  1. After a lot of rigging we finally took off today. Thanks guys for the help with the rigging.
  2. Howdy Bob, Got a bit side tracked. Bought a Bantam 22S not long after I showed you the photos, but now back on track and just waiting for a good day and a mate with a tinne is not to0 busy. Had a Bantam about 10 years ago and enjoyed it. Building a mobile hangar to put it in, think some people who hate paying hangarage may find it interesting. cheers...... H
  3. Bit late but you sent a PM
  4. Been debating whether to go to premix or oil injection on a new 582 motor at least with premix the slides and fuel pumps are lubricated, any thoughts?
  5. Spot on HIC. Now I wonder if Jab will be checking the A pillar for tensile loads?
  6. Have just done my Bantam skins, not quite the same, but similar. Used talc powder on the leading and trailing tube which really reduces the friction and makes it very easy.
  7. MAKES AVAILABLE to date (These are believed to be available and legal by the posters, but more research is required) Drifter ($10,000 < $12,000) Thruster (UK version?) Quicksilver (still in production) Chinook Pioneer Flightstar XAir (Cost $28,000, sell $17,000 <20,000) Belites Skycraft Scout Bantam, dual 2 seat 582 also a great contender. When ever we fly into Caloundra with our group of Kestrels… 95.10 single place ,we always get lots of questions form young and old flyers. It all boils down to the individuals motivation to do it, there's heaps of info out there.
  8. Thanks Guys, I actually ordered them through Croydon some time back, but it seems that BARSAL are the O.E.M. oh well, it will still be a good future contact.
  9. Contact some one like Bullivants etc They do all the swaging for the crane lifting industry and can make up and test it to destruction. Usually the cable fails before the swage. Most wire rope slings have a safety factor of about 5 x WLL
  10. Another rag and tube worth considering is a Bantam, great to fly and neat design, Google search will reveal all.
  11. Could anyone recommend a place to purchase new skins. thanks .... howe
  12. Thanks for that Maj, there is nothing like an exploded view.
  13. Thanks Guys, they always seem to get you no matter what. I nearly fell asleep reading the link, Alan.
  14. Think I could fly over and back and still be ahead.
  15. Thanks Nev & Ignition, Iam looking at a new set of skins ex NZ. So if were to spilt them up over a period of time it should not be a problem?
  16. Does anyone know what the maximum value in AUD before duty any GST are applicable?
  17. Probably not. Easy check, weigh the old and then the new. The difference could represent the difference between a heavy pilot and a light pilot. You may have to recheck the cog though.
  18. Had a skydart 3,flew really great, sorry I sold it. But are the metal wings still wire braced or strut braced?
  19. Does any one know whether you can still access it via the gate and who to contact for same?
  20. Not a video, but a rare shot taken from a Scout in the 80s. Think it was Peel island, 7x Scouts and Dick Sweetapples' tinne.
  21. If you have super you most possibly will be covered.
  22. Have a sweetapple, wood, tractor,60 dia x 42 inch pitch, suit 503,B or C box, nil damage, (see my ad.) Took it off my Kestral and replaced with 3 blade Brolga, so was airworthy. Give it away for $100 ... Brisbane 0466 983 105
  23. Thanks for the feedback Guys. I was mainly concerned with, tensile, tearing and bearing failure of the connection . see attached photo. As far as the strut overall goes AS/NZS 1664 seems to cover allowable stress for compression members with given S/L.
