  1. I mite have a few wing tanks and vg model parts left after this weekend buying a box lot of stuff just to get a few things I need ,there will be a vg bare fuse as well .
  2. I have no problem with any report at all, just have a problem with no Foxbat owner even knows anything about it due to lack of passing any info on which might save some one . How many 601 wing spars folded up before someone thought it might not be the pilot or lack of maintenance.
  3. I though ignorant was I person that owned one and don,t acknowledge that it could happen to them as well .
  4. If you go to any fly in you see a lot worse then this even in GA air craft . Yes screen show small craze in corners plane was under two years old . How ever with the design there no support in the middle centre tubes going down like a lot of aircraft so screen is like a car just held around edge . So under big stress a weakness any where and all over red rover with only 2mm poly carbonate . Craze also folks can happen any time any where so there is no redunency in design .
  5. It's like this storchy Things do get reported then they go into Black file file the same one one that lost all the rego info , now when a aircraft lands in a Ferris wheel for a ride with out paying mind you . Mr CASA has quick check and starts kicking bums . What has changed since then .? They wouldn't think just to let owns of type a quick email just to check items as reports come in .
  6. Sorry never happened never will ,I'm dreaming .
  7. I know of one fox bat that no one rushes to fly as fuel vapor locks are there time to time . Know of a different foxbat lost its windscreen in flight no warning I bet RAA has not even told all owners of this? after it,s been reported with photos . Safety ??? what would be unsafe about losing your wrind screen at 85 knots doors blowing off why would let owners know that might scare them wouldn,t make sence to keep owners in the loop . If it was the raaf all off type would be grounded until all check in place? any one agree ? I think there would only be 10 percent of people report there jabiru engine problems we been there and done that and moved on some one else can be a test rig .
  8. I do wounder about trikes after this? I can hear john now saying "bolikes danny wash your mouth out danny" (in his excited pommy voice) . I have spent many hours over the years grinding away beside his trike in my fixed wing two stroke ultralight aircraft on cross country trips . I have only ever been in one trike at Evans head (wasn't with john but wish it was ) looking back I,m lucky to be a live . Back then was in a brand new just released 582 quazser ? with a cowboy pilot flying decided to see if he could get 100mph vne and a full power dive I didn,t know any better or the risks of a trike in a dive close to negative G being just a pax at 20 years of age (one of my nine lives used up ) . But John was just so careful 100 percent more then most for this to happen to him and lived and breathed trikes and never had any bad to say about trikes I didn't fly them but had nothing against them as well and always happy to fly beside him . As quite a few times he had pulled up beside my wing flying on the way back from the training area when he happen to see me heading out . John had also lost friends that flew trikes around the world over the years and had told me the storys and learnt from it . I really hope they leave no stone unturned in there hunt for the cause of this horrible horrible thing (worst that life can ever throw at you ) for everybody involved around him . Then maybe after all the finding of this some systems can make trikes a lot safer then have ever been . To be honest after this I don,t think will ever go in a trike again . As no one is safe in trikes if one of the best all round trike CFI pilots have this happen to him . RIP JOHN (sorry John for saying some thing bad about trikes )
  9. Risk is a hard think to gauge at times throw hole flying anything above the ground and can just be the most simple things at times. I have lost count how many times I have seen what left of a aircraft pulling frames still on front of a aircraft taxing up to the fuel depot . If you don,t fly much your risk is less, but low hours per year you aren,t as good at it, so your risk goes up the same . There is a lot of double edge swords in life dammed if you do and dammed if you don.t. How ever flying risk for a income is a (high one) as you don't have a lot of choice if the work is there you have to take it . Most of us work 40 hour week rain or shine at a work place ,but flying for a living is hard Saturday sunday flat stick if weather will let you then look for as much work as you can throw the week a few crums here and there . So you don,t often get to pick and chose your hours , weather or your aircraft or not if you need a pay packet at the end of the week .Us weekend flyers you often have a lot of choices you can pick the machine you would like to buy and fly . You get to chose weather you feel up to pulling it out of the hanger are just have a hanger talk (bullshit ) to fill in the weekend. dan
  10. I think John did his best in he's special way to be as safest as he could be doing aviation as a primary income . As well as he set a good example to those who flew around him and took being a CFI very seriously and was no cow boy at all . I remember he was standing beside me when I got the phone call that Wayne fisher had passed away he was in shock . I have often chatted in the hang with on the Risks of flying and learning from accidents around the place. In the months ahead I do hope they can piece together what happened so he can part all of us teaching us our final lesson to help us stay safe . When I learnt to fly back in the late 80,s at the age 15 there was a god father of scout ,kestrel ultralights called Ces . He pulled me aside and drummed into us don,t fly other people's planes as murph laws often comes into play . Ces came To forced he,s rule as lost is best friend many years before I started in flying someone else's plane . Murph,s law got Wayne fisher and the magor , and now our much loved John . So you do ponder as Ces is still alive and driving at 90 . Rip John
  11. It's a very sad weekend for Caboolture we have lost one of core members which was up training very weekend bring new people to the sport three axis and weight shaft . He hangered a few doors up from me and was so excited when he had a new student to start teaching in the trikes . I only spoke to him a week ago about how keen he was instructing and said he hasn't lost any drive to teach as yet and loved it . Years back I flew my aircraft beside him and his wife Julie to narromine we all had a ball for the five days . I could never say have seen him do anything wrong and was one of the most experienced Raa instuctors in austraila bar none . Has flown and trike around Australia ,across Africa ,throw Europe country's as well . Also as flown and instructed dozens of 3 axis aircraft as well . He will be missed and my hart goes out to his wife and family . Your friend Danny
  12. I have a passage set of brake line valves and bake peddles and master cylinders coming off my Savannah for sale or swamp some thing I can use .
