    Apparently with out power the Cirrus is a unsafe heap of crap I would not get in one.

    I had some expensive damage due to a storm. Two trailers wrecked one had a Skyfox in it. This season is very bad.

    As you know that is different when you know when and where to look also the missile was supposed to be coming towards them and in the cockpit you are normally looking forward and scanning to the sides and that would only be if airline guys even do that.

    I don't, I was descending into Kilcoy one time in a drifter and two Kestrels went past one either side of me going the opposite direction way too close for comfort and I did not see them till it was too late. These were slow moving aircraft that should be much easier to see than a missile. I do not believe it would be possible for the pilot to spot a missile coming towards him.

    It is much the same as the stories about drones being sighted and avoided.

    How does a pilot eyeball a missile and avoid it in a passenger jet? Sounds like more BS to me.

    Yes they do but they are getting older nearly everybody I know is 60 plus. what is offered at most schools?

    Keith I think it is mainly about money the AUF was based on affordable aviation. Now we are so close to GA the average onlooker would not be able to tell the difference. The average young person paying off a house, raising a family will not be able to afford what we have now.

    I am pretty sure he got it horribly wrong, very sad.

    Pretty good I think considering how hard it would be working. Someone tried to fly a twin back home to Bankstown on one engine a few years ago and sadly did not make it.

    Probably at least 1000 metres or it wouldn't have lights.

    Shortly after the accident the operators attended a memorial service for those that died and they were made unwelcome.

    I imagine you would have more idea about this stuff than me. I always thought piston engine twins are dodgy on one motor especially the Chieftain. I have been told more than once you are lucky if you can maintain height and landing as soon as possible is best.

    Could Kadina have been a possibility? It's got lights.

    I can't find the aerodromes on York Peninsular I thought would be there. I was in the area at the time and knew two people on the plane everything I stated in post 98 I got from the news and people I thought were reliable. The last thing I would want to do is state untrue stuff.

    Over York Peninsular, I was told by a commercial pilot there were 3 options on York Peninsular all much closer than Whyalla. I will have to check which they most likely were.

    When that Piper lost power with the first engine over York Peninsular there was more than one airport where it could have safely landed, but the pilot tried to fly to Whyalla on one engine. In that situation the remaining engine could not handle the extra load and blew up as well. Just imagine the cost and inconvenience to the airline operators if the safe thing was done and it was landed on York Peninsular. Prior to this, aircraft with engine problems had been safely landed at the nearest airport but because of the inconvenience in that situation pilots were told to bring the plane back to Whyalla on one engine which is criminal. I don't care what the coronial enquiry did these guys had blood on their hands and not only should have been shut down but gaoled as well.

    I started hearing bad things about Jabiru in about 1992 and it has gone right through to now, to me the point here is the poster assumed the accident was the fault of Jabiru when he really did not know if it was.

    There are no certainties in life but I was told the same as post 12.

    He doesn't look like he will ever fly a plane again.
