will be attending flyins there this year. If I wanted a safe and local flyin I would push for Canberra. No matter where you hold it, you will not satisfy all people. How do the victorians feel about Narromine as opposed to Temora? Old pilot, If you don't attend it is your loss.
  9. been to all at Temora, none at Narromine, the location is immaterial, the attitude and attendance of the members is. The temora council has done a great job with their facilities. No good bitching about the show if you don't turn up and support it. You can hold the thing in Canberra/Brisbane/Melbourne/Perth, if people don't attend and show an interest then its fairly pointless. As has been said a number of times, its what you do, not where you do it that matters. It is a fly in so why are you worried about a little cross country flight to get to it. I live in Goulburn and would fly to just about anywhere in eastern oz to attend one. (My machine wont do Perth fast enough).
  10. this thread is getting exceptionally boring and is going in circles. If you really want to help- the organisation survive, stop trying to play "I am better than you" and criticising everyone. We have elected these people to govern the organisation, so let them govern. If you guys are so bl...dy good, then why have you not put your hands up to assist and run for office. I agree we have some problems but instead of drowning the situation in fertilizer, how about stepping back and letting our elected reps try and do something. I personally joined this organisation to allow me to fly my ultralight aircraft. I dont want a pseudo GA organisation, I dont want to fly a pseodo GA aircraft and compete with 747's in controlled airspace. I just want to enjoy my flying. I wish you guys would get back to what the term "recreational flying" means. I am over this sh..t, either put up and help, or shut up and let the executive do their job.
  11. Received, checked, stamped, reviewed, noted, rechecked, restamped, edited, unedited, shuffled, itemised, read, annotated, checked, re reviewed, Passed on, stamped, entered and signed. Now on day 2............... (and their not even the public service.)
  12. So with my renewal due in September, I should do the paperwork and send it all in June, do you think? Its not rocket science is it!!!!!!
  13. I am still trying to find out why we are being sued over the sting crash at all. Surely any court action would involve the aircraft manufacturer/importer and not the body that issued the pilots certificate or aircraft approval. If the aircraft was run under RAA Aus rules, and the court case gets up then is it correct that we are all in the can because the rules and regulations mean nothing??
  14. Yep, slow, steady, a bit ragged around the edges but a lot of fun. Always get there in the end. Dont give a rats ... about fast and furious, What you see is what you get........sounds about right.
  15. Interesting thread. I have run 2 x 582 engines to date and have not been able to get the EGT's over 950 degrees. They nornally run about 900. or so. I have a thermostat in the engine, correct settings as per rotax on the carbs and still not able to get to the recommended temps. I have run these engines now for 5 years and apart from a little more fuel, they run well. The one time I tried to lean out the mizxture I blew a hole in one of the piston crowns at 400ft above the airfeild on take off (detonation|). The question of temps drove me mad for about 12 months and then I decided that if things were running right and about the right temps (albeit a little cool) then leave the damned things alone and enjoy flying. If some one has a magic fix for this please tell us. Indepenti, you are getting better figures than me so just enjoy the flying.
  16. Maj, I dont think anyone is criticising Wayne personaly, it is the system they are criticising. Wayne appears to be doing a great job so far and the communication is refreshing. Yes I have met the man when I refuelled my beast at Gunnedah on a longish trip.
  17. My Rego is due in August, so maybe I should send in the paperwork now and ask for an urgent process???!!!
  18. Check with your local airport owner and see if you can negotiate an avdata exemption fee for local flying/landings etc. I negotiated one with my local owner and pay a fixed yearly amount for all of the landings I do, or dont do. I have never objected to paying landing fees at airports I have landed at when travelling, as stated above, with the cost of fuel etc, the landing fee is minimal, and sometimes not even collected because I fly ultralight. I always give ident calls when landing or departing. I know that some people resort to not giving calls because of the avdata collection procedure being based on radio recordings but safety in the circuit comes first and I believe in being heard and seen, not taking my chances with other aircraft not knowing I am there. This is said as a private flyer, and I do not know what the charges are when relating to flying schools and commercial enterprises.
  19. At least I got this months, last months didn't arrive. Had to pick up a copy at NATFLY. Had to raid a mates copy to get the NATFLY booklet as well. My rego isn't even due yet, maybe they are softening me up for August!!!
  20. at least I got this months, didn't get last months at all, had to get one from the RAA Aus tent at Natfly.
  21. Well done Mr H!!!!!. Great film of my little beast at 10.41. Thank you...