  13. If you are a good hunter you can find good second hand rotax a around , there are a lot of aircraft out there have been written off in storms etc . You should be able to get a safe engine around the $10 000 with a lot of lfe in it . If you work five days a week you are flat out to do 50 hours a year flying .
  14. I think at the end of the day the rotax 100ph is the best motor for the savannah , yes sky is the limit you can put any engine to like but you can spend a lot more in the end . My savannah the previous owner put 4 different engines in it vw, werner ,582 ,912 80hp , then I put 100 hp rotax after flying it with the 80 hp for a few hours. Rotax 80hp not a lot of power (75knot at 5000 rpm) it is 500 rpm faster for same speed then the 100 hp rotax . So if you added up all the money he spent say no more also all his time testing .
  15. Hi there Just thought I would start a thread for (savannah only parts) for, beg, borrow ,swap, trade or sale . Most savannah owner would have some little parts floating around there sheds or hangers that can be traded for other stuff you maybe could use . Some of the savannah parts are the same no matter what model it is ,classic ,VG, XL,XLS, having said that I will have to have a shed clean out soon to and list some as well . cheers Daniel
  16. I have mounted my 12v booster pump beside the header tank on the savannah to help reduce air locks when header tank gets low the fuel pump is then protected with a fuel strainer before is to take large junks out .
  17. I have been on the ground at two different jab crashes ,one was throw a fence and the other one was throw powers lines .In both of those cases all four people talked away very lucky ,both aircraft had about the same damage windscreen out and engine down on the ground wings folded back. Very sad to see this gentle man not be so lucky and passing away .
  18. My VG Sannah no fuel but head sets my vg is fitted with xl ring mount and cowl and is 305 kt with using 3 x proper race car scales with lcd readout . Most bath room sales are out when you start getting over 100kgs on each scale so you can ezy be out 15 kg on you tare weight . A lot of xl and xls are 320 to 330 kg it all adds up the more crap you put in it .
  19. Hi there i made sleeves to change from roller bearing to sealed ball bears , i think the ones i used were 3/4 od to 1 5/8 od . I have a the aero trainer on front with axle 15 mm lowered and have the 8.00 x6 turf gligers on the back on my savannah ,i think is the best of bolth worlds . The main are great on the bumps but you can use low pressure and not over big in Od of tyre when you go to the next size up on 701 you have to go to the twin caliper brakes on each wheel .
  20. Mark will not mind me hi jacking his page :) any one have one only savannah Vg wing rib (front D rib and main rib ) i could get a loan of for a week or too . WIL pay postage either way to me and also was chasing a few photos of inside the wings as well . Just scatch building a set of wings for a project . cheers daniel
  21. Hi There I have already have a vg savannah and happy with its performance :) . however instead of tv at night i have got a one off project going to make a savannah wing for . So chasing a set of plastic fuel tanks for a savannah and does any one have any drawing of savannah vg wing or a rib i can loan to make a patern off . I have a set of 701 plans but there is some differents on rear spar and rib shape . Any help would be well recieved. cheers daniel
  22. Maybe we need Hinch as Pm and Pauline as duputy at least the crime would be less :) . And there might be NO SHAME :)
  23. I think the party,s were totally shocked how she went at the polls and how things have changed not having her idea,s in goverment asking questions , i,m only 40 and back when i was a kid politicion had a bit of repect and where repected , bank mangers the same boat ,police ,fire and ambo'S as well ,. Now poltitions just sell out to highest bidder NO MATTER WHAT , bank mangers have no power , police have lost there repect of people (many due to traffic duty) , fire and amb'os are just punching bags for drug user. and out of touch judges that should be in nursing homes just let them all off .
