  1. Goodaye all Been a while since l updated you all on my progress, been busy at work and putting power steering on the 57 Chev. The rudder is close to completion, my oldest son has been deburring and helping out. Had to cut my bench height 60mm because of the rudder post hitting the roof. Also have decided to use solid riverts on the trailing edge for asthetics. The ship with my engine leaves Florida on Sunday and gets her 23 July. For a bit of fun can anybody identify the bike in the back off the second picture? regards Bruce

  3. l have used Stabil in fuel for 2 of my cars that may not get used for a couple of months, with great results. One a low performance moter and the other hi performance. Its the one in the avatar that is the worst. l also beleive it is recomended for use in aircraft engined by the SAA in the States. regards Bruce

  6. Goodaye all Well l have to admit l am getting older. Today l got my first pair of bifcal or transition glasses. Certernly different. Do people use single lens for flying or just use there bifocales all the time? l find the perifial vision is a bit blurred. l could proberly get by wityh single vision for flying and driving. Marking out on the plane l had been taking them off. regards Bruce
  7. Not logging the hours, my thoughts are it takes as long as it takes. No l havent built a aircraft before. But l have restored a 52 Chev, 57 Chev, 40 Chev and fiddled with lots of Holdens. Also have a couple of bits a paper on the wall saying l am a engineer. If l change somthing l always check it with Gary. Just have to get used to building lite. regards Bruce

  9. Firewall fitted Now working on the tailpost and rudder. starting to look like a plane and not a boat. regards Bruce
  10. It has been delayed due to ECU and flexable coupling refinments. l have pointed out a number of people are watching. regards Bruce
  11. Its the other side on the edge, l would have arivet head on one side and the horibble pulled bit on the other. just trying to neaten that up. regards Bruce

Goodaye all What is the thoughts of bonding trailing edes instead of riverting? l have been using sikaflex for sealing and bonding before riverting, soon l will be doing the tail and was thinking of bonding the rudder and elevator trailing edges. Is there a better product or method? The Couger uses pop rivets on the edges, l am looking for a neater finish. regards Bruce

  17. Goodaye all Finished the lower skin, hopefully l can prime it this week and rivet it on. regards Bruce
  18. Goodaye all Been busy preping the bottom skin and making the floor frame. Found l dont have anywhere near enough cleco's. (orded more) Have a sore hand from cutting drilling and use of cleco's. Using a great Aluminium deoxidiser that was recomended to me by truck body builder. (inexpensive safe and goes far) Looked at the aircraft spruce catalouge something to use as a tie down point and a step that could be fitted to the fusulauge. Is there anything off the shelf anywhere or should l make my own? regards Bruce
  19. Just a update. Had my first SAA inspection yesterday, all is very good. Been busy cleaning, sanding, polishing the fusulauge in readyness for undercoat. My Viking engine will leave the State's this week. regards Bruce
  20. Its now illegal to run avgas in road cars, also the engine has to be tuned to take full advantage of it. Mind you l would'nt mind putting in 10% for the next dyno day. regards Bruce
  21. Every one knows you dont have room for a restroom in a Sierra, you need a Couger to fit in. So there's no confusion. regards Bruce
