  1. This was posted on BFDU Facebook page 3 hrs ago by pilot Ray Le Carr, Help needed, Bourke council want to decommision Byrock, engonia and fords bridge airfields. I believe council met on Monday. We flew in on Friday and heard the plea for help from Gail and Paul Kelly who own the awesome mulga creek hotel. This is the first time I have had wifi to post. If anyone can help persuade the council otherwise the bush aviation world thanks you. Gail and Paul will have all the deta, I don' have anymore details and will be out of signaL. Here's hoping!
  2. Th This doesn't seem to be supported by technical articles from the oil companies. In fact in an article I read there are instances where 98RON actually went up in octain over a given time period although by a minute amount. However overall all fuels deteriorate or change composition over time
  3. I can tell you now that if a non essential services bystander intervenes in any accident and is deemed to have contributed to the victims injuries he or she better have a bloody good lawyer. Doesn't matter if it's aviation, automotive or bushwalking
  4. Time to step up Fred and make a difference, board nominations are now open.
  5. Found it in the opps manual - plus 5 / minus 3
  6. According to the Shell data sheet they vary the aromatics in their 95 according to the season. Didn't know that
  7. From my limited experience of flying outback NSW we struggled to get any 95 as 98 is stocked at most outlets and from what I was told 95 will soon cease to exist. Got caught out by a supplier at Wilcannia and had to refuel with 91 but because I had around 20 litres in tank it became a cocktail and didn't make much difference. Running AV gas long term in a 912 certainly does when it comes to lead contamination
  8. From my experience that could apply to many LAME out there, except the writing may not be as neat
  9. Thanks everyone for your input, however my question was what MAKE not how to use or which fasteners. Although you can always learn more. Reggie recommends Snap On any other preferred makes ?
  10. It does, so brother I will pm you my details so with 2 great minds we can get these aircraft flying
  11. Well done Danny, I've also ordered a kit last month from Errol.
  12. I normally don't shop for my precision tools at Aldi, however being a German company maybe they are quality. Just so long as those chaps at Narromine don't buy their AN bolts from Bunnings
  13. Hi, what brand of torque wrench(s) is preferred by aircraft builders and maintainers ? I'm going to need to purchase one in order to build my BushCat kit when it arrives.
  14. This trike was built by Air Creation France as a static display for the German airshow back in 2013 and arrived in Australia with 88 hours on aircraft and a brand new wing. Currently engine time is 319hr and the Bionix13 wing has 231hrs. They painted it in a custom colour for the show which is BMW Grey. Fitted with Stratomaster Enigma EFIS, Microair 760 radio. Has all documentation incl. journey log, flight manual and maintenance reports and releases. The trike has never been road transported and the wing has never been folded since the day it arrived in Aus. No incidents, no accidents or marks. Always hangared at YMFD RAA reg 32-8381 $50,000.00
  15. Ch7 News just reported it as an emergency landing when the nose wheel failed to lock ! They never disappoint !
  16. I may have sold you that camera, BTV was a customer of mine
  17. From a commercial broadcasters view it's not exactly "edge of your seat viewing"
  18. Starch, I have no motive other than to gently point out that the poster was bordering on ignorant when it comes to knowledge of weight shift aircraft in the same way i have limited knowledge on the flight characteristics of aircraft such as you fly. FYI I own and fly an Aircreation Tanarg which was purchased from Chris.
  19. Dan311 it may help with your understanding if you were to take a flight with an experienced trike CFI who could demonstrate the capabilities of a modern trike. Some of you're assumptions maybe missing the mark.
  20. 100 feet, good luck with that. Im picturing a While E Coyote cartoon with canopy floating down over him as lies burried in the canyon floor
  21. Quote "you realise that our mistrust of the future makes it hard to give up the past" Seems to apply to many of the posts I have read lately
  22. A bit far, unless you make a holiday of it.
  23. Not sure where you live, but I would be getting in touch with Peter at Yarrawonga Flight Training as he currently has Airborne, P&M Aviation and Air Creation trikes in his hangar. 2 stroke, 4 stroke and many different wings. I'm sure he would arrange a TIF and provide sound advice
