  1. Surely by any measure the nut is feminine because the screw goes into it!!!!
  2. My French is schoolboy stuff but isn’t ecrou a screw rather than a nut?
  3. I didn’t even know there was one in Australia!
  4. When I did my UK PPL around 1978 spin recovery was a requirement of the flight test ( I believe it no longer is?) that was in a C150 aerobat, I have also done spins in a Decathlon (fairly comfortable!) and a Victa Airtourer (fast and unpleasant!) I think spin training is worthwhile but, apart from the fact it is not legal anyway, I have no inclination to find out if or how my Zenith CH701 spins or recovers!
  5. Always remember reading the 3 rules for stalling a DC3…… 1) Don’t stall 2)Don’t stall 3)Don’t stall
  6. No golf course in our council estate, no parks, no playgrounds!
  7. Built a couple of those back in the day. A rubber powered Lysander was one! The other was a free flight model with a Frog (I think?) diesel. Neither of them ever flew because I grew up in a council flat in Edinburgh with absolutely nowhere to fly them!
  8. I can only tell you that it sat untouched for two years because I was so frustrated. I printed out the photo guides which I found helpful. I was a LAME and so shouldn’t have had a problem but right back to the start, reading on the list of tools ‘and an 8ft metric rule’???? I changed a couple of things which Zenith have also now done. I fitted streamlined struts and I also fitted a Savannah style tailplane instead of the inverted airfoil one, which I think they have done with the Cruzer? I also made the mistake of fitting the wing fold kit which was a total waste of effort and I removed it again! Just persevere and if you have any questions I may be able to answer them. It will be worth it, it does the job it is designed to do exceedingly well, even with the 80hp Jabiru which I have.
  9. Would I build again? Possibly, if I was ten years younger! Yes it takes persistence and perseverance and all of those sort of words, but it will be worth it! I love my Zenith CH701.
  10. I built and fly a Zenith CH701, I was a LAME and still found it problematic because of erroneous plans. Took longer than it should because it sat untouched for two years due to utter frustration. However, at the end of the day I am glad I persevered because it does the job it was designed for brilliantly and I really love flying it.
  11. No mate, afraid I didn’t, just looked at incidents and accidents!
  12. Does anyone know yet what mark of 737 was involved in the China East crash yet? For Boeings sake you would have to hope it isn’t a Max!

I think, to my memory, American actor Robert (Bob) Cummings used to have one!
  14. Absolutely horrible, destroyed that wife/mum’s Christmas for ever more!
  15. Never ever good but really terrible as you say, this close to Christmas!
  16. Two absolute tragedies involving children this close to Christmas, absolutely awful. Family Christmases ruined for ever! So very very sad.
  17. I also met him once at Rathmines at the seaplane fly-in although neither of us had seaplanes!
  18. Apart from any other consideration, if I had to put that much effort into starting my engine, I would probably give up flying!
  19. They have mate, they are called gliders and sailplanes!
  20. I should have googled it first! As you said, Napier Deltic!
