  1. What about a drop down list One of the headers, say forums, then select the country on the drop down Works well with my banking site Cheers
  2. If it looks simple it probably isn't How would you go if you had sub-categories I.e EVENTS then Aust, NZ, UK etc Likewise with Rec, GA, roto etc Just thought Phil
  3. Great to finally catch up Tim Sorry about the prop. Hope insurance will defray some costs for you. We enjoyed your enthusiastic comments during your stay and NO your mate was well behaved Give me a buzz when and if you decide to have a BBQ at Sherlock. I reckon to 230 can handle your strip if you remove the stones:roflmao: Cheers
  4. Took plenty but still trying to figure out how to do The video Ian supplied was too fast to follow for this aged brain. I need something explained in schoolboy language or better still if someone this way could do a demo would be better. I will have another try tonight but do not hold out much hope.
  5. More than 50 aircraft flew in to our biennial fly in and hanger dinner last Friday and Saturday. A great crowd of spectators inspected the vast array of machines on display. The weather was perfect too. Full marks to the club members who put a lot of effort into making this event one to remember. I only managed to catch up with one rec flying member which was not what I expected, perhaps we should wear a rec flying cap to identify ourselves. I had a look at Ian's store but nothing there??? A great thanks to all who participated Phil.
  6. Hi Crashley Wouldn't mind a report from the rock fly experience when you get time. It looked a bit daunting first look but others say no worries due to land marks. Cheers and hope you have a great trip Phil
  7. Hi Matt, I do not intend to get to Perth area. My aim is Karratha. Some of the return trip may be of interest to you though. Kalgoolie and pretty much follow the rail line to Forrest as I have been told there are heaps of run ways for access to locomotive breakdowns on the section. Then Euchla ceduna, Port Lincoln, following the coast for most of the way. You may want to miss Lincoln and aim for Whyalla and cross to Port Pirie rather than island hop via Kargaroo island, Goolwa etc. Give me prod at the end of May and I will be able to fill you in more accurately Phil:plane:
  8. Thanks Scott I will keep fiddling Phil
  9. Just to confirm the difference between air shows and fly-ins again The organisers planned to have a fly past of aircraft at the fly in. This was cancelled due to insurance costs. (air show) This decision should not deter pilots from flying circuits or doing local tours of the area, which is a great picturesque opportunity during the fly in The more activity the better in my view Phil
  10. Flyme As I understand it, air shows are very different to flyins, where the later is just as described and the former is an organised flying display. That's where the insurance costs apply and is very expensive Yes, no restriction of flying on the day and I assume it would be encouraged for the spectators enjoyment also. Phil
  11. Right, thanks Interesting to fiddle with these gadgets, they are even better than the Dick Tracy gadgets i used to read in the comics as a kid. I have previously had a plan shown on Google earth but not an historical track. I will do some fiddling as usual and should get it up Thanks again Phil
  12. Enjoyed watching. The background music was nice too Couple of questions if I may. The track line at the end, was that via google maps? How do you activate? Oz runnway looks great. Phil
  13. Today, unusual as I am usually last
  14. Transport will be provided as required. Organise at the registration point Have a good trip Phil
  15. Patrick There is no cost for camping. Hanger dinner cost is $60 which includes entertainment and some freebies. Breakfast is $10. Sat and Sunday. Showers in clubhouse. Looking forward to catching up Regards Philip
  16. Hi JPC Look out for the oldest guy there, probably me. If using north south strip, keep to the eastern side of centre (just rolled and smoothed out the bumps) See you there Phil.
  17. Landed at Penfield, caught the train to Southern Cross for a football match last year. Need to phone the CFI for permission and fuel Phil
  18. Sorry to say but it's as clear as mud! Too fast for my aged brain, Phil
  19. Alf I do the 100 hourly or 12 months inspection whichever comes first. If all were to do this I believe that there would not be sufficient lame's available. I have to book up well in advance or ground myself, even then it's usually touch and go. Another point. How does anyone know that I have complied to the rules? An entry in the maintenance manual, ok but I have never been asked to produce it. Sorry for straying off thread, this may fix. Moree last month, I taxied to a partly X run way as the rpt was loading. Got to the keys and gave calls. Rpt asked my intentions, my radio was not transmitting, all he could hear was a carrier wave. So there I was a K and a half away with him holding, using heaps of fuel. I pulled out the hand held to tell him I had some problem but he couldn't get a clear signal. I have Zulu headsets with Wifi and gave the connections near the battery cage a wiggle and all fired up. I oppologised for the glitch and he was very gracious saying have a good trip. I will buy him a beer if I run into him.
  20. Thanks HH. I had another look today on a different map and the landmarks look more defined Thanks for the reply Phil
  21. Doing some planning for my upcoming trip to the west coast next month, stopping briefly at Uluru for fuel. I viewed the scenic route from the strip and seems through the lack of identifiable landmarks I would soon get off course easily. Tear drop turns, ongoing and outgoing track is very close to one another in places, although choppers fly at 500' lower. Guess I will have to follow someone with the same IAS if possible Would it be possible to set up the gps to do the route? I did an air tour of the Bungle Bungles about 4 years ago and lost the track, pretty hairy really, and this seems worse. Any help would be appreciated. Phil.
  22. Take plenty of towels and band aids I cut myself in a couple of places, very slippery job I noticed a cutting tool on the Internet that works like a modern tin opener, about $80 from memory. They gave video instruction of the various openers. I was interested but not sure if it works on my Ryco filter so lost interest. For sure dont use a hacksaw as all the filings freak you out. Phil
  23. Looking forward to meeting you both in the "flesh" Plenty of interest so far. We had around 50 various craft last time at the opening of our club rooms Lets hope the weather is kind for the long travellers I know you will not be disappointed Phil.
  24. A reminder that Loxton is again having their biannual flyin and hanger dinner. We are expecting some pilots on the friday with space booked at the hotel for dinner that night. Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday at the airfield. Great hanger dinner with entertainment for saturday night. Transport to and from the airfield available. Pilots travelling to the Barossa air show on the Sunday are also invited. We now have a coded access to the new clubrooms for refreshments and shower available, use the CTAF code on the rear door to enter if deserted during the week. For enquiries re bookings and accommodation if required. Contact Kerrie on 0885847790 or email her [email protected] Hope to see you there for a great time. Phil.
