If I may, Ian would be so pleased to see that his life has not been totally in vain. To know that we have reached all of you with our message is of great comfort. There are many treatments for prostate cancer now and more being developed with research. Please remember to also make sure YOU get the results of your tests, dont just assume the GP will get back to you if something is wrong. Please keep this conversation going, and beyond this forum would be even better! I thank you all warmly for your sympathy and support. Gay

As usual Frank you are doing your bit for the ultralight scene, and more particularly the Drifter. You are very generous with your time and aircraft, and more power to you because of that. It's easy to see your most recent passengers enjoyed themselves greatly. Keep well mate. Pud

G'day Tomo, Thruster vs Drifter eh? I did all my ab initio training in a Drifter and absolutely loved it. They are a great aircraft with some unique features, including the 'broomstick' feel from the front seat. It can be quite disconcerting flying along without being able to see the wing. Great view too. The Thruster, for me, suits my purposes better, but does not have quite the performance of the Drifter. In addition, the Thruster has a few 'quirks' that can bite you if you are inattentive, especially on landing and roll out. The Drifter has a better glide ratio, is easier to land, cruises about 5 knts faster and will cost a bit more than a comparable Thruster, from what I can see. The Thruster glides like a brick, can be uncomfortable after an hour in the air, is fun to fly (and land), and is a fairly tough "agricultural" type of aircraft. I reckon the Thruster is great for a fun machine but not so good for long distance flying. Good luck with the research Tomo. Pud

Not sure if it is this model, or just a close relative, but there is a Sigma4 in the most Westerly hangar at Northam Airfield. At least, it was there last time I looked. Never seen it fly though. Pud

A bit hard to do on the ol' T500 Thruster:wink: This time of year though, I cover part of my radiator elements to ensure sufficient engine temps. Pud

If you are asking me - yes I do, and it works just fine when tested out of the engine. Pud

Yep, heard about this - it's known as a "Cold seizure". I'm always wary, especially at this time of the year, during any decent or in the circuit, that I adequately maintain engine temperature. Pud

Thanks for that Bill. I watched the lot, and was hoping for that throaty Merlin sound - not enough of it in my opinion. Did you notice the pigeon at 21.14, overtaking the train? Pud

You would definitely have your ears pinned back in the Javelin at much more than 35knts David. What does the Javelin stall at straight and level? Pud
