  1. I probably used the wrong words but in the past you have often made comments about you designing prime movers and other things like 11r tyres ,maybe I misunderstand what you say. It always looks like you are the driving force behind almost everything to do with transport in this country. And yes I am in the transport industry and have a small fleet of trucks which I wish was even smaller.
  2. why would you be contacted by raa , seriously tell us why. i can't decide if you are full of crap or not. you drop hints about designing the australian transport industry among other things. there is no substance , not once do you say what you actually do or provide any proof. i don't say this to be nasty, i would just like a bit of background or proof that its all true.
  3. used to fly to work on quantas link. they served mines and towns in the goldfields and pilbara.
  4. we also did perth mel return with compass and it was a great trip both ways except we had to board on the tarmac in a tent from memory.
  5. i flew tiger to perth once and i boarded at tullamarine. lucky i barrack for collingwood because all the passengers looked like they did.😁
  6. You can buy a kit to fit a BMW r100 to an xair. There are 9 flying in the UK ATM and going very well.
  7. I was wondering how long before that came up. I did say the Honda motor would be a good aircraft engine😁
  8. The big build takes all the resources that should be fixing roads. The wet weather the last few years caused a lot of them.
  9. 300 kg. The v4 is 97 with gearbox. There are sts that have done 500,000 km and still going.
  10. I have an old Honda st1100. Its only 100 HP but you still need to be careful on the throttle. I just stripped the forks , doing Bush's and seals, then a full service and timing belt. If I don't feel confident riding someone will get a good tourer ready to go. That v4 would make a lovely aircraft engine.
  11. in the raa training we are taught to set up for landing quite a way and control the shallow descent with throttle. a couple of older pilots i have spoken to at the airfield reckon this was a bad way to land, they were trained by ag pilots to come in high and drop in on the runway so they can always make it if the engine fails. i am probably stirring the pot saying this but i can see the logic in it. quite often coming in to land in the tecnam if it wasn't for a burst of throttle we would land short of the runway, just inexperience i guess.
  12. motorcycling in victoria makes ultralights look pretty safe. its funny the perception people have , my wife wants to ride pillion with me yet refuses to go in an ultralight at all. i think she might change her mind once she experiences it.
  13. i went for a ride the other day after 25 years and i needed another set of eyes, cars tailgating me at 100 , cars switching lanes without notice. you have to on the ball.
  14. well my wife is terrified i will have a plane crash, i put her mind at ease and bought an 1100 cc motorbike instead.😁
  15. $1500 plus postage. thats cheap.
  16. Yes. That's what all the dramas is over. He got signed off with everything after only 4 or 5 hrs flight training.
  17. I don't disagree about training. I am saying the pilot in question made the decision to fly when another person left his plane in the hangar because the weather was bad and the airfield manager said when he heard Matt taking off he was surprised anyone would fly in those conditions.
  18. i stand my earlier comment that the pilot took a risk knowing how bad the weather was on the day. surely you don't need extensive training to decide if you should fly or not. this case is causing a huge ripple through raa and casa. i think thats why they have cracked down on everything.
  19. i didn't realise you were the only one allowed to be funny. i will ask your permission next time.
  20. braised steak doesn't last long in our house😁
