  1. For those of you on Facebook, one of Waynes daughters has set up a page http://www.facebook.com/wayne.s.fisher?fref=ts it would be nice to see some kind words of support for his family who must be going through hell. They are also organizing a memorial fly-in on April 5th at Lismore.
  2. I think it would be nice to send flowers, cards to Wayne's family, so they understand what he meant to our small aviation community, Tim (ausadvance) can advise on where to send them. I have also spoken to Steve R and several board members about Wayne receiving an award for his achievements in the pioneering of ultralighting in oz. I hope this is appropriate. I'm still in disbelief that he is no longer here.....
  3. I'm not going to get into this because I couldn't be bothered but I'll just say this. You're wrong, and ill-informed.
  4. Wayne was an inspiration to me as a young boy and contributed to my lifelong fascination with Drifters and ultralights. To say that I am shattered is an understatement. I spoke to Wayne just Friday morning seeking some of his invaluable advice about a few things on my Drifter, something I did often and as usual, he went over and above to ensure he could help me with my queries. It was such a comfort knowing that he was only a phone call away and knew everything you could ever know about Drifters. The loss to the rag and tube fraternity will be substantial but I also must acknowledge his loved ones and their loss which is more significant. I don't have the words to explain just how much this has saddened me.....I really wish I could have spent more time with him and known him more. This may sound cheesy but I will be taking my Drifter soaring tomorrow as a mark of respect for the 'Godfather of Drifters' - I am sure he'll be up there with me..... R.I.P Wayne. :'-(
  5. That would be interesting to see. Posting photos is very simple, can you try?
  6. This site says it was structural, right wing failed??? http://www.aircentre.com.au/newsdesk/current/news/wk3.htm
  7. I would say Gazelle's are 'very LP'
  8. Silly to just assume it was a drifter but you could be right I suppose??? http://www.aircentre.com.au/newsdesk/current/news/wk2.htm
  9. I think it sounded like he was his own worst enemy.
  10. Yes ''Aerodynamic'' was the word I was searching for, not structural
  11. Wayne Fisher reccommended that aerospace 303 stuff.
  12. I did notice the spats had vertical winglets on them, these type of spats blur the line between simple fairing and structural component.
  13. Some reports suggest a spat came off and went through the prop! ScarY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. You'll have to volunteer for it next time then, it's your organization too.

    Drifter owner

    WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!
  16. Hey Rank Yes it is actually, a very large international one! And they genuinely LOVED having my Drifter across the road, I took the stable hands for rides - they said the horses didn't bat an eyelid or care at all, same with the local farmers and pickers close by, they would always come up to me and say how cool it looked and how much fun I must be having..... The strip was just over 100 metres long but it runs up hill towards the hangar, one way in, one way out - no going around. I miss that place "Diggers Bridge"
  17. This was my strip before I moved to Boonah. Lots of fun but no room for error
