    For many, it’s not about money……I had big business opportunities offered to me IF I agreed to move to the U.S. I declined as I have never been about swimming pools, movie stars and fast cars. I have happily lived in the bush doing the things I enjoy. Money is not everything in this life. So long as you can enjoy yourself, buy some food etc. I built a new house 15 years ago and the builder specced in a dishwasher, I said WHY……you are talking to the ‘dishwasher’ 🙂

    They would sell more aircraft IF they offer it as reasonable priced factory build or a near completed factory build…….many of us don’t have enough life left to home build and fly, before we die 😞

    And sadly RAA Flying Schools @ $300 plus per hour are pricing themselves out of business, one has just closed at Gympie that charged that money, THEN the Council lumped them with $13.20 per landing but as many as you like for the next hour only. So, everyone that benefited from that Flying School has lost out, including Council. Will the future of RAA Flying Schools stand the coming inflation and interest rates? Only IF they choose to run lower budget aircraft from ALAs? Our future may not be so rosy unless people get creative…….

    Yep, the general Australian attitude, no worries mate as I have a fridge full of grog, a colour TV that runs and if it doesn’t there is always Hardly Normal and After Pay 🙂. There is only a problem when the Brewery has gone broke, the fridge blew up and Hardy Normal is out of business and can’t get new TV. Party is over 😞. Just like the airfields no one wants to fight for 😞

    And the Aviation community need to put their shoulders to the wheel, too. AOPA’s skills of negotiation need to change too, some of the videos are a bit much for me, by all means say throw away lines in the right circumstances are OK, but you never know who gets to see those videos in the future.

    I have just had a steaming argument with AOPA over this very subject, suffice to say that in some cases they are giving CPR to a dead whale, expecting it to spring back to life. BIG money dictates the future. Other plans have to be made or some GA people will be parking their Lear Jets in their home driveways 😞. I am no longer a member, as I have nothing to contribute that AOPA will listen to…….

    Just call them on the mobile, leave radio on but not ask anything over radio lest someone snitches to CASA about me getting some advantage in respect of rules etc. Can’t trust many human beings these days 🙂 Big mistake in letting people know what you are upto other than the usual commonsense safety things.

    Won’t get anything in writing, that is for sure. IF SHTF, I do have pretty good negotiating skills though. I will just work on that plan 🙂

    Turbs, you are the one always on about rules etc. I am saying I have to break rules to do what I need, that incidentally won’t harm anyone…..but as you always say ‘rules are rules’ Anyway, you seem to have a set on me tonight? I don’t remember pee’ing your Weeties this morning?

    Can’t go over 1000 above mean sea level, so that leaves me 350 AGL. Spoke with Rocky ATC, gave them location. They have said they will let me fly out of here, buts it’s not strictly to the written rule…… sometimes the written rules are stupid anyway. Just like some of the airspace changes ASA want to make.

    In my area I have NONE, with airstrip at 650 feet above MSL. and controlled airspace breathing down my neck 😞

    IF they have engine failure, can you have too much knowledge? Besides some controlled airspace restrictions mean you have to fly low?

    Maybe the local energy provider can supply power line mapping for an area people wish to fly in?
