How come I didn't get a Chinese accent after 13 months in Zhongguo....

I can only guess it is because of the different languages. Were as in my case and Nevs case, all the countries involved speak english.

Well, er,. . . yeah. . . .sort of. . . A japanese lady "friend" learned English whilst staying in New York for 2 years,. . .then she got a job at a university department in Swansea ( Wales ) oh dear. . . lookyou isn't it boybach iachi da. . . . . "sort of" English 'ish . . the poor woman said she could barely understand anything for several weeks. . .! She's quite good at Welshanese now though.
