  1. Guys at Temora. I would love to catch up with you all tomorrow. I was marshalling on the bike or in the tower all afternoon, so missed most of you. My plane is on Garry's stand (we have 5 planes across 3 plots- a major exhibitor) and I should be there all morning. Please seek me out. Went to The OzRunways prez this evening. Was a hoot. I love this software. Bas and Rowan are doing awesome things. I've almost forgiven them for forcing me to buy an iPad.
  2. Photos please Kev. Looks tantalizingly good in your avatar. Congrats too. Welcome to the happy camper club.
  3. Perhaps we should wait for the movie to come out and not spoil the ending.
  4. I was walking across the road at lunch, when it struck what I'd said. I nearly fell over laughing. You would have noticed that.
  5. Thanks Jake. So, solder them and feed them into a yellow spade? Sounds good.
  6. Thanks guys. I have a quality crimper. The main problem is how to join the 3 wires - they won't all fit into a spade connector. One thought I had was to put each wire into a ring connector and bolt them together with one leading to a spade. Do it again for the pair. Both spades then onto the switch. I would support the bolts so they don't move around. Another thought was that there must be a proper bus type product out there. A forum would be good Jake.
  7. I am replacing my master avionics switch. It got a little intermittent the last few flights. There are 3 wires on one side and 2 on the other. We originally soldered the wires to the switch terminals. This means the solder is doing the mechanical work as well as the electrical. What's the right way to join the wires and attach them to the switch terminals via spades? Thanks, Ross
  8. Fantastic Ian. Congrats. It looks really good. Shouldn't it be a dual-cab sav?
  9. Thanks Kevin. Thanks David. I had a ball hanging out with you crazy bastards too. I'm going to include our flight together in the next video. Do you mind having your mug broadcast? It will be interesting to see you trying to stall it.
  10. Thanks again. Dexter, I installed the 32 bit version to match the OS (Vista). I've had almost no issues with it, just a couple of crashes. I'm finding 4Gb of memory just enough. I'll add some more. No trouble with sound, except that most of it was noise. I've ordered a mic adapter and a cable to patch the audio from the headset lead into it. Only one camera. I used some footage from the weekend before for the wing mounted shots.Hence my continuity comment. Glen, yes that was Maynard in front of me at Goulburn. Not for long though, you can see me slide underneath him just after take-off. I warned him of course. I thought he was just doing a shakeout flight. I didn't think there was enough time for him to get to Temora, but he made it.
  11. Thanks guys. Yep water - not foam. They were having a fire bombing practice day. Andy, it's the Drift Innovation 170 HD. I stick it around the plane with a suction cup mount and some hundred mile an hour tape across the front to stop it lifting and to give me some warm and fuzzy. I bought it from a Perth company online. I highly recommend them. They didn't have the spare higher capacity battery in stock, so when I asked for a loaner to get me through the weekend they cheerfully agreed and I had it the next day. Now that's customer service.
  12. Here's part 1 of my vid of the Natfly. Mainly, the flight there. I have just bought a HD camera and PowerDirector9, so this is a learning experience. Also, no external mic yet. I should have one next time. I like the way Dexter did his. The audio from the camera was basically useless, so it's all some music I thought appropriate (and from my era). Warning - it's 9 minutes of your life you will not get back. Ever. If you have to live 9 minutes longer, my work here is done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQa-XT8iOP4 PS - Go fullscreen. Change to HD if you can handle it. Oh yeah - I sacked the continuity girl. She wouldn't put out. Ignore the obvious errors.
  13. ..... sign marking dangerous territory. Or in the local vernacular, "Thar be dragons". "Mmm," mused slartiphartblast to himself, although he didn't say his name - he knew who he was talking to. "I can't help feeling that I may have had something to do with the dangerous territory the NES is now in." "Wait a minute!" yelled Nanna tangentially. "Who is this yeti and what has he done with the elves?" "Oh, that's just ......
  14. I've thanked Carol a number of times, but if replies in this thread are to be the measure of her worth, then even the lurkers should post. Well done Carol, and thanks again. If I could do anything more about you getting shafted I would. (I poked a few hornet nests on the weekend)
  15. ... a quorum. "Wait a minute", said a very red faced Santa. "I've just remembered what you did with the 7 dwarves. It can't be coincidence that only one of them was happy!" "Ah," said Nanna cautiously. "that was simply a misunderstanding." "They didn't have enough....
  16. Really? I've been in IT for 35 years and I didn't. Then again the web server I run is internal. I don't do internet facing stuff - that's a whole new ball game. Yes, I'm talking about the function in this new software which allows banning/blocking by IP - and none are specified here. The point is, we haven't blocked RAAus office staff. Perhaps I need to crawl back in my box. I seem to have been stirring a bit since the weekend. I blame David's port.
  17. There's a good example cficare - he's claiming that Ian has blocked all the RAAus staff members by IP. I can state that there are no IPs blocked by this site whatsoever. Also, claims that Ian runs this site for profit are patently ridiculous. Even with proceeds from the shop and donations, he still uses his own money. That crap gets my goat. But hey - I'm just a sycophant. Great to meet you BTW - although briefly.
  18. Absolutely Ian. I didn't think it necessary to point out that it was rubbish, but thanks for doing so. Your reference to starting rumours on this site - is that happening? I can't think of one off hand.
  19. The Morgan Cheetah and Sierra can be modified during build to fit anyone. Tons of room available. As usual with aviation there is a trade-off. Wider and higher means more drag and therefore slower cruise. I'm 6'1" and have heaps of room. There's still 12 inches in front of my feet before the storage divider. I raised the turtle deck a bit, and scooped the seat to the bottom of the cockpit. Comfortable as a very comfortable thing, and I've never hit my head.
