  1. Can you take a screen shot and post it...it is probably something to do with your own device
  2. Both the Whats New (Unread) and Whats New (All) are defaulted to Condensed...the site remembers what your last view was, whether it was Condensed or Expanded though
  3. As usual, @Ahmed Zayed has done great work in redesigning the Gallery home pages so I will be working on getting the content sorted out...so now is the time, urgent time, to make any recommendations for the way you want the gallery set up
  4. Not yet, was waiting for the developer to get back to me regarding an issue
  5. The site's "About Us" page has been added...you can find it in the Support section at: https://www.recreationalflying.com/about_us/
  6. I have just completed setting up the First Class membership that provides First Class members with many extra privileges across the site and assigned existing First Class members to that special user group. You can tell which members financially support this great resource as their user name is in GOLD and they have a special First Class image on their profile page. Donations of $50 or more places you in the First Class member user group. I have added a button in the side column of the main Forums List page and at the bottom of the Whats New pages if you would also like to donate towards the running costs of the site, help to keep Recreational Flying (.com) here for all recreational aviators and become a First Class member. Donation page: https://www.recreationalflying.com/subscriptions/ A huge thank you to every First Class member for your support over the years, you make this great resource available to every recreational aviator.
  7. Please note that the normal weekly email that gets sent out each Sunday morning with the latest popular threads will not be coming as I need to get a software solution to add to the site that will perform this weekly task...I hope you understand...I will get there
  8. For standard users it is 15mins, for First Cless members it is 30mins
  9. Hi @IBob, have a look at this post as in this one it explains how to set the Whats new (All) as the default...you can set any Whats New stream as your default and even create your own view using the filters at the top of the Whats New page: https://www.recreationalflying.com/topic/36880-site-update-comments/?do=findComment&comment=493284&_rid=1
  10. For "Mark all items read" have a look in the top right corner under the header which says "Mark site read" For "Mark forum read", there is a link at the top of the forum list of threads To edit a post, click the 3 dots in the top right corner of the post Hope this helps!
  11. Hi @IBob, not sure what you mean by this...can you elaborate?
  12. Hi @IBob, to add another menu item like Whats New (All) to the side menu will take up extra real estate when I know we are going to be looking for extra space on there as it is in due course. However. clicking the Whats New in the side menu will take you to either Whats new (Unread) OR Whats New (All) depending on what you have set as your Whats New default...is that ok by you?
  13. Can you try and clear the Recreational Flying .com Cookie...to do that look for your browser in the following linked page and perform the actions for your specific browser: https://www.lifewire.com/clear-cookies-for-one-site-4587347
  14. This is a test using my Son’s iPad Pro...works ok
  15. Thought I would create a thread where you can post what would be the greatest flight you wish you could do... A flight that I would really like to do is fly the Nile...starting at Burundi, south of the equator, along the whole length of The Nile, through Egypt, stop off and have a cup of tea with @Ahmed Zayed, see the Pyramids, have a drink from The Nile and have dinner with a "Queen of the Nile" and end up finishing at the Mediterranean Sea. What a trip that would be, the history, the vastness etc and I am not even sure if it could be done like is there landing strips along the way, fuel, permits etc but still it would be an incredible flight to do. Yours?
  16. What is it about it that you don't like? Please let me know so I can see what the issues may be
  17. Thanks for letting me know...Is it now in dd/mm/yyyy format for you now?
  18. Update... Been working on the First Class membership program The Blogs have been migrated over but I am not happy the way they look on a 1024x768 screen (like iPads)...will work on that Looked at migrating the Groups over however an addon that will provide categories for Groups (is needed) hasn't been updated to this version of software yet...bummer, will keep pursuing I don't think there is any point migrating the upcoming Events until we can get past COVID There is a lot more to do but is there anything URGENT that you need??? Oh, also @Ahmed Zayed has done some work on minimising some of the excess white space which has resulted in a better look...in my opinion, hope yours as well, and there is still some more work to do in that area but not a priority at this stage
  19. Yes they will within the next couple of days

    Why I don't fly now

The biggest problem is I get the Aurora Australis lights every time I close my eyes...this is what I see all night long with my eyes closed, and even a lot during the day with my eyes open: Corrine went and purchased a bed side clock with huge 2" numbers so i could see them:

    Bertin X-8

100hp from 8 cyl, I wonder why they made the cyl/pots so small but it would be one hell of a smooth engine when running

    Why I don't fly now

Thanks guys for the comments, to take the stick when flying with someone else would have to be with an instructor due to needing a biannual now which given my eye sight I would struggle getting and nor would it be the right thing to do...legally and morally. I should get my new glasses at the end of next week which will help with the actual magnification and talking to my eye specialist the other day he says that in a couple of years he will be forced to do something to correct my so called good eye...cataracts and a plastic lens. He is extremely reluctant to touch though as if anything went wrong I would be blind, full stop. I have been trying to get him to try and fix the detached retina but he says due to the type and severity of the detachment it is extremely risky so he won't. I told him to pull the darn thing out then as it is causing too many issues with my sight but he said that if anything happened to my other eye he would be forced to try and fix the detachment as I would be blind anyway so best to leave it in. Probably like many others, I could get by without hearing, speech or smell but sight...that is the worst I reckon

    Why I don't fly now

Went to my eye specialist as my eyesight is extremely bad now. I have had a detached retina in one eye for about 6 months, my bad eye which now has a plastic lens, a cornea graft and still can't see out of it, which has now got worse. I close my eyes and I still see a coloured lit area that makes it hard to go to sleep. My good eye has a cataract so I see double and my glasses are pretty darn strong already so basically I can't see out of one eye, see double with the other and having dancing lights when I close my eyes and try to sleep. They are stuffed
  24. Well, here we are with the new Blog System that I hope you may use to blog about whatever is on your mind you can even use the Blog system to run a complete blog on building an aircraft or whatever aviation activity that you would like to run your own blog on. YOU control your blog, YOU can make it public or private to whoever you would like to invite to see it, YOU can control what you place into it and what comments others make...so please, use the Blog System as you like, it is your own area so enjoy, and enjoy reading other user's blogs.
  25. We must take a moment and give EXTREME thanks to @Ahmed Zayed for spending hours all night developing a way to migrate all the Aircraft in the Aircraft Section...if he hadn't been able to achieve this then we would have been stuck on xenforo and the gaming style web site software direction they are now going...words would fail me to say how appreciative I am for him doing this and as I am sure you all are as well. Now, the Aircraft section uses an open style part of the software, that is I can create a separate database and pages that calls data from that database for anything I like, and that the site needs, unlike the closed software sections that are pre-built like the Forums, Gallery, Groups, Calendar etc. There are several databases I want to create for the site like Tutorials, Famous Aviators, etc and I would like to have them all have the same look and feel to make it easier for users and thus the Aircraft section would be amongst them. Once I have completed the migration etc of the closed software sections I will come up with a design that will suit all the database driven pages. I hope this helps to explain the process that I am taking
