  1. Bill, what are you referring to.I can't make out your connection to earlier posts. Please clarify.
  2. Well I'll be. What a turn up. I thought this subject was long dead and buried but I'm sure happy to see it resurrected. Greeting Bill, new members always welcome, as is your input. Might I suggest you do read all the thread and don't go off at tangents as I originally asked.(not that you have.....so far)
  3. Ah, a beautiful video with, for a change, really nice music accompany. As an ex bass player myself, I appreciated the simplicity of the engine and the music.
  4. Thanks for that bit of advice AB. Hadn't thought if it myself. Hadn't noticed the one wheel stance. Well spotted.
  5. Ah, now it's looking more like a hairy plane Only problem is, that muffler never came off the plane. The rear location bracket is way out of position. To make it fit I'll have to drill out the rivet on the boom and move the mounting bracket to fit the muffler. Still trying to source a 1 mtr square piece of poly-carbonate sheet at 1.5 mm thick. Local price has been quoted at $130. Bex tells me it's $13 in china, but how to transport it. I think I'll be going with the 1 mm stuff at about $40.
  6. Not sure which country or what the end result is but it sure is intriguing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKQzKlliFJI
  7. HaHa, HinC, no, you'd be perfectly wrong. If one did try that. the tail wheel would have to be soo close to the mains it would be impossible to steer at high speed. Whilst on that subject, why is the Thruster inclined to "go anywhere but straight ahead" For what it's worth, at this stage, I'm toying with a new design.
  8. If a Mustang tail wheel was a few feet further forward, would it still be considered a tail dragger?
  9. Latest update and a question. Yesterday I put my plane into flying configuration (level) and roughly calibrated my fuel sight tube. Decanting the fuel (petrol only) turned out harder than I thought and I lost a few liters to the pergola floor. I won't be lighting a candle out there for a few days. My next job is to refit a control stick/column. Due to changes to the seat, I need to put in about a 2-2.5 inch offset to allow me to pull it fully rearwards without impinging on my stomach. The material to be bent is 22.5 diam x 1.5 wall thickness. Can anyone tell me how to bend it without splits? A local plumber says it can't be done without heat. FWIW, I'm redesigning my throttle control which will sit atop the control stick. My first effort had a weak spot and cracked when I tightened the mounting clamp. Also, I want to incorporate a PTT button. Later this week I will be fitting the engine to the air-frame and perhaps testing it with a prop fitted.
  10. Just a question out of the blue. Does a reverse tricycle under carriage require the pilot to have a tail dragger certificate/license? Not saying why the question is relevant
  11. $1000 doesn't buy you the ipad display so add another $600 at least.
  12. I'll refer you back to a video I posted some time ago.
  13. Kasper (and others) see my posts "A short story, then a long journey" An addition will be a foam infill so that I have something to press on and force the resin through the material. The resin is the actual skin, the material only an anchor.
  14. I haven't used it but it might be right for my revised wing covering as well. It's hell of a lot cheaper than Lycra.
  15. D'you park on a hill? If so, I'd assume he has no efficient park brake and is using you a chock. Try driving away and see if his car rolls down hill.
  16. Thanks Howe. Found them north of the city so will be taking a long drive some-day soon.
  17. Older Jabiru LSA's are within your price range.Hundreds of us learned to fly in one and there are plenty up for sale. You'd need a lesson or two as they're a bit different to fly from other type. Lead with the rudder for instance. You might also get an earlier engine that didn't have the problems of the later ones. Find one, go for a TIF and be prepared to open your wallet.
  18. IMO, for a low and slow design like he's making, even Bunnings materials are OK PROVIDED the engineering is right.
  19. Yes Ken, all is as it should be except perhaps, the tuning. I'm not sure that that the tube is used to get air into the car though. I thought it was a balancing device of sorts.

  21. OK, another day to try and start my recalcitrant 503 and video it. At the present time, I don't have a throttle cable so a piece of string suffices to lift the throttle slide assembly. Here goes. Sorry, video won't load but just to let you know, it ran after I enriched the mixture.

  23. Thanks JG, very interesting trip, and a very interesting little plane.
