  1. Hi Mike, if I was an advertiser, I would move my advertising dollars over to the Aviator magazine and/or Australian Flying magazine.Mendelssohn advertise there from memory. I buy both the Aviator magazine and Australian Flying magazines as soon as they come out. Being 45 I guess I like to have a paper version in my hands. I am not adverse to electronic mags though, I read the Unsealed 4x4 magazine online which is delivered to me via email. That is a free magazine. I also get the Cycle Torque magazine (which is free) online as well.
  2. I would read the email Sam but I just checked and they haven't sent it yet. But thank you for the heads up. Maybe I missed something on the web page. I only go to the RAA web site to check out the members market and I can now go to the Aviation advertiser page for that now as they are in cahoots with the RAA and now have the members market aircraft on their web site. So no great loss if I cant log onto the RAA site.
  3. This is a interesting thread and just as a coincidence last week I completed a course which licences me as a Electrofusion and extrusion welder. A company from Melbourne called Polysmart flew up a instructor to teach and test us at work. Anyway we only deal mainly with HDPE but the extrustion guns can take different types of medium which is compatible with the material you're welding. Interesting stuff. The extrusion welding gun cost around $6000 so its not cheap.
  4. Funny, I tried to check the members market and it says error 404. I also tried to log in and it said that I have only previously registered and I would get a link sent to my email address to complete the log in details and that was 20 minutes ago. It doesn't look to good to me.
  5. I wasn't having a go at you, you are not the only one on here that types loose instead of lose. It happens a lot on here, dunno why. Anyway I asked the question because I wasn't sure whether you mean the regulations are loose in meaning and will need work if CASA was involved or did you mean lose as in the RAA will lose the regulations.
  6. Do you mean loose exemptions or lose exemptions ?
  7. No not at all, it is clear that L1 maintaners have overall been doing a good job. Not many accidents or incidence have been caused by maintenance carried out by L1 guys and gals. When I said in my original post that CASA should issues a Sport pilots licence , and I said including all endorsements I also meant to say including L1 , L2 ect, whatever the RPC has on it.
  8. And I am paying a lot more than that for a plastic credit card sized RPC that fits in my wallet.
  9. No worries mate, there is a company in Victoria whos website is www.plasweld.com.au . I dont think they sell drill bits as they are a plastic welding company but they do have some good tips on polycarbonate and acrylic ect. Worth a look. Click on the tips of the trade link.
  10. I also meant that we would still be able to maintain our aircraft like we still do now. Nothing changes apart from CASA simply issuing a " sports pilots licence". SAAA members can service their aircraft as long as they built it and do the maintenace course. The RAA imo is past its use by date. I am only a member because I have to be and we are paying through the nose for it and we dont even get a magazine anymore. My yearly Sporting shooters membership renewal turned up today and it only costs me $87 per year to be a member AND I get a excellent glossy monthly magazine . I dont read the online version and if I miss out on something important, so be it. PS- Going by the photos of the RAA staff wearing those hi viz vests in that propaganda photo shoot, they look like they have plenty of time and money to eat.
  11. Yup, that is a risk I am willing to take. I like level playing fields and we don't have one at the moment. RPC holders have to pay money yearly in registration fees and membership fees while others flying GA registered aircraft do not.
  12. There are also specifically designed drill bits for drilling poly available for purchase .
  13. Yes I will give my hard earned cash to somebody else so they can learn to fly. Said no one ever.
  14. Life woud be a lot simpler if pilots could send in a copy of their RPC to CASA and then CASA issue a Sport pilot licence with all of the RPC holders endorsements on it, with this licence allowing holders to fly RAA registered aircraft. With no need for the holders to be a member of the RAA.
  15. I got that email, I looked at it for about 10 seconds, then deleted it.
  16. Hangers are cheap, I get the wire ones.
  17. I was saying correct to the first two sentences, as to the last sentence about whether new certificate holders have to do a test or whatever, I dunno . It doesnt concern me or affect me as I have held a L1 for nearly 20 years and have an aircraft trade.
  18. My KTM 1190 has LED daytime running lights. They help a lot in making the bike and me visible.
  19. They make great dirt bike tyres as well.
