Apologies if I have upset anyone. I can't believe the Avocet crashed :-((((( was that the one with the back doors? What a shame I hope they rebuild. What happened?

I wouldn't say I'm a Jab basher......but you can call me whatever haha - I've done a lot of hours in jabs and they are an ...OK aircraft in the grand scheme of things, but anyone who has spent enough time around a hangar or flying club knows they have some serious drawbacks which spoils what could be a fantastic aircraft, an aircraft that in fact - will be, (once all the R+D - crashes/failures/modifiactions) are carried out by the R+D department. (the owners) I'm a Jabiru fan, I want to see them succeed, they are awesome, but why dance around the elephant in the room because you own one. Take a little browse at this page by experienced Pilot Carl Holden. http://www.jabirucrash.com/

I'll come out and say it I dont care too much what anyone thinks. Jabiru engines are hand grenades and all jabiru owners are unwitting members of Jabirus R+D department. Such a shame as they are otherwise great ac and could be so much better.

The Easiest Aircraft to learn to fly?
XP503 replied to 68volksy's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Point taken. In fact the instructor probably said something more along those lines. I also agree I don't think I've ever been bored no matter what I am flying either, bad wording on my behalf. Thanks for the pointers :-)))) -
The Easiest Aircraft to learn to fly?

Skyfox Gazelle. A blind 5 year old could fly one....... They are also very boring to fly. Having said that, when I was a hangar rat I watched a first solo pilot wheel barrow one into the ground and keep pushing forward again and again until the (very strong, Bill Whitney designed) nose wheel folded and down she went...........................the mind boggles....... Speaking to a VERY experienced/renowned instructor a few years later I was rambling about how easy the Gazelle was to fly and he said something that I will never forget "that may be so but it will still kill you'' Some may think that's a bit morbid but he is right, the minute we start thinking we can just fluff along because the plane is so easy to fly and we've done it a million times and we know this and we know that, just tell yourself.........this plane could kill me in an instant if I don't respect it. My 2 cents..... -
RAA Safety-Training-Compliance Coordinator appointed

Good to see him taking action and doing something proactive, don't be so quick to shoot him down. -
How did the plane land on its own? This story makes no sense.

I hope it goes well for her and she continues on, as I will need a pair of sails in not long....

Had a magnificent flight from Boonah to the Gold Coast today for lunch with Nanna. Superb conditions although overcast. Included a flight along the coastline and even a few chandelles and wingovers overhead the 'thrillseekers' at the QLD moto Park just outside Boonah.

This Sunday the RAAF base at Amberly is holding it's monthly heritage event showcasing their machines, and 14 or so ultralights from Boonah are being given special permission to come and put their aircraft on static display. Should be a great day.

Yawing right or Rolling right? I assume roll, as you state you have to hold left stick. Could be rigging, perhaps it is the more noticeable torque from the newer engine?

Thank you so much for this info guys!!!!

Hi guys. Does anyone out there know the correct way to descend with a 503 i.e what power setting? Do I go full idle for 500ft then power up to get temps then idle down another 500ft, or do I pull back to about mid range 3800rpm and cruise down. What is best for the engine? Thanks
-
Oh great, I need new skins too, Thanks Emah!!! Daz, let me know if you need my help with anything, no probs at all!

Trying to track down a copy of a video
XP503 replied to dan3111's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
I'd love to see it too! -
I've always loved them too Daz, there is some good vids on YT from some guy in the states, some of the things he does are a bit cowboy but he can obviously fly and it shows what the ac can do, they look awesome....

GA aircraft are just as ''unreliable'' as any aircraft since the Wright brothers. All pilots should take to the skies with a plan in place for when (not if) things go wrong, no matter what you are flying.
