  1. Don't build one for cost savings unless you are prepared to wait a few years before flying. If you are building just to go flying I suggest that you buy someone else's finished project. Build when you want the thrill of seeing the finished project.
  2. I didn't see the bits about the luggage filled with helium. I think that you could achieve some of the performance specs but not that landing speed with that top speed. I think a laminar flow canard made using carbon fiber and nylon printed items could be possible. 200kts with 50mph landing I believe is possible. A design I may look at someday when I finish my current project.
  3. To get high speed with low landing velocity I have many times played with the idea of extending wings. A smaller wing that fits inside the cruising wing. Using honey comb wing section on the cruise wing and the wing extension running on rollers with cable controlling it's location. But I have never gotten past the design of a sparless wing. It all seems a little too heavy. If anyone has any great ideas for such a wing please let me know.
  4. Q2 is also a canard, to get the speeds this would also have to be a canard with laminar flow wings
  5. If a complex wing with slots and le slats one could possibly get the velocity range. Use laminar wings and you would be close. I still believe that it is possible. Very expensive with carbon fiber and nylon printed parts instead of steel parts and it would be a very light aircraft. Owing to the higher wing loading it would be more stable in turbulent weather. Are slats and flaps allowed to obtain a low landing speed, or must the wing loading be without, I don't know?
  6. I was really sceptical at first knowing that undercarriage is a huge drag on an aircraft. Then I remembered the Q2. It has its undercarriage in it's wingtips, much less drag. Just looked up the Q2 specs, not that far behind this aircraft. Given that the whole aircraft could be made from carbon fibre, I think that the weight could be lowered so much that a lightweight engine such as Rotax, may give close to the weight as is with this aircraft. I have not done an engineering study on this, I just using my mental arithmetic on general items. I do not believe the VNE though, the spars, even in carbon, would have to be strong and heavy. Why have such a high VNE, probably would not get there even in a dive.
  7. I appreciate your position. I reckon that we need these and guys like yourself to develop them. A bit too far north, wife wants closer to grandkids. Good luck
  8. What region of this great land is this opportunity in? Anywhere near the ocean?
  9. Hey Bex, are you trying to be hard to get,,? Lol
  10. Thanks bex, you fixed up my balls up. What an engine for the price. A gearbox could be difficult to build. Needs very high class gears, difficult to get in Australia these days
  11. I was really trying to show the 6+ liter supercharged Engine that you can buy brand-new . One of the articles at the bottom of the page. Sorry for it being so obtuse

  14. Multifocal implant lens have the eye lens split into a grid that has a different focus in each. It reduces definition. My sister has it and says it's good. I prefer my solution. CASA can't handle anything different.
  15. What I have is called monocular vision meaning one eye only. And only one eye is in focus at any point that you are looking, however while out of sharp focus the other eye is still collecting data and images for the brain. I see things exactly as I did when I had good vision as a youngster. People will say that as you only have one eye sharp then you don't have depth vision. Well you do, maybe not as good as when you have two good young eyes but I can still catch a ball, easily, maybe my depth vision is only 90% of what it was when I had two very good eyes but it is there. The brain uses slightly out of focus information from the second eye and gets it to nearly 100%, it sees the centre of the slightly blurry objects and uses this information. The first 3D movie I saw was a problem for the first 30 minutes, it was 2D, but all of a sudden I realised that I was seeing 3D. Now every 3D movie I see is seen in 3D, the brain remembers what to do, a truly fascinating organ . For flying I have bifocal glasses that correct both eyes so that you see the world as a non monocular person does. CASA demands that I wear glasses when flying. I have one for wearing and one for spare. Never quite understand what their problem is with "monocular vision", maybe they just don't understand. I love my "monocular vision" not as good as young vision, but far far better than glasses. I am so glad that I demanded a diopter 2 in my left eye, it can see really fine detail. I just wish that I had demanded astigma correction in my right eye. I have thought of having the lens replaced. If you are thinking of eye surgery for cataracts or similar I would be pleased to chat over the phone if anyone wishes. Geoff
  16. Sorry I misunderstood. I have long vision in right. Short in left and have a casa medical. I would rather talk on phone for more info. Let me know and I will email phone number
  17. Should be Halo effect, not hall effect
  18. I have a very good number 5. Left eye has very close focus. Diopter 2. Had to argue with opthalmic surgeon before he would give it. Don't bother with 4, get the second eye done asap after first. I wish I didn't wait the 18 months. But I had monocular vision with contacts for 10 years so my eyes went straight to fantastic vision. It may take 6 weeks to get used to monocular vision. About 1 year for hall effect to go. Eye surgery the least painful surgy I have ever had. Geoff
  19. Without a pitch change my thoughts are on something else in the engine or airframe that is vibrating at it's natural frequency when an engine frequency is near that frequency. When they dug a tunnel under my house I mapped the vibration and amplitude when the machine approached 50 metres down in sandstone. I found that the house had a natural frequency of approximately 50 hz, the tunnel boring machine actually only had very small amplitudes at this frequency. You may have something similar, maybe air ductwork or a panel. To find this you would have to put your hand on various parts and see what moves. Difficult around the Engine I admit. By the way this is only a wild guess, don't spend too much time or money on it. Geoff
  20. Does the pitch of the vibration change with Engine speed?
  21. The cause could be plaque. Only shows up on calcium score. All other tests do not show it. What causes it in low risk people I don't know but a bit breaks off, into your heart and stops the valves from working. Not so nice.
  22. If you are fit and healthy and want to know your risk of dropping dead get a calcium score. I am no cardiologist but mine tells me it is an indication of how much plaque that you have in your arteries that may break off and go into your heart and block it. Stress tests will also help to a lesser extent if they ultrasound your heart under stress. But don't rely on me, I am an amateur.
  23. Maybe you should see a certified, the one that you would use maybe. Ask him/her then make your decision. I just think that if the experience for you is not the building, then don't.
  24. I must admit my clash with CASA was around 2000, many things may have changed since then.
  25. As an aside the advertisement that I placed for making moulds should have read "person needed to make aircraft moulds. At your place" and so on. Advertiser printed "person needed to make aircraft. Moulds at your place" and so on. What a difference a full stop placement meant. No wonder CASA called and threatened.
