  1. Just give us a replacement for the 582 motor…..
  2. By the time Air Services have finished stuffing up our airspace changes, we will all need Low Level Endorsements just to even fly at all 😞
  3. Dan at Wings Out West near Dubbo does it……
  4. I own enough vehicles and spare parts to keep me in useable vehicles until I die 🙂. NONE of this modern stuff I like, want, or NEED 🙂
  5. And when it breaks out of warranty…..you throw the whole thing in the bin and start again 😞
  6. We had International TD18 Bulldozers in the Army that were petrol/diesel. You fired them up on petrol warmed them up and then cut them over to diesel. Jut had to reverse the situation before you shut them down as it was difficult to restart again IF it was stopped on diesel. Then the Army got wise and issued us with new CAT D7Es, no roll frames or canopies, just worked them sitting in the hot Sun, all day 😞
  7. They show the Scarlet 5s as being still made, but the smaller models are no longer. I was thinking about an 80hp replacement for my 912 80hp. Maybe a lost dream but still worth a look 🙂
  8. Would like to consider the Scarlet 5s to replace my Rotax 80hp in my Aeropup. http://www.vernermotor.com/page1.html
  9. I really want the system to work, I guess there are no total guarantees but to have a Skyecho2 is a good start. I know range is not good at lower heights but ECDs should still be way better than nothing.
  10. But the IFR aviators usually fly a lot higher than the lowly RAAus VFR pilots? Anyway the Skyecho2 will do me until we end up with the decisions they want to make…..bet I will be DEAD by the time that happens, if past history is anything to go by…..
  11. Back in the early ‘70s the Army had the same attitude. We used to take our LARC Vs out under the pretext of doing the monthly ‘water test’ so we would go fishing off Cronulla Beach near a Bombora at the eastern end. This day we decided to head up the George’s River off Botany Bay and due to some pi$$ poor navigation, we ran aground on some Oyster Beds 🙂 This guy came at us in his boat and abused us to the max…..so we simply said ‘send the bill to Army HQ they will cover it’ and away we went, nothing more said……
  12. We are probably up against Pandemic variables as well. Fancy being stuck in another state lockdown and camping under wing for 2 months 🙂
  13. I reckon some planning needs to be done 🙂
  14. No trouble for my Truster to be ‘under the radar’ 🙂
  15. I am sure all the people who currently have Skyecho2 will keep using them regardless. Probably wait years for the Mode S plan to leave its ‘holding pattern’ 🙂
  16. I am hoping that ECDs are well catered for as they represent a reasonable cost solution and are the best solution for minimalist aircraft. Portability between aircraft for those who own more than one aircraft is important, too.
  17. I will hurry up and WAIT…….. 🙂
  18. Me being the doomsday merchant sees a flurry of implementation rules. To fit Mode S to a Piper Cub or similar that has no electrical system as such, will require an approved charging system to be fitted etc etc?? RAAus can do it’s best to ‘advocate’ what we should have, but getting that has no guarantee. Just look at the airspace debacle……
  19. Then comes a mandate with start date for ALL aircraft to have Mode S fitted??
  20. A good start would be for ALL aircraft and ALL ATCs be able to ‘see’ ECDs, Skyecho etc…….
  21. All day parking fee at Wesley Hospital Bris multilevel car park. No parking for planes though 🙂
  22. Military of today are Snowflakes, no guts…no glory. In my military days, IF something was no good I told them, AND had a plan to fix it. Just like Aeroprakt of recent times, was interested in an aircraft but wanted some logical and safe engineering changes and was told in no uncertain terms a big NO. So I said forget it…… Same at Brumby Cowra, gave them my request for a change and was told NO, walked out the door……. Plenty of choices in this World, even for the military…….
  23. My Dingo digger with a 23hp Kohler V Twin motor did the same, no reason. $1000 in parts to fix…….
