  1. Hey Red, that is an awesome feeling. I clearly remember going for my first fly. No instruction, just flying for the fun of it. My instructor called me up and offered me a burl with him in a friend's Jabiru SP (the flying schools' J160 was in the middle of having a overhaul, so we were both itching for a fly). Just to be sitting there, looking at the scenery was great, and really refreshing after many circuits. Keep up the good work!
  2. Hey Damoski, thanks! Congratulations to you, too! I'll remember that! As for a track logger I use GPS Sport Tracker for my Windows Mobile Phone. It works well enough, but the moment I am able to I'm switching to Android. A lot of great apps there! There was one day that it went haywire - it thought I was flying in a straight line Nth of Mildura, but I was just doing circuits at home! Other than that, it's been good.
  3. Yes, very clever Nev. Yep, they are in there Jake.
  4. Hey! I resemble that remark! Oops, Don! I didn't mean it like that... I meant that I finished reading about the candidates and thought it was the end of the magazine.
  5. I agree with Don. I'm very much looking forward to flying with my Dad. It's something that I've wanted to do since I understood what an aeroplane was and the fact that he could fly them.
  6. Ah ha! Thanks Steve, it appears that I forgot about that little article right at the end. I must have stopped after directly after reading the candidate statements! Hehe. I might do that. I've been hanging out for the latest issue so I know the email address to send some contributions I've got.
  7. Bugger. I loaned May/Jun to a GA student pilot friend of mine (trying to lure him to the other side!). I received Jul on Friday, Rod.
  8. Page 13 of the July issue? I still don't see it...
  9. I'd do it! ...Now where did I put that winning Tattslotto ticket?
  10. Received mine yesterday! It is a genuine improvement on the first issue! The flow between articles and ads was a lot better, the members' market is huuuuuge, and overall I think it is a great advertisement for the Recreational Aviation movement. Congrats team, and t hanks for listening to the feedback. I look forward to the 'perfect' issue!
  11. They're great fun, and can be quite different to flapped approaches. I was told to remember three things when doing flapless landings: With less drag, power changes can have a marked change in airspeed. One has to reduce the revs quite a bit to slow down, yet not much of an increase in engine speed will increase your airspeed quickly. Your approach angle will be slightly shallower. When it comes time to flare the aircraft is already close to the landing attitude, so there is no need for a really pronounced flare. Overdoing it may result in tail strike!
  12. Hear, hear! Sorry to hear about your job news, Ballpoint! I'm working on the GoodLadyWife regarding the aircraft procurement situation. Alas, no dice at the moment. Wow! That's cheap! Bec, you're lucky! Maybe I should go for a drive and visit sunny Horsham?
  13. I'm quite sure that she did enjoy it! I'm also quite sure your son will love it too. How old is he? Hi Linda (and Brian!), I'd love to come for a visit! Thank you for the very kind invitation! Unfortunately I'll have to wait until I start my nav training. I think The 'Marsh is just outside my 25NM world at present... :-( The minute I'm able to, you will certainly have a visitor! Cheers, Evan
  14. Aaah. We just missed each other, then! Next time!
  15. Thanks everyone! Hehe Bec! That would be awesome. I've offered for her to learn, but she's happy with being a passenger for now! Hey Steve, yes - she did love it! She was looking around at the lights from above. I just wish I had enough light left to fly over our house and stuff, too! Oh well, there's always next time! Congrats, Alan. Good stuff!
  16. Was that you in Tweetie late in the day? About 4-ish?
  17. Thanks CFI! Am looking forward to all of them!
  18. Just got back from taking my wife Mel up for her first circuit. I couldn't go further because the already dim overcast light today was going to fade fast and I didn't want to push the envelope. It was more a ceremonial flight, and also to see how she'd like it. All smiles! Yay! I've been waiting for this day for a year! Full story here, if you wanna!
  19. Looks interesting! Not sure about the dodgy midi Land Down Under on their website, though!
