1. Slightly disconcerting...
2. Regret we won't be near Temora: next trip-Ipswich end of September-car rally. Will be spending couple of weeks in Brisb area after.

3. Ahhhh, the power of caffeine and sugar syrup! Adrenalin pumping stuff, nonetheless.
4. Den - email me at onelung@chariot.net.au Can't get this bloody profile post to let me send.

5. Jeez: how did I miss this post? Now that sounds really environmentally "green" if ever I saw such! And it's 30% cheaper, too! A bargain! Well spotted, Willie...:)
6. Yep - thought that'd be the case ... we caught up with Alan & Helen, plus a bunch of other SA av folk at Cowra for the Antique Aeroplane Association's annual fly-in. A great group of friendly people, and very nice aircraft, too! Some shots here... http://www.theaussieaviator.net/threads/cowra-aaaa-fly-in-et-al.34250/ And here are the local mob just prior to departing Cowra for the flight home.
7. Leonie - you definitely have the knack, as the saying goes. Excellent! Thanks so much for posting them.:)
8. Aha! This is where I can post the following link - I want to put it up before it disappears (hopefully never...). http://rnzaf.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Airshows&action=print&thread=6514 Enjoy!
9. Hi Leonie, and a very very big welcome!:) Ummm... any chance of that avatar image being posted just a little bigger? It looks absolutely fantastic! Oil paint? It has a beautiful warmth to it: lovely framing and composition. Just go to "upload a file" down the bottom of the screen. Looking forward to seeing you here lots more... Cheers, Geoff - AKA "Siz" (after our 1909 Sizaire Naudin car, y'know!) BTW, might your dad know Alan Hicks at Parafield?
10. God almighty: isn't Australia - or even just the Northern territory bit of it - a big place... especially when you're lost.:(
11. So with the "now little prospect..." para, are they going to continue/scale down the search (such as it is)? This is an unbelievable saga: god only knows how it's going to end.
12. I thought this bit was, er - interesting! Asked what it was like trying to fly a large transport aircraft close to the ground while under fire, he replied: "It gets your attention and certainly focuses the mind."
13. The Big Brother spirit of George Orwell's 1984 is well and truly with us - I think the cyber-term is "bot", but some of the younger, more IT savvy TAA members might be able to correct me on that.
14. That is a beautiful, beautiful shot. Classic, even...
15. VH-EVY (now on a Cessna) ... the ex Wangaratta Airtruk current location - ??? http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/701673.html
16. Pulled it as is off the web some years ago. "My" Islander smell I recall as being like really rancid fat - which it quite possibly was - maybe Goanna(?). B****y rank, anyway!
17. After the experience cited above I'd take the material smell any day ...
18. I recall a flight, Darwin to Goulburn Island in an Islander on the way to a jack up oil rig job in the Arafura sea. The Islander was used all around the small strips in the Gulf area, and the polite - and politically correct - expression for its interior ambience would be "less than fragrant"
19. Thanks, Coop ... interesting indeed, and while I take on board that last qualifier, I'm wondering now if I should be (retrospectively) putting in for danger money from my time in the choppers up there!;)
20. More than once while being choppered around the Cooper Basin, I was informed by the person on the rhs that "fling wings" had the safest record for single engine a/c. I am yet to be convinced...
21. Or else the Nips could have used their Dakota lookalike, 'though that would've been somewhat slower.... jeez, 16 days!:(
