  1. Microair has issued a Service Bulletin No: M760 SB-017 to its Warranty Service Centres located in:- USA - Erie Aviation ([email protected] ) Canada - Brant Aero ([email protected] ) France - I.P.C.O. ([email protected] ) Australia - Microair Avionics ([email protected] ) advising that we have identified a component in a range of transceivers that In the cases where this occurrence has appeared the LED annunciator will go green and not respond to any squelch adjustment. In this condition no receiver audio will be heard. The units that may show this occurrence range from Serial Numbers 12092 through to 12466 inclusive. Microair recommends that any transceivers in the affected serial number range be modified at the earliest convenient time. These units are to be returned to a Microair Approved Warranty Service Centre for rectification. Contact details are listed above and also can be found on the website at Microair Avionics under the Warranty Support tab. Thanks Tomo. In getting that for you, I read it properly. I still get audio, just can't squelch out the background. So it's not the same symptom.
  2. I've already had a reply from microair repair. They doubt that the P rev would have the affected component, but they will wait until I get the serial number. They invited me to send it back for a bench check, but odds are it won't fail on the bench. How do I not fly long enough to send it back? I think mine might be more heat than humidity anyway. At least I will stop looking for other airframe factors and concentrate on the radio now.
  3. That was insensitive of me. Yours was a perfectly good title too. As long as you didn't need to know what the thread was about before you went in.
  4. No prob Bluey. It's a much better title. Tomo, did you get your RAAus mag yet? There's a big booklet in there with everything you need to know about flying in and out. It's shaping up to be huge if the weather cooperates.
  5. Wallaby stuffed. That's the symptom I've been putting up with for 3 years - and mine's a P rev. I'll have to check the serial number. Often the second flight of the day would produce constant signal reception (noise) which couldn't be squelched out. Maybe I'll find peace at last. Now to understand women. PS - merci beaucoup pour votre réponse Michel.
  6. This question was asked in another thread with a less descriptive title, so I merged the replies into here.
  7. Don't think that's been 'shopped Doug, it just popped up on a Google Image search. It does look like a spinner though. I'd go with the spots like the photo, but then I'm partial to spots.
  8. That one gives me a PHP error. I believe he moved the site to the URL in my previous post.
  9. What site? If you mean this one (http://www.pemet.com.au/), it works for me.
  10. Looks fantastic Doug. Almost like a real Eagle Ray
  11. The multimedia guy (Dean Covell) finally rang me today - only 4 weeks! He says that their legal people advised that the best way forward for them was to create their own YouTube channel. This is happening now (CASA now - that would be like "island time" in Pacific nations), then we can link to there. He also offered to provide training packs to us. There are new videos in the works for the Class D changes and mandatory carriage of radios coming in on June 3rd. They will go up on the YouTube channel too.
  12. I remembered after posting. Offer open to anyone though. I'll send the file tonight Ray.
  13. Ray, if you don't feel confident with the hacking to get OziExplorerCE running, I can send you an SD card already set up. Just plug it in and turn it on. That goes for anyone who wants to get their own Mio. I just did that for forum member HunterJ and it worked straight away. Too easy.
  14. That's good news Jay. 1) - not sure what that does. I would instead select "create waypoint" and give it a name. Then pop up the waypoint list, select it and hit "goto". Before you turn it off next, do a "save waypoints to file" so it's there next time. When I get back to one of mine I'll give "track GPS" a go, but I think it just turns tracking back on (the map follows your progress). 2) I presume you mean the PC version? Yep, download and install it to your PC, then either connect the device to your PC or take out the SD card and put it in a reader connected to your PC. Then find \OziExplorerCE\Maps on the card and copy the contents to C:\Program Files\OziExplorer\Maps (or wherever you installed Ozi). Then you'll be able to load all your maps in Ozi on the PC for planning, waypoints, routes, etc. Because I haven't flown your way yet, I have no waypoints in the MainWays.wpt file. On your PC, you could create all the waypoints you think you'll need and save them to that file (or your own). Then transfer the waypoint file to the SD card and they'll appear in the list. It's easier to create them on the PC than on the Mio (the on-screen keyboard is a bit fiddly). There is another waypoint file on the SD (allWays.wpt I think) which I created out of a list MapTrax included with some maps. It should have the main ones. You're welcome. I have 2 more units which I'm planning to take to Natfly ready to go - if nobody wants them before then. Maynard (robinsm) grabbed the 3rd today for his first long trip in the X-Air.
  15. You can only go to 600kg if LSA. This table is from another bit on the Jabiru website. Factory Complete Aircraft Comparison UL-D J120 J160 J170 J230 Seats 2 2 2 2 2 Registration RAA RAA/VH RAA/VH RAA/VH RAA/VH Engine 2200cc 2200cc 2200cc 2200cc 3300cc Fuel in wings (except J120 begind the seats) 70 ltrs 65 ltrs 135ltrs 135ltrs 135ltrs MTOW 450 kg 500 kg 540 kg 600 kg 600kg The website appears to state in multiple places that only the 170 and 230 are LSA. You're right about the info being inconsistent though. Edit - that didn't cut and paste too well. Just read them in order.
  16. Their website says MTOW is 540Kg for 160D and 160C. It looks there like the D is factory built and C is the kit.
  17. And people who moderate a forum don't have any friends at all.
  18. You're not paranoid if they're really out to get you. The Morgan Sierra will be LSA and will cruise at 135kn with the 3300 option.
  19. Telstra are more expensive, but it doesn't need to be as much as Bass' post if you buy your phone outright. There are monthly plans as low as $20, and the $10 data pack gives you 150Mb per month - which is enough to check weather and NAIPS quite a bit.
  20. I think the green is the main thing they test for Allie.
  21. My request for a test might have had something to do with my criminal record - they're a weird mob at CASA. Raptor, when it passes the taste test, you're ready for the medical.
  22. Great news for training establishments. Garry Morgan is proceeding with LSA certification - initially for the Sierra and the Cougar. These planes will be perfect for training. Low wing, low cost, easy maintenance, high performance, plenty of space and tough as nails. This will also mean a 600kg MTOW. Another reason they will be perfect for schools - long legs. They are great aircraft for touring. They will take 2 people, 100 litres of fuel and still have spare weight to fill the copious storage areas with stuff. So you can rent them out to ex-students who want to start spreading their wings. Of course, I'm biased. You should make your own judgement. Call Garry and have a chat. Even better - go for a fly. The certification is not expected to take long. Steve Bell is all over it like rivets on a Sportstar.
