  1. Was a GA-200 Fatman not a pawnee, I thought they had wing mounted tanks and not the forward fuse type? this is from the gipps aero website about there fatmann Crashworthiness Field experience has shown that the crashworthy features built into the GA 200 series aircraft, such as wing mounted fuel tanks, work exceedingly well.
  2. You take your new bird Tomo and I will trail you in the Auster, make a weekend of it
  3. She is avery neat looking aircraft Graham, bet your pleased!
  4. Great job on the face book page, just liked it!
  5. I can probably dig out of the pile of mess it is under, but how do I know where it put it DJ? It's not like it has left a giant hole on the back of the plane!!!! I tell everyone it is hangar rash caused by previous owners! and whats a bit more dihedral between friends!
  6. Why avoid built up areas in a trike? I am sure people would rather a trike coming into their lounge room as opposed to a chieftain!
  7. Are there going to be any navigation exemptions on the RPL?
  8. Agree with above, solid is a great way to go if you don't mind adjusting them every now and then.
  9. Auster are awesome, but a savannah comes in a close second probably. Great to see some pics and hear about your new aircraft when you get it.
  10. Can not go wrong with BAIB, give Geoff a call on 03 5778 7289 or on his mobile 0407 170 789. He will fix you up with a great deal, been in the game a long time and knows his stuff, also takes care of his clients so I would highly recommend him any day.
  11. Lots of people do the shut down check with to high RPM Nev, causes a backfire and so the school or hire outfits don't let you do it
  12. Here is the reason you ALWAYS do you control checks before every T/O Roll SCARY THOUGHT, sitting in that cockpit with you controls locked
  13. I love the design Doug, But have to be honest and say the backwards rudder while flying seems a little too dangerous to me, be interested in others thoughts though. Not sure about detachable wings, sure other builders will have ideas on that
  14. You can still pick an off kilter or rough mag through ANR's if your engine is at the run up revs, as for the other noises, lots of pilots would not know what they sound like even without headsets Tomo!!
  15. Doug, I like the billy cart steering a lot but not sure if ultimately it would work. The end result will be a steering mechanism that functions one way in the air and the opposite on the ground, not really sure how well that will go when you get into strong crosswind situations, your rudder application against the wind will cause a different direction on the nose wheel! Sounds a little cross tangled and might end up tearing a nose wheel out or running into a fence!
  16. Imagine that same footage from the birds gun camera:ah oh: I can just here the little winged creatures last words "TAKA TAKA TAKA TAKA"
  17. They do say panicing is best left till you're on the ground again!
  18. There needs to be some clearance but it sounds as though you might be doing the checks with the lifters filled with oil!
  19. I have been flying for 11 years and am still waiting to pull my first greaser off!!! Well done.
  20. Sounds like a plan NEV, although I have to admit I have always been a bigger fan of the C-123, or the porter!!!
  21. Looks like there the aileron attach points on closer inspection
  22. Glad you were the first one to admit it Tomo I am the same though I do not do mag checks after quick turn arounds, unloading etc... don't really see the point. Full and free, mixture, fuel, trim etc... are all no brainers though!!!! I also nearly always do a shut down mag check, something from my days of doing maintenance!!
