  1. sportstar LSA g'day Ryan you might want to have a look at Anthony Lynch's new Tecnam P2002 for FSX, it is probably the closest thing you could ever get to a top class LSA acft like the Sportstar it's payware but is worth every cent, in fact is is spectacular value for $20 (i just wrote a review on it in the December edition of Aviator magazine) it's available from the FlightSim Store, check it out at the Ant's Airplanes website cheers BP
  2. boonah etc going back through the old posts and saw this thread Anthony has now also developed Roadvale (the airstrip i lease from a farmer who used to fly a Jab from there, 6nm north of Boonah) it is a work of art, as is his recent payware release of the Tecnam P2002 cheers BP
  3. new pooter hey MG new pooter is up and running (boots up FSX in TEN seconds) and is a beast let me know when you want to arrange a demo at the Airsports hangar and i'll be there cheers BP
  4. jumpy jab hey if you think plastic parrots are jumpy, you should try a Drifter on a hot windy day... i know what you mean tho, i did a lot of flying in light GA acft b4 i ever flew a Drifter, but considering when i did my Drifter TIF i was walking away from 100+ flights in paragliders, i didn't find the Drifter experience unsettling honestly, you will always be bounced in an ultralight or LSA on a hot/windy day, even the lovely Tecnams etc can be "quite spirited" in such conditions - BUT.... on a beautiful clear morning/afternoon, when the conditions are just Perfect, you will experience flight like few mortals could even contemplate you will OWN the sky, and the planet, and the stars, and you will go home and try with all your might to explain to your loved one/s what you just experienced, and they will, with grace, probably say something like "that's nice, darling" sorry, gettin a bit silly aint I? but those of us who do this - we know what ima talkin about - don't we, fellas ?? BP
  5. stinson wreck g'day All as an ex mad keen bushwalker in Lamington NP (where the Stinson crashed) and an aviation enthusiast i have had a fair bit of involvement in this saga the book that tells the story of this fascinating event is called Green Mountains by Bernard O'Reilly, who is of course the hero/legend that found the wreck - the book is available in hardcover with two of his other short books, Cullenbenbong and Over the Hills, it is published by Envirobook for those who can get to Beaudesert, two major visits - first is the Historical Museum, they have a Stinson Room with all manner of memorabilia of the crash, including the battered and burnt stainless steel flask that Binstead had used to bring water back to Proud, who had a badly broken leg. By that stage Westray had been long gone to try to get help, but had fallen down a waterfall and perished Westrays Grave is a lot easier to reach than the wreck, which is virtually non-existent these days. you also have to drive past the little graveyard where Bernard O'Reilly is buried, so take two lots of flowers !!! oh yeah, the other visit you gotta do in Beaudesert is the local newspaper, they may still have huge photocopies of the papers articles on the vents from 1937 - it's called the Beaudesert Times, they still had them a few years ago enuff for now, gotta get to work - look forward to your replies BP
  6. LMAO here Farri !!! seems there's cobras running around the commonwealth games vanues too - what fun ! hey just thought, that's gotta give ya added impetus for your chosen sport...look behind - see the cobra - GO !!!! BP
  7. g'day Brian might have a look into the moth balls, if i remember right the main ingredient is something like napthalene flakes ? and hey thanks about the punkinhead info, saw one of their ads recently and was meaning to get in touch for cockpit/engine covers cheers BP
  8. g'day again MG i'm actually waiting on the construction of a flightsim only computer at the moment, the box alone will turn out at $2.3k so it will produce a brilliant result with FSX until i have to integrate it with other duties (until then it will not be set up at home) i am willing to bring it along to any evening flightsim sessions at Boonah let me know how things progress btw, flightsim groups are quite popular in the UK, guys get together all over the country for informative flightsim meetings cheers for now BP
  9. g'day MG, m8 sounds like a gr8 idea and count me in for any support i can give i write the flightsim articles for Aviator and Australian Flying magazines, recently had a couple of articles published in the RAAus mag and Pacific Flyer not sure if you (or other simmers) are aware but Anthony has just released his first payware aircraft, it's the Tecnam Sierra and it is available in Airsport Qld livery it is an absolute bargain at $20, you can get it from the FlightSim Store here in Oz AND he is working on (a) Roadvale, which looks awesome, and (b) a DRIFTER.... i'll keep in touch and watch this thread with interest cheers for now BP
  10. yeah the old lead poisoning is a thought, i know someone who has an air r##le but i reckon it will end up being the strips of sheets rolled up with a piece of 1" dowel at each end cut to the width i need (two sets of wires each side of the top of the wing) and just roll 'em down the wing from the front then a bungee on each under the wing to hold 'em in place and hey i don't need rubber snakes, i got real ones! i've been chased out of that hangar by a huge Eastern Brown - you should see how i do my preflight inspections now... (Drifter is an open aircraft - no doors and lots of places for a big hairy a##ed Joe Blake to hide) imagine wunna those mongrels popping his head out from under the seat at 2,000 feet................. i wonder if there's somewhere for an emergency landing at the Boonah hospital??? nurse 1 to nurse 2 "look at that, not a mark on him - wait a minute, what are those two little red dots on his leg ????" watch this space... bp
