  1. Yep this is the case. I also called RAaus as I have 3axis and weight shift. Told the same thing as above. When I did my sign off in the Jab my BFR was updated for both endorsements.
  2. And make sure your compass was not made in China. Most Compass in LSA aircraft are as reliable as the one I had in my Bata Scout shoe. This IMHO is the weak point in most cases. Not the electronics. Mardy
  3. I post using a free program for iPad called Puffin. It allows you to use flash so you will get your emocons. Sorry a bit off topic Mardy
  4. Hi John. A very helpful guy in the UK. here is the link to his website http://www.leggott.flyer.co.uk/extras.html He also has some really great sun visors that are very well priced. I got them and like them. Hope to catch up over the holidays and have a look in your new hangar. anyway sorry Jeoff. Sorry to get off post on you post... Mardy
  5. I also know that pilots of Morgan Aircraft don't look all that bad either. Nice job Jeff, you must be busting one big smile. Like the wheel covers, I have done the same thing. Mardy
  6. I think you may have missed my point! (not at all surprising a reaction based on the slant of my post). Have you ever been to a party where one or two people just seem to like the sound of their own voice? When a single comment becomes a response like something from the Big Bang Theory's Sheldon? If members of the site are leaving or not posting (like moving into another room at the party), who then is your audience? It seems to me just other party people that also like the sound of their own voice. It seems that often you have lots to say about subjects, operations and actions of other people etc. I think that if you think some of your opinions will help stop people blatantly breaching rules? Well it does not seem to be working, they are all in the other room guys. I guess on this occasion I am just doing the same and stating what I think.
  7. Not sure how? You and some of your mates that have just Hijacked this forum have stopped so many people from reading and posting on this site its not funny. I am not sure what you do with your time other than trying to prove yourself on this site, I question your actions are not more self motivated. People are fearfull of posting in fear of the response from a small group of self ritious people. Just look down the posted in the last 24 hours list and you see that same people over and over again. Good onya Guys! keep up your life saving work.
  8. Good On ya John. Looks good. Hangars are expensive andif you can't afford one renting is cheaper. They are far from a bad investment Mick. My hangar has been fully paid for with the rentals I provide in the last 5 years. Now my flying fees, site fees and ergo etc are now free. The hangar just keeps getting worth more and more as spaces get rare. Woops I posted again.. Look out for the rocks Mardy
  9. I'm pretty sure I would have done that. My comment was based on all the speculation prior to the update message. Thanks for highlighting exactly what I was trying to suggest. Now it seems just a little more fact is now surfacing.
  10. I made a phone call today and got told that RaAus has had a computer problem and are not able to process any reg applications until its sorted out. I think they hope to get it up and running by Monday. Hmmmmm it was another member of this site that I made the phone call to. Chances are it was just speculation. Seems on this forum you can't let a bit of BS get in the way of a good story LOL
  11. Who knows what the reason or result will be. Maybe something simple or something really bad for us all. It could be an example of what happens when fools keep talking bad about our hobby. Some of the comments on this site about plane and engine types has done none of us any good. RaAus has been bagged as well as people in the office. When will some of the idiots start to understand the damage they do with all the negative postings. Do they think staff from CASA or the public don't read the comments? I am sure other factors also dont help, and many out of our control. However as Pilots we should be doing all we can to assist each other for the betterment of our hobby. I started in this game well before we had an RaAus or AUF, and many people pushed hard to get us to this point. We have had it pretty good. Now I see some of the negative posters all whooping on about this new situation. Let's hope that none of this is the case... Or some of those people will need to hide their own heads in shame. That's my say Mardy
  12. I think you you should sign up as their advisor. They could do with a bloke with you knowledge
  13. These threads help with solutions to problems. They also help to identify problems in both planes ane people
  14. Very difficult question to answer. I own a Jabiru and always said I would not buy one as I did not really like them. Don't really love how they look. However I got the chance to buy a new one at a very very low price... Hence I now own one. I would suggest you look at aircraft that are available in you price range tha appeal to you and fit your flying needs. IIE do you need speed for xcountry or do you want a slow forgiving aircraft? Then ask questions based on the ones you like the look of and that fit you needs. People will then be able to comment better on your choices. If you can go and fly in them ans see how they are in the air... Lots of choices at the moment. Money is tight and lots of people are selling... Mary
  15. Not sure if you are aware Boingk but you can't turn off the or turn down the phone option at any time so you can decide when and when not to have the phone option. It really does add additional safty on long trips. Also radio calls are priority in the sound chain so the phone or music is remover when a a radio call is received. I love the feature and do understand your comment. My phone also provides my Internet connection for my weather updates and OzRunways data.
