  1. I could be wrong too, but wasn’t the Deltic English Electric?
  2. Sorry if this is thread drift, but like the difference between steam locomotives and diesels!
  3. A long time ago, when I was about 16 and an apprentice working at Edinburgh (Turnhouse) airport there was, were??? A C130 and an Argosy of the RAF parked on our apron and I had the opportunity to wander through both. I recall the Argosy flight deck just about having room for the crew whilst the C130 had room for the crew, a bunk and a galley. In the cargo hold the Argosy hydraulics we’re all bonding strips and lockwire whilst the C130 had nary a bonding strip or lockwire to be seen! My very first experience of something with which I became familiar in later years in BOAC. Parker flareless connections!
  4. Oh come on, I love the old Beverly, quite unique really and when you think it is about the same vintage as the C130, how could you not love it too?
  5. There was a French one I just had to look up too Sud-Ouest Djinn with tip jets which I think (didn’t look this bit up!) was powered by a Turbomeca Artouste!
  6. Possibly sound a lot like the Fairey Gyrodyne or Rotodyne? In other words Bloody loud!
  7. Funny how they never succeed. That one, Edgeley Optica and Seabird Seeker all chased the same market and apparently sank without trace.
  8. I have Dynon Skyview with transponder and ADSB out. Zenith CH701 which is VH registered but could be RAA.
  9. In that case mate, I don’t have a clue!!!
  10. Ignoring everything else, in that report this is reported as a Cessna 177RG Amateur built????
  11. Not quite sure what you mean by built in crosswinds but I’ll try again anyway! The Ercoupe?
  12. Well bully for you old chap, you must be a delight to know personally! The question was asked, my answer was given, nowhere did I or anyone else suggest that was the only answer!
  13. Seventy plus years of being an aeroplane nut helps! Memory goes back to seeing the Bristol Brabazon fly over Edinburgh. Add to that a bookshelf full of reference books and you have your answer!
  14. Bit of a cheat really, not so much a guess as an ‘I know I’ve seen it before’ now I need to find it in my 60+ years worth of aircraft reference materials. Sometimes I can find it before anyone else, sometimes I can’t find it at all!
  15. Only telling you what she said!!! Irrelevant because here in Qld we are not currently in lockdown! Who knows for how long though???
  16. When Qld was in lockdown our CHO said, live on television,” A pilot getting into his aeroplane and going for a fly isn’t a threat, of course he isn’t” I was happy to take her at her word!
  17. Possibly the one that now resides in the Queensland Air Museum?
  18. Neither of those, simply saying I am of no help because I have no idea of the efficacy or otherwise of your suggestion and no need to find out because what I have is, for my requirements, perfectly adequate. If I had any idea or suggestions I would tell you!
  19. I am the only one who flies it and I built it so not likely to make that mistake. I also think that if you fit the caps 180° out the tubes wouldn’t be facing rear wards. Not sure how to explain that but the notches in the fuel tank flanges don’t align!
  20. Nothing fancy about my forward facing vents and they work quite satisfactorily!
