What determines which prop you use????

They tell me that the "scimitar" prop changes it's pitch slightly, 

 

SO

 

That's the next on my chopping block for the HummelBird.

 

Only cost $60 or so in materials for the 37 inch HB prop.

What do you build a prop from. I know most people use a laminated block, but I have seen a prop built from a special plywood, that had most of its plies running the span of the prop and a lesser number running across the props width.
