  1. So how would all that fit in with the flap control mechanism mount on the left floor and the connecting rod coming though where the left side stick mounts. May need to change to electric motor actuator or a lever mounted to the cabin roof in the middle. Just a thought. JimG
  2. Mark, I have found the center stick is much more user friendly when it comes to writing entries and notes to a flight plan and also map reading as you can have either in your lap without bumping or interfering with the control stick. Jim G
  3. So without reading though the whole 9 pages, has the actual cause of this engine failure been discovered..? cheers JimG
  4. People have been talking it up about these being a viable replacement for the rotax 2 stroke, might sound better, maybe..? http://www.culverprops.com/big-twin.php JimG
  5. Most are genuine, it takes a bit of digging. I found the model of snow mobile and/or jet ski that has the exact same motor. Then start hunting down the different parts places that stock them. Mostly Canada, i once found a shop that did exchange cranks. I believe it is still out there , you just have to be tenacious in the search. Cheers JimG
  6. I was able to find all the parts I needed on ebay , con rod kit as well. JimG
  7. From the Jabiru 2200 Engine Manual, note then use of the word 'recommend'. Jabiru recommend a TBO of 1000 hours of engines to s/n 709. From s/n 710 TBO has been extended to 2000 hours with a top end overhaul done at 1000 hours, certain conditions do apply for this situation. A Guaranteed Fixed Price Overhaul Plan* is offered with both engines. Contact your regional distributor or Jabiru Aircraft for details. Top End overhauls are also available on later model engines. Given there price, I believe 1000 hrs is fair enough. Especially when you consider schools operating 582's have to replace them every 300 hrs. JimG
  8. Hi Flyerme, have you changed the seat height or do you have a thick cushion under you.? Cheers JimG
  9. So where did you see that , Nick . Just interested in background of the thread. Can anyone confirm the claim of having to return Lycomming data plates from experimental use. Cheers JimG
  10. Welcome Geoff, and I hope you really enjoy your training . Maybe we have met........ cheers JimG
  11. Hi Scott, I don't want to breech the site rules here as it would be seen as a commercial interest so I'll email you. cheers JimG

  16. Welcome David, tell us your thoughts on the Rotax powered Jabiru J160C , sounds like a good combo. cheers JimG
  17. I reckon if i were a pom I'd still lay claim to 90% of the Mustang success. After all the original XP 51 was designed by north american aviation for the British . The British accepted the contract to build the first batch , they assigned it the name 'Mustang' and the airframe didn't really reach legend status until it was retro fitted with the British Rolls Royce Merlin (P51D) and the rest is well known history. I just love the Mustang, where i work on saturdays there is a real one and when it is taking off everyone just watches in awe and soaks up the roar of of that Merlin. Not taking anything away from the magnificent achievements of Reginald Michell and his Spitfire as it is also is an icon and Legendary machine, its just a shame that Michell didn't live long enough to see it perform in its finest hour love em both JimG
  18. Thanks Rotor, i have checked them all out and this last one looks the goods. Thanks for the replies. Cheers JimG
  19. Hi Bob, sorry if I've missed this in previous post , so how far below the wing and what longitudinal position is the best for the pitot tube and is the static port best located with it. I know the RV's have them half way in the aft fuselage on both sides interconnected but I'm told even that system has to be 'tuned' . I hope know one minds the thread drift.....? cheers JimG
  20. Hi Rotor, would you mind sharing with us where you ordered the adapter from. Cheers JimG
  21. Hi Tom, a while ago Roger gave me the circuit layout for a led light indicator for the ford air con mixer motor that you put me on to,to use for elevator trim. I looked at it for a day or two then figured it was way above me, so Roger has kindly made one for me and he fitted it in a cute little plastic box with the led display bar protruding far enough so I only need to do the panel cutout for the led bar only.........very cool. cheers JimG