  11. Hey guys, the Teccy is now available from the Flightsim Store, $19.95 and at that price it is a real bargain Anthony is also doing some work on my lil strip at Roadvale, that will be something special BP
  12. yeh Owi, wunna the best freebies i have ever seen, it's a class act btw the Tecnam is now on version 3 and is looking gr8 and Anthony is about to start work on - wait for it - a Drifter - Woo Hoo !!! cheers bp
  13. hey Tracktop, just noticed your choice of flying machine i wrote a short article on how a Drifter driver tried to cope with flying a TIF in a trike recently should be in the September issue of Pacific Flyer - might be good for a giggle m8 cheers boleropilot
  14. sounds good m8, looking forward to it cheers bp
  15. yes please hey Timm sounds gr8, count me in know sfa about online simming but willing to learn ! cheers bp
  16. nice foxbat hey guys, i went online and found that foxbat - what a brilliant little ultralight very good for a freeware aircraft, do ya'selves a favour and get it asap it's one of my favourite aircraft so i've been doing laps around Boonah and Roadvale top stuff !!! bp
  17. goodonya Dave, look forward to seeing ya on the day bp
  18. g'day All the date has been set for this year's Drifter Breakfast at Boonah, hosted by the Flying Tigers = Sunday 19th September same details as before = $5 for a Mystery Burger, $1.50 soft drinks, tea/coffee all ya can drink for nowt pilots arriving saturday are welcome to camp overnight, free REAL MEN FLY TAILDRAGGERS sticker for each aircraft (remember, this is a Joke, it's not meant to be insulting to any thin-skinned pilots) numbers for catering to moi pls ALL aircraft welcome, pls pray for good weather (last two blown out) cheers bp
  19. Pacific Flyer hey Owi forgot to mention that the next issue of Pacific Flyer should have an article i wrote on my TIF in a trike recently - interesting for this thread because i got on the sim when i got home and flew in a trike in the same area, and included that in the article along with a couple of screenies here's hoping they print it and it comes out OK cheers bp
  20. OzX/Voz hey Woofer the airports package (freeware) for FS9 is Vista Australia (Voz) and you can get the disc from the Flightsim Store for about $6 (cost of CD and post) - OzX is FSX only and i agree with Spin, FSX + FTX + OzX is mind blowing - what i see onscreen is so close to what i see when i fly me lil Drifter into Boonah is so close it's uncanny i recently spent some time in Victoria and while there i had a TIF in a trike - when i got home i got on the sim and had a fly around the same area, everything was there, the little town we stayed in (Bright), the airfields at Mount Beauty and Porepunkah - i saw the same things onscreen that i saw during the TIF - unreal ! no point in putting in tiny pix here in the forums, pm me and i'll send ya some screenies that will rock ya socks off.... cheers bp
  21. teccy for FSX hey Owi it's a P2002, so far in 3 liveries, one of them the Airsport colours/number of the 196 looks gr8, pm me with your email address and i'll send ya some screenies bp
  22. 'scuse me ? sorry Mazda, ya've lost me... what Airtourer, on where ? cheers bp
  23. g'day Guy g'day to you too Guy, welcome m8 what you gotta do is organise to get yourself and that 230 or 170 up to Boonah and visit the Tigers, friendliest club in all of Oz - we'll be having a Drifter Breakfast in a couple of months time, why not plan for that m8 and to dazza38, ANOTHER Boonah boy, g'day from boleropilot - i fly my li Drifter (455) out of Roadvale (abt 6nm to the north of YBOA) cheers bp ps hey Guy, ima into that RC stuff meself...
  24. hey TurnerJ, i see you're a Boonah boy i'm a Tigers member, i fly my Drifter (455) out of the little field at Roadvale (abt 6nm north of YBOA) and fair dinkum m8, Anthonys Teccy will be one of the best freeware aircraft out there, on a par with the RCS B-25s i reckon...looking forward to writing an article on that one as soon as he's done the final touches and finished the 'polishing' cheers bp
  25. hey Darky, you still there? g'day guys and Darky, haven't seen a post from you for a while i write the flightsim articles for Aviator and Australian Flying, which basically means i'm a good riter an i no a lil bit about those flightsim thingys - i also fly a Drifter (just passed the magic 100 hours mark - woo hoo!!) so i'm able to comment on real vs desktop flying too first thing is that the laptop's major limiting factor for FSX is the lack of ability to install a better graphics card - without that you probably really should stay with FS9. Vista Australis (Voz) is still available for FS9 (about $6 from the flightsim store, freeware, you're just paying for the dvd and post) and that will make a gr8 difference FSX in its current form with Orbx FTX scenery + the freeware OzX airports gives a fantastic onscreen experience as far as surrounding scenery is concerned, no doubt of that - my view coming in to land at Boonah is so close to the real thing it's a bit wierd really... aircraft - well, the only one i've seen that will spin and sideslip properly is the RealAir FS260, but it is a GA aircraft. the bloke (i should say genius) that did the redev of Boonah is currently working on a TOP class Tecnam, when it is ready for release i will let this forum know, i am currently flying the second version and it is already brilliant is it like the real thing? um, doh, no. but the visual impact you will get (particularly if you can find the $$ for the Naturalpoint TrackIR Pro headtracker) WILL help you, particularly with circuits and landings - no doubt of that i'd done a lot of flightsimming b4 i got my RAA licence and i thought it would help, but it didn't really - funny thing, my flightsimming has improved though !!!! anyway, enough, looking forward to your reply and PM me if you want any other info i may be able to help with Boleropilot
