Should be more of it over here, 95.10 needs a come back. -
When comparing a Kestrel - 503 + c box and a Bantam with a 582 + c box, both aircraft weigh about the same. The climb is better in the Bantam but at cruise 5500 rpm the 503 has so much less vibration, although the bigger prop on the 582 may contribute to more vibration.

Do you have "Hanger Problems" and how much do you Pay to Rent?
howe replied to SSCBD's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
You could do this http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/trailer-hangar.128084/ -
Well they didn't come out with the rotax 277 , we put the 277 on and took off the Robyn with a belt drive that always slipped when it got wet.
-
Found this the other day. The little Rotax 277 was made for it, especially when we had the floats fitted. (no photos yet discovered)

Have a Kestrel, yes they are (1) affordable, (2)fly great (3)very portable (4) can easily be adapted to a float plane. And if you really want cheap hangarage and no rigging you can do this. http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/trailer-hangar.128084/

The wing covers are separate and bolt on. Can transport plane fuse complete and wings suspended inside easily. The intention was that its a relocatable hangar, and not for a rig/de-rig type of a/c. Its very quick to get out/in and no a/c to move as in some hangars. Needs good storm tie downs, wind loads can be high. Basically started with a old caravan chassis from good old gum tree. The Bantam is a big a/c even though its a u/l so the concept would easily adapt to jab, sonex, and low wings etc. My mate built it, I helped with a bit of labour and 40 years of crane design experience. cheers H

Well the good thing about them is they don't have to be based anywhere i.e. where ever you park the trailer, but most of the time we hang out at YCAB. Yes know Barry, and its not rocket science to do a fuse skin. Catch you on return.
