Well I have owned 2 gr 582 think they are great have flown mine from top of qld down south as far as lismore the second plane has auto lube system Witch I swear by ,make flying much easer then worrying about mixing oil mine climbs @ around 1000 ft and cruise @ 70kn with a fuel burn @ 18 lph But I have a friend who has a ga 55 with a 100 hp rotax it flys great cruise @ 85 and burns about the same as my two stroke Enother friend major Millard has a gr 912 he gose everywhere in his so I shore he tell ya about his when he reads this tread But for my point of view I love the little two strokes But I think it come down to what u wish to do with ya craft mine dose a lot of local flights in and out off short strips and then may be once or twice a year I do a long distance trip witch is a little slower then the four bangers but still as much a adventure to do with both ..

  3. Yes I use a small dome tent but have to get myself a mattress of sorts looking at those egg shell foam things ! And a small sleeping bag blow up pillow a head lamp or led light & change of cloths that about it but when with wifey that enother story but we still manage to get it all in under weight limits "just " Just a tip ,with ya tent don't set up ya tent so the dew runs off the wing onto the top of ya tent make shore your not under the drip line .

  6. No mate only flown as far south as lismore / balina area but if I can't fly IFR "I follow roads I plan a safer route was taught in a 2 stroke and still fly one today I don't fly .. My life is valued by the wife so I don't take risk " she kill me if I did anyway .."..

  12. for me I would not fly in that type of area with any single engine , unless u can reach a landing area it no go ... That has kept me out off trouble anyway each to there own !
  13. Make me wonder why he didn't just fly the plane and land ? Expensive exercise using the Shute which too me would only use if a structure failure ? Once the Shute deployed your going down with out control of where u land ! What happen to flying single engine aircraft with an landing area within reach ? Just my thoughts ! Good result though no one hurt ....

  15. My is the 1st production unit for me too lift the mtow I have to strip the wing and put in a brace to bring it up to 450 kg she came out of the factory with a 532 rotax so the tell me Major may be able to help u with an answer too your question ... Copy major Millard can ya help ?

I can only speak for my craft witch was 544 now 400 kg my air craft weigh in at 205 so that leaves me at 195 - fuel that I carry 66lt in the wings and a further 32 in aux for long trip - 71 kg I weigh in at 105 And the miss @ 65 kg so I now have to leave fuel to take the boss all up so I now have eg : me 105 Plane : 205 Full fuel + aux = 71 Wife 65 Total 446 Overweight by 46 kg so wife stay home or no aux fuel Mind you that's a 582 lightwing not 912 ..

  19. I was looking at the terrier 200 before I bought my plane nice aircraft I took one for a test flight and found the one I flew was very heavy on the controls which put me off Other wise I like the planes in general .
