  1. I thought the necessity for rego numbers on wings had been abandoned!!! Now where did I hear/see that?
  2. I don't know but they're in the same plane!
  3. Have always preferred the Indian to the Harley but am now too old to ride either. The SportsCub however is another thing altogether. I started my tail wheel conversion in one and found it so easy to fly and land, especially when balloon tyres were fitted. Unfortunately, lack of the readies prevented me from completing my conversion but I will go back to the Cub if I win the lotto or have some other wind-fall.
  4. Me thinks some people don't get the joke.
  5. My wife has had 2 books published and the biggest problem turned out to be finding a proof reader that could actually proof read. Mistakes still got through after 3 readings. No it was not me, in case you're thinking.
  6. Wrong Maj, I have Rum and Raisin ice cream almost every day. LOVE IT. I'm also a dog lover but that video was so boring. Didn't even see the actual landing.
  7. Gee I seem to have got the pot boiling. Bowing out now
  8. Nice one Dave, but didn't hear a "clear of runways" call.
  9. Perhaps we should be pushing for a graduated scale dependent on the aircraft type/category. Say, 95-10...$125, less than 90knots...$150, up to 110knots...$175, above and beyond, $200. Deciding on the different classes would be difficult but not impossible.
  10. The problem here in Oz is getting permission to fly on sheltered waters. I'd love to have one down on the lower reaches of the Murray but............. You can't just dump one into the local river. Not here at least. Also, what license would you operate under and who's going to insure you? There used to be a float plane operation out of Goolwa but haven't seen it for years. Finding a suitable dock would also be difficult and expensive due to the width. Be like paying for a very short trimaran where you pay for it's width. Not likely that the 'wings' can be removed and stored separately. Sure, on real calm days you could take to the ocean but generally speaking, a small WIG could only be safe over 1ft waves and not a 3ft swell.
  11. Of course there is, another 'single seater pilot' who's also tuned into 123.45. The problem, is getting the 2 planes/pilots together.
  12. As much as I'd like to see more 95-10 craft around, I'm beginning to think that it's going to impossible to encourage any new folk into the family due to the increase in membership fees (discussed elsewhere in today's forum) My funds are stretched to the limit (pensioner) and I doubt I'll be renewing my certificate anytime soon. If I ever manage to build one of my creations, I probably be flying it illegally, no higher than 300ft, not across highways or over built up areas. What goes around, comes around me thinks.
  13. Only just caught up with this thread and am disgusted with this comment. So bloody snobbish and a total put down to members who struggle to pay their electricity and gas bills but still want to fly. Think yourself lucky to be in a position to own an up-market plane and be able to pay for the pleasure of flying it. Perhaps you should reconsider what you say about your fellow recreational aviators or piss off and join the G.A. elite.
  14. Yep, that's my second thought as well.
  15. Geez, thought the Jabbie was noisy enough with one engine. No reg number so I'm guessing experimental and not yet flown.
  16. Nice one Timbo, 'specially seeing the curvature of the earth. The highest Drifter ever
  17. At $15k less engine and instruments.....no way. Far too expensive. Get it down to around 8k and it might stand a chance. I personally can't see where that sort of cost would go for a rag and tube kite.
  18. G'day and welcome Tony. Where do you do your 'shark patrols'? I used to cover the Adelaide coast from Outer Harbour down as far as Sellicks Beach.
  19. Add another alternative to your list. Buy a shipping container (about $2000) and pay a nominal ground rent.
  20. Sorry I can't help you Scott but I'm intrigued. You call it a 'turn and slip' indicator. I've always known it as a 'slip and turn' indicator. What should it be..........anyone?
  21. Bloody poor teacher. Not one of them answered her question and got it right. Just saying.
  22. Did I, or did I not, see another aircraft lower down and leading him at times? I considered a lens glare, even a bird, but it seemed to appear in different relative positions each time.