  16. I own a Jabiru and I find the treads usefull. However fly_tornado I find your comments agumentative and un-helpfull. You offer little constructive comment and repeat the same comments over and over again. Not sure if you even own an aircraft, but noticed you fly in a Drifter. I am sure thier was many problems with them also over the years. ( I flew them years ago and fly nice). This is the same with many other aircraft and engines. Comments like yours turn this site into a Ground Hog forum.. I am not supprised that many are not posting helpfull information on this site when met with the same reteric. I am open to hearing about problems that other OWNERS of Jabiru may have had in the hope that we learn and improve from them. Instead we get the problem the friend of my Dads flying instructor that knew this guy that knew a bloke that had this problem with a Jabiru motor.. Was the same problem that all of them had. Enough! Mardy
  17. I suppose it's how you rate a product. For me it's what is on offer as a total package. The fact that the iPad is the most supported by software developers puts it in the lead for me. I agree that better hardware is available, but no standard across them, so for me it's IPad for me. Add jailbreak to the mix and I have a great system for my aviation and astronomy requirements... Guess I'm one of those loyalists that pays more for something that's going to do the job. Unfortunately it seems you have to pay for the good stuff that works.
  18. I have the lightspeed Sierra headsets and am very happy with them. Has blutooth and tha ability to input music via a cable. The phone function works via Bluetooth. Lots cheaper than the Zulu, but the sound quality is much the same. I have used both and the Zulu are a little better but cost more. I found the sierra's were great value for the money and would purchase them again if I needed another pilot headset. Mardy
  19. Hi Laurie. No the fuse was all painted when I purchase it. Just needed to cut and polish it and paint all the trims and covers. The hard part was fitting the decals. I wanted to save money by getting the made and fitting the myself (tricky) it too a whole day.. I get my plane back today as I will get the engine details this weekend. I can tell you that the kit was purchased in 1998 and was kit number 219 Mardy
  20. Not sure of the engine number off the top of my head.. I will have a look when I am at the hangar on the weekend and let you know...
  21. As Mick mentioned this engine was not built by Jabiru directly. In fact the content of my post really has no relevance to this fact. I just wanted to help others that may have or have been chasing this same oil problem. I am sure we have all done or been involved in a project that has had problems due to human error or some very odd fault in a manufacturing process. Near all advancement is derived from failure. I am sure the builder ( who I know well) had no intention of fitting a part that had a fault measurable in the few hundreds of of a mill. I wish I could get the same level of assistance with my car and other problems as I have in relation to this problem. Could not have asked for better assistance and support as I have had with this problem... Just a simple but annoying problem with what turns out to be a very simple fix thanks to a well designed engine that allows easy replacement of a rear plate. Some other engines don't have this well thought out system and would have resulted in a very major problem. Mardy
  22. Welcome to the forum AM395. I am sure you will find yourself a flying machine. You may live over 100 so you are yet to meet your mid life, plenty time. Go get your license and start flying if you can. You will meet lots of new people that will expand your chances of fining a cheap plane or the use of one. Pilots seem to love helping others reach thier dream to fly... Mardy
  23. Yes this is also true. I am aware of an aircraft that this has been done. However this was only due to problems that have occurred as a result of internal error or problems that are a subject of another thread. However relative to this post it is not the case an most likely never be.
  24. You all need to read your current mag ( sports flyer) the information is in there. You are not able to change a 24 aircraft to 19... Period!
  25. Well here is the update on my oil problem... It turns out that the hole for the seal in the rear plate was not concentric. Not only that, but it was not central to the rear shaft. Turns out that I had a defective rear plate. It has now been replaced and I hope the problem is fixed. The rear gear and shaft are brand new and don't even have any seal rub marks as the engine has only done 5 hours.. Happy that they found a problem, as this allows for a rectification.... Now it's time to go flying. I hope this helps anyone else that may have a problem of a rear end leak (on the plane that is) Mardy
