  1. Its a shame we don't have a list of importers WEB sites somewhere, none seem to advertise......guess its word of mouth. JBs? NONE of our family will ever shop there, again after how I was treated.....their CEO is a SOS, NO skills of negotiation.

    582 to 912

I have been told it can be done by a man who would know. I did not ask the question, I simply told him I was dropping in a new 582 complete and he mentioned it in passing. For me a Thruster is a Thruster.......not interested in shredding the skins off it at 5000 feet trying to eek a few more knots out of it 🙂
  3. How many importers become agents for an aircraft and stock NOTHING, or can't get in reasonable time. When I want to buy something, I want it in reasonable time. I phoned a supplier here in Australia for a plane to BUY and all I got was a long winded waffle about how there is no money in it blah blah. Look, I was in business for 30 years and at times had in excess of $100,000 stock of miniature radio gear, I ended up with customers in 11 countries as a distributor and engineering support......ALL on my own, with Mrs in the office. Today, IF I started an Aviation Agency, I would be in a 747 flying around meeting people to set up my agencies with, thats how I did it years ago in radio. I would work out my plan, order $300,00 of kits 'n bits into stock and when I had it all.....open for trading and just do it.......be a good start 🙂 Would like to order in 4 Aerolite 103 kits and just bloody do it 🙂. 12 months wait on orders from them right now. Importers here need to get off their arse an do some sales and marketing, and sell stuff people can afford to buy......not super plastic fantastics full of ' Home And Away' screens 🙂 AND have stock that IF a prospective customer shows interest, THEN break his leg......get an order and a bank cheque of him and just DO it. 2 days ago, I went to Officeworks with my Mrs to get her a new iPad and was greeted at the door by a Drone (first impressions). I said would like to buy an iPad please, opening line was we don't have any Pro models in stock and don't know when they are coming. OK, what other choices are there? he i opened his phone and looked on to their WEB site and thrust the phone at me to look any it.......well my Mrs knew whats next......she bolted 2 aisles away! I said FFS, you are a salesman SHOW me the actual units, Im not squinting at your stupid phone. I bought what I wanted and the nice counter jumper at the till asked if I had all I needed, I said yes but no credit to your knuckle dragger in aisle 3 who needs heaps of training 🙂 I could rave on some more......but the thought will give me depression......
  4. Well for me it now comes to this…….I will do what ever it takes to possibly increase my chances of surviving any fatal event in an aircraft I have control of. I don’t care of statistics, I care about possibilities as if the time you may need a ‘chute’ and you don’t have one……you are screwed definitely. If you have it and never need it, having it is no loss. Instructors train pilots thats it……it up to the pilot to further their knowledge and abilities to make themselves as safe as they can be. Lack of regular hours is probably a major problem that causes ‘rustiness’. I have an MCR licence, covers road trains down……how long since I drove one of those combinations? Be 15 years or more, IF someone asked me to do a ‘run’ now? I would refuse it, becauseI my skills are too rusty to do the job safely.
  5. You roll the dice when you leave the ground in a heavier than air machine, powered by a mechanical device 🙂 You roll the dice when you drive your mechanical contrivance to the corner shop and dont wear a seatbelt because you think they are useless 🙂
  6. Well, messing with Avplan tonight and think I found a good feature for the Aera GPS. Can import the flight plan from Avplan to the GPS 🙂
  7. Not looking at a parachute as the ‘easy’ way out…….it’s part of the overall safety strategy. Besides I told my wife I would always fly solo with a parachute, to make her feel a bit happier. I have to keep her happy 🙂. What man has a wife that a husband can walk in the door 3 weeks ago and tell her just bought another plane, no she did not throw the fridge at me, but simply said ‘I hope it’s a nice one’ 🙂.
  8. IF I am ever going to carry PAX I will have one for them 🙂 Whilst I am flying with Instructor, no parachutes at all!
  9. This is my option……Mini Softie E-CP146 http://www.softieparachutes.com/parachute-models/
  10. 25 rego is factory built and can be used as a flying school aircraft. That was my main reason for me to go that way, I can be trained in it. Whereas my 19 rego aircraft was not built by me, so I cannot train in it? However, I can do endorsements in it I believe.
  11. Nev, who are the SAAA, is their HQ at Taree? I joined AOPA and made some enquiries with them on another matter and the silence is deafening nearly 2 months later…….so I am not going there, they just wanted my membership money by the looks. Their WEB site has info from the Dinosaur age on it 🙂
  12. Nev, I wonder IF the engineering requirements are different between a 19 or 25 rego aircraft, in essence they should not be as its a modification to an aircraft despite rego differences? One would think that engineering costs are the same, regardless of rego status?
  13. Yes, and I am pleased about that standard, too. One of the reasons I bought it. Well, will see what happens…..but IF some engineer decides I am a gold mine for the taking……for a primary safety item in an aircraft that is not rocket science to fit……then I will have something to say IF the cost can’t be justified. My last experience with an engineer turned my Aeropup into a flying death trap that my totally unqualified self is still working on it to make it right.
  14. Sure will be in ‘NO lockdown’ Queensland 🙂
  15. Personal friend of mine in the U.S. just ordered a new Aerolite 103 with Hirth 23 for delivery in 12 months time.
  16. Ferry pilot delivering mine last week 🙂
  17. I am going to finish my training in my newly acquired Thruster T300 🙂. Can’t wait!
  18. I guess my main e reason is medical at my age, whilst I am fit and can walk/run quite well it possible to take a turn for no reason. Studying internal medicine for 8 years has taught me a lot and the older I get, the closer I get to having a problem with little prior warning. A BRS may not save me in a medical event BUT it may save me cleaning up someone with the plane IF it all goes pear shaped.
  19. Well, you would think our powers that be would facilitate the fitment of BRS, I am not saying MANDATE. Being a safety item I thought some kind of interest may have been shown by RAA when I enquired, they and CASA are always banging on about safety. I make an enquiry and get the impression I have been branded a leper. Well, I am not expecting them to have all the answers but showing interest would be a good start. Probably too big of an ask of RAA, members, just keep tipping your yearly membership fees into the coffers, and do as we say.……
  20. This coming week I am ordering a new complete factory crate Rotax 582 with gearbox and ancillaries. I need to make my mind up on getting it with oil injection, or just running it on premix fuel? Its delivery time is January ‘22 so I have a wait ahead. So, what says the brains trust? I just feel oil injection is another thing to go wrong, having experience with motorcycles for many years.
  21. Medical emergency, pilot becomes sick or incapacitated and realises they can no longer fly the aircraft…..
  22. Ordinarily I would just find what I thought would do the job and DIY the whole thing. Nothing I ever designed and built in the last 55 years has ever fallen down, come apart, compromised anyone’s safety etc. BUT IF I do this to a 25 Rego aircraft, some snitch would see me in RAA gaol 😞 I have seen too many engineers have major FUBAR in my life. Well maybe I need to find pics of that Thruster so fitted, so I can submit it with my application 🙂 They are mandatory fit in Europe now……
  23. Something I have always done is research IF I am shy of knowledge on a subject. I would only hope IF someone is on the staff of RAA they would make sure they schooled themselves on any thing that has wings, pertaining to Recreational Aviation.
