  1. Congratulations John, 7314 is a good aircraft and my preference also, had her out on sunday and looks like it was my last fly in her. Jabiru's are very good airplanes. so I'm sure your list will be valid in six months,
  2. hi ryanb, could you elaborate a little more
  3. hope you dont put me in that category Kev ponytail and all haha!! I'm a nice guy its me bruvvas ya gotta look out for (only joking). I too am a ASC member. John did you find out the bar times? shame I probably cant make it Sunday and have to take a rain check for the beer. Drop in when you see my hangar open. I doubt you will be a nuisance. Steve
  4. Congratulations it will only get better from now, did you notice how quick they take to the sky when your solo, or were you like me too busy thinking ... wheres the instructor if you need him or her. haha! anyway what day are you putting the beers on Steve
  5. I believe the RPL has been approved or near approval, and one only needs a medical from your family doctor. If your fit enough to drive a motor vehicle then you can fly. Two of the restrictions that I know of are 1500kg MTOW and only one passenger, theres probably others but I haven't looked into it.. Hopefully this covers your medical problems .... Steve
  6. djp. I thought after I posted it should have gone in a new thread
  7. The Zlin is a very nice aircraft indeed, I'm already in contact with dhsupport because they have, and still will, continue to calculate the fatigue meter readings, among other things. Was hoping to find an instructor here who knows the Bulldog. Alternately U.K. have flight schools who specialize in Bulldog aeros. That maybe my only avenue but the travel expense and time may make it too costly. hopefully someone here might pick up on it or know someone who is familiar with the Bulldog. Steve
  8. Hi DJP excellent info on aeros as usual, you mentioned the Beagle Pup with only a 4.5 G limit, is that manufactures limit or CASA's category limit. The reason I ask is I have just imported a Bulldog from the UK which I wish to do aerobatics in. The Bulldog is 6 Gs I believe and wish I to place it in a category to cover this. This will be the responsibility of engineer who's assembling and certifying it I guess. Have you had any time in a Bulldog, most here in Australia havent heard of one let alone flown one, so I guess finding an instructor would be near impossible. Any books or dvd's that I could obtain regarding this type or similar low wing aerobatic aircraft would be much appreciated. kind regards Steve
  9. thats a very nice aircraft Kyle, I reckon you will be seen
  10. Best=Orange(who would use that colour I don't know:laugh:) RAF use that colour BLA in case you didnt know haha ! thats probably why they use orange
  11. My father is one of these people OME , he wasnt in the airforce but a gunner on Mountbattens destroyer in the navy. Of which the Japs signed the peace treaty on. He was also in the landing party who released the prisoners from one well known jail. Hes well in his eightys now with declining health, only now is he opening up Steve
  12. dodo I didnt think they had airguns way back then but I'll check the underside in the morning haha!!. Swedish, Jordanian and Malta air forces had Bulldogs, some still have them in service. Besides the 4 missiles some carried 260kgs of bombs also, so I guess they are a tough little airplane. It has the hardpoints to mount the guns so a couple of machine guns with blanks in them wont go astray:roflmao: . RAF used them primarily for training, mine is one of the last built in 1975. I have the full service history from the day it was built plus the F700 from the RAF including the squadron leaders notes with his name on the side of the cockpit. So it comes with its own history. The only pics I have at the moment Planey are with the wings off and it looks pretty sad. for pictures google S A Bulldog XX699 .... I'll keep you posted Kind regards Steve
  13. Allan was the movie also called 'Reach For The Sky' I'm not big on reading so I'll try to locate the movie. Steve
  14. Excellent PD and dodo, I have been looking for literature on the Scottish Aviation Bulldog for quite a while now. Flightglobal has exactly what I have been chasing. Any other sites that may contain some history will be much appreciated, especially newspaper articles. I have just imported a RAF Bulldog from the UK. should be flying again in a few weeks, hence the interest. . Steve
  15. Interesting line up Sally, bet you haven't thought of putting a Scottish Aviation Bulldog on your list. Steve
  16. we use Contour HD's on our race cars with outstanding results, no vibration or distorted video. Sporty's in the US sell a Contour cam called NFlightcam Plus and claim it cancels out prop distortion. Most probably available here if you look around. Steve
  17. Hi guys, well after a couple of years studying the route from here to America Via Indonesia, Japan, Russia I now believe it possible. Some of you may remember my previous posts where I received valuable info. on this. It has been a personal achievement of mine for a while now and I wish to do it before I get too old haha!. Being a fairly large sponsor of Camp Quality in the past I see fit to support them again in this venture, negotiations are well under way. Some of you are going to say " oh no not in a Jab" but I really cant see a problem with them. Icing is my only concern mainly through the Russian region but any plane could suffer that. Already I am negotiating with people in the Phillipines then Japan where I can presend oil, filters and any other service gear that would be too heavy to carry. Also I'm thinking of documenting and filming the flight so maybe a film can be made, hopefully Ben L. can shed some light on that. Once again I appreciate any help and advice on making this possible especially for C Q. After this I wish to registrar myself and an aircraft with Angelflight. regards Steve L
  18. check this site out Baph ... OurAirports then cross reference it with google earth Steve
  19. the 3300 engine draws a lot more air throught the carby than the 2200, its like turning a compressed air valve on the more air you let throught it the more it ices up
  20. Look up Hog Air in you tube. I still think the harley engine would suit a light aircraft, 2 cly v twin, 80 - 100 hp low revs and high torque. If I had the time would like to try one in a Jabiru. Steve
  21. thanks Dazza that would be good if you can dig it up Steve
  22. thats good Bass, im not too good at those things. I have enought trouble just turning on my gps lol
  23. well there you go I thought most of you knew this one or even used it ---www.ourairports.com its a Google Earth type search engine. I have been using this for a while now to see if its feasible to fly from here to USA in a Jab --- and it is!!! ( check out the deserted island of Urap Russia, with its dissused military airstrip. You will be amazed at how many useable remote airstrips there are here in Aust. and you can even bring them in for a closer look, some have a pilots report. Steve
  24. thats the route I have been looking at Bass, then down through Japan, Taiwan, Philippines on to New Guinea then Australia, although I would do it the other way round (depart oz) its less that 7000 nm OZ to Alaska with the longest stretch over water being only 283ks or 153nm, far less than the OZ to NZ trip. maybe I'll start a new thread as were going a tad off topic steve
  25. I would jump at it Tomo thats a trip I have thought about doing in a J430. do you know what route he takes?
