  1. Goodaye all Fire sleeves on the engine hoses will be a given, l am tring to build this thing as safe as possible. Just worried about vibration fatiuge using aluminium to the fuel cells, being plastic it will move a bit. Found a nice nylon braided hose suitable for all types of fuels and is lightweight, suits AN stuff as well. http://www.russellperformance.com/mc/hose/proclassic.shtml l am thinking using this through the cabin. regards Bruce
  2. Goodaye all Thanks for that, was hoping for more input from others. Leaning towards using Aeromotive AN6 stuff to the main valve and aluminium to the pumps. regards Bruce
  3. Goodaye all After a to long a break from building l am finaly back to the garage. Questions is what are people using for fuel lines inside there fuselauge? l have AN8 from the tanks then need to go to a selector valve then onto the low pressure side of the pumps. l can easily get aeromotive braided hoses designed to use in race car cabins, could be a bit heavy though. Aluminium tube?? Silicone/rubber flexiable hose?? or a combination of both?? The system will be capable of using alachol fuels safley. l also have to have a return back to the tanks. regards Bruce
  4. Should add that both my instructor and CFI are not fans of homebuilt aircraft and l understand that. Already l have seen things in homebuilts l would not feel comfortable with, maybe some people should not build there own aircraft. A couple of instructor's would be pleased to fly my Couger when its finished and my thoughts are to have as many CPL and testpilot coments before l finish the test period. regards Bruce
  5. l know its in my log book and its uptodate, but l try to ignore the hours and went when l and my instructor were very comfortable. CFI was very pleased with my abilities. Its too easy to convert hours into $$$$$$$$$$$ spent. l AM going to complete my PPL theroy around christmas, but life happens. regards Bruce
  6. Thanks Fella's, took me a little longer than l expected, but l feel comfortable in the aircraft now and hence safer. Means also l can divert some funds back into the Cougar. regards Bruce
  7. Goodaye all Perfect day to fly and pass a GFPT test. regards Bruce
  8. The Law and Justice are two entirely different things. regards Bruce
  9. Goodaye Tim l looked very carfully at kits available 2 years ago and the Couger ticked my boxes. However l did go out on a limb with Kit #1 and the Viking. l would have been happy to delete the rear seats, but they stay and wont get used that often. Biggest thing is running costs, mine will be much lower than if it was fitted with a Jab or 0-320 Originally the Viking was marketed at 115hp, and can do 117hp at redline 6600 and that was before the new upgrade. Something to keep in mind more power=more costs. The airframe is solid, with some clever contruction techniuqes being employed in the design. Best of all Gary is a phone call, email away and always answers questions promptley. He's a easy bloke to speak to as well. l would be intersted in what changes Gary makes for more weight and power of the 0320, there's talk of a turbo Viking in the future. regards Bruce
  10. Did you see my pics of the fuel cell setup in the Couger? regards Bruce
  11. Goodaye all Just working on tire sizing and need some dimensions. Not getting any out of the google machine Need a dimensions on 5.00 by 5 inch 5.50 by 5 inch 350-135 and finaly a 6.00 by 6 Thinking of fitting using a 350-135 tire on the 5 inch rim to get a larger diameter. regards Bruce
  12. l should get 17lts on a cruise with the Viking, but l dont beleive that so 20lts at around 125 knots. Thats what l expect, hopefuly fact is 17lt at 130knts. If it turns into 22lts at 11oknts l will be a little dissapointed. But a lot of my deceissions were based on cost of running. Viking uses Premium unleaded, its a Honda so wont require more than a service through its life. Get my maintence ticket. Renew the engine, buy a crate motor from my local Honda dealer. So a saving on the purchase price may not be a ongoing saving. regards Bruce
  13. Yes RCI poly fuel cells, used in drag racing. regards Bruce
  14. Acturley 2000w. Cost only $79 too. regards Bruce
  15. Goodaye all Have roughly fitted the fuel cells in the fusulauge. Front one in. The front one hangs on 2 extra braces l had to put in with 2 straps going around it to secure it, l may use 2 side strapes as well. The staps shown are tempory, l need to finalize the height when installing the filler neck. Had to face the fittings forward so as not to interfere with the pedals. Rear one. Had to use some angle to allow the tank to hang from the rear parcel shelf brace, will be handy to fit a cover too. The front is supported by the V brace. Using angle for bracing the shelf l have caputed the tank to keep it form moving sideways. Staps will be rubberised and some foam will be used to keep all metal from contact with the tanks. Being someone who likes the idea of visuel checks on fuel levals before take off, the front tank can be dipped and the rear tank will have a visuel tube showing the leval between the rear seats. l will still have guages but it confirms what the guages say. Also got a new edition for the garage. Can you see it? Have some SAAA members coming around on Sunday to chew the fat. regards Bruce
  16. Here you go. And on the set. regards Bruce
  17. It was Mrs Biggs, a English production about the wife of the great train robber. Supplied a HG Premier for use as a undcover cop car for two days. Ment to come out next year to mark the 50th anerversy of the Great train Robery. You get fed well, meet a few faces you have seen before on TV and it pays very well. Paid for the rego and insurence of all my cars for the year. regards Bruce
  18. Doh. Having 4 children l buy washing powder in bulk, result is lots of plastic buckets. The square ones are much better, cut them in half and store cleco's and clamps in and there bright yellow so there harder for me to loose. regards bruce
  19. yep, but really it should be fine. regards Bruce
  20. Gary suggested using the front tank first, l can fudge the weight and balance a little with the battery location. regards Bruce
  21. Goodaye all Got my fuel cells today. 2off 61 litre poly fuel cells, approved for NANDRA Drag Racing with all fuels. Methonol, Nitromethane, PULP and Avgas, even has AN fittings. Both are also foam filled. l have to fit cylindrical feul senders, finger filter for the feed line but it has all teh connections l need. Fuel pickup, fuel drain, return and breather. And turf the cap and inlet and make a neck. This is where the back one is going. And the front one. They weigh 7.2 kgs each and that put my weight creep up to about 25kg, but it shouldnt increase any more. l need to confirm the volume lost to foam at a guess l will have 115lts available when the tanks are brimmed. l am planning mounting straps at this stage. regards Bruce
  22. l can do the manifold myself without a lot of effort, but yes midrange would suffer the most. Mmmmm tuned length manifold. regards Bruce
  23. l quickly read some of the posts on other forums and it seems that the love hate is the case. l have found him cagy on the new figures on the new manifold, so at this stage l wont be ordering one. But it is a experimental aircraft l am building, the latest ECU program is available and will proberly get upgraded again before my first flight. The Viking will have a few hours on different aircraft by then as well. As l said l feel comfortable with the workmanship of the conversion. regards Bruce
  24. Goodaye all l knew some people where having problems with suport on the Subaroo and it seems people love or hate him. At this stage it make little difference to me, l have all l need. Will keep you posted. regards Bruce
